Previously on Rebelde Way: Pablo and Marizza are making out! I know it’s a big deal because I’ve seen that scene gif’d on Tumblr like eighty million times.
Pablo and Marizza come up for air and Marizza gives Pablo a speech about following their hearts and fighting for their love. Pablo’s like, “I’m glad you’ve finally come around on our relationship, but if you’re going to get mad at me again for something that you forgive every other boy on this show for, we should probably just stop.” He has a point, but Marizza doesn’t bring up his bizarro rant at her when she visited him in the prison, so I don’t know what they’re trying to do. Marizza’s like, “I promise to hold you to the same standards that I hold all other boys to from now on!” She goes on a bit about how she was afraid of letting him have the power to hurt her, and Pablo’s like, “Wow, this is the most mature speech I’ve ever heard from you.” Marizza gets pissy that he’s implying that she’s immature — even though she is — and they almost fight but then they don’t. So…this is getting off to a great start.
Over at Casa Colucci, Mia and Papa C are both being emo: Mia over Manuel, and Papa C over Sonia. Since Mia has nothing to do but wait for Manuel’s inevitable amnesia, she suggests they focus on helping Papa C forget Sonia. For starters, they should get rid of everything she decorated their new house with! Is…is Mia suggesting that she’s going to do manual labor? Anyway, their day is interrupted by a phone call from one of Papa C’s associates. He tells Papa C that someone is pushing for an investigation into Papa C’s company. Papa C’s like, “We’re totally legitimate!” and the associate says that they’re intent on finding some kind of dirt on Papa C — but they don’t know where this sudden interest is coming from! “I have an idea,” Papa C says dryly. Mia comes in and overhears this.
Back at school, Sol has confronted Blas about lying to his cousin. She wants to know what Blas is hiding — Sol, he’s not hiding anything, he’s openly a predator — and Blas gets all emo and tells her about his father. “The famous scientist?” Sol asks. Blas is like, “We established that Lujan was lying about that like twenty episodes ago, keep up.” He tells her that his dad is actually a petty criminal, and he would just die of shame if anyone found out. He doesn’t want his cousin spilling all this shit to Fernanda, who would surely spread it all over school. Look, at this rate, if they want to fire Blas for having a shady dad, I’ll take it. Sol clutches at his head like she thinks that’s romantic.
Marizza and Pablo go on a little date to the park and dance together. It’s all very cute except for the part where I know it can’t last, because this is exactly what Mia and Manuel did after they kissed in Sonia’s dressing room, and look how they ended up. Marizza sees that she has a bunch of missed calls from Javier, and Pablo’s all salty that she wants to call him back. Javier’s like, “My darling, it’s so good to hear from you! I’m so sorry we couldn’t make our date today!” Marizza’s like, “Oh, right, that date. It’s fine! I totally didn’t run off to make out with your stepbrother!”
Vico goes sneaking in Rocco’s room to look for clues. She finds a piece of paper in his jacket, and she’s all, “Suspicious!” She calls Mia and reports that she found another girl’s phone number in Rocco’s pocket, and Mia goes on a whole rant about how Vico has to give Rocco a chance to explain before she goes making assumptions!!! I think Mia is projecting. Vico hangs up and Pilar’s like, “Don’t listen to her; he’s definitely cheating. I’ll call his side piece for you if you want.” I love you, Pilar, but why are you trying to ruin everyone else’s happiness?
Pablo and Marizza come back to school, where Javier greets them. He’s holding heart balloons that say I LOVE YOU on them and it’s really cringe but also kind of…actually sad? Holy shit, do I feel bad for Javier? I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. Javier’s all like, “Why are you two holding hands?” Pablo starts to explain, and Marizza asks if she can have the chance to talk it out with Javier. Javier’s like, “This is weird” and goes off with her, leaving Pablo with the balloons.
Then we cut to Lujan’s face. Wow, it’s been ages since we’ve seen her! I barely recognized her! I know we’re nearing the end of the show — kind of — because she’s changed to the hairstyle that she’s wearing in the finale. Lujan is writing down her feels — I’m not sure if she’s writing to Marizza or just in her diary — when the door opens and some guy comes in. Some Guy looks exactly like Vico’s dad, and I was like, “Did he get a new job as Lujan’s minder, or is this show just so lazy that they’re making the same actor play two roles, in the same costume, and thought we wouldn’t notice?” However, there is apparently a third option I missed, which is that half these actors look the same and this dude just happens to have the same outfit, hair, and face as the guy who plays Vico’s dad. Jesus Christ.
Anyway, after the five minutes it took me to understand what was happening with this guy, he steps back and lets in a woman. Lujan’s all, “Omg, are you my mother?”
Pilar and Vico are calling the phone number from Rocco’s jacket, but the line is busy. Vico sighs that they should just forget it, and Pilar says, “No! You went through too much to get this number!” What? She just jacked it out of his pocket while he was asleep, Pilar. It didn’t take that much subterfuge. They try calling again, and this time they reach a woman who works at what looks like an Internet cafe? She even answers the phone with “cafe.com” but Pilar and Vico ignore this. The woman gives an over-the-top and easily-misinterpretable description of how much she loves seeing Rocco and how much fun they have together. Vico of course assumes that Rocco is cheating on her and starts crying.
Marizza tells Javier that she and Pablo are together now. Wow, I really thought there was going to be some convenient interruption and Marizza and Pablo were going to sneak around for a while. Javier bawls that she gave Pablo a chance when she never gave him one! What? She’s found out that Javier lied to her like eighty times by now and still went back to him; Marizza has given him nothing but chances. He starts whining that he wouldn’t have helped cover for Erreway with Papa B if he’d known it wouldn’t help him get in her pants. Wow, I feel way less bad for him now than I did in the balloon scene. He promises to wait for her and Marizza’s like, “That’s really not necessary.”
Tomás and Guido celebrate Pablo being released from jail like half an hour after he was arrested. One day, one of them is probably going to get arrested for something actually bad — my money’s on Guido — and they’re going to be shocked that actual jail sentences are not only 1-2 business days long. Pablo tells them that life is good — he’s out of jail and he’s finally gotten with Marizza! Tomás chirps that they can double date with him and Pilar, and Guido’s like, “And me and Augustina, since we made up!” Since when? Did Guido just make that up right now?
Feli takes Maxi to some makeout point and tries to Feel Things with him. She pretends he’s Lalo to help get into the mood, but Maxi pushes her away. He’s all, “Feli, premarital kissing with tongues is slutty and I do not approve of you being that kind of girl!”
Sol tries to get Fernanda to stop dating Blas’s cousin, but Fernanda’s like, “My inappropriate relationship is just as valid as yours!” Blas gets all threateny with Sol that he was relying on her to keep his cousin away from Fernanda. If she can’t break them up via Fernanda, they’re going to have to try some other way, if she’s picking up what he’s putting down. Sol’s like, “…are you trying to prostitute me to your cousin?” and Blas is like, “Yup!” God! This is so fucking gross. Blas is the worst and Sol is going to be in therapy forever after this. Anyway, later on, Sol tricks Fernanda into lending her her cell phone, and she calls Blas’s cousin.
Lujan’s mom tells her the circumstances of her birth: she was super young when she had Lujan, and Lujan’s dad was her boyfriend and a perfectly nice guy. He died tragically in a motorcycle accident, of all things. Imagine if that had been Martavio. Anyway, Lujan’s mom couldn’t handle the Pain of it all and gave Lujan up to a nice family. And she just knows that Lujan grew up in a stable home with people who treated her well! Lujan’s like, “Yeah, that…did not happen.”
Javier confronts Pablo all, “How dare you steal Marizza from me!” Pablo snarks that Marizza’s not a trophy to be won, and maybe this douchebaggery from Javier is part of why Marizza dumped him. I’m relieved because I almost felt bad for Javier there but now he’s reminding me why I hate him with my entire being.
Vico is now waiting for Rocco to come back to school so she can break his face. All of a sudden Pilar’s like, “Wow, let’s not jump to conclusions here!” Pilar, I usually enjoy your dedication to fucking with the happiness of everyone here, but I like Vico and Rocco together and I won’t stand for this. Anyway, Rocco shows up and Vico is super passive-aggressive about how she’s not mad at him at all. So much for breaking his face. Then Tomás comes in and asks Pilar on a double-date with Pablo and his new girlfriend — the love of his life, Marizza! Hee. Tomás ships them so hard. Pilar and Vico try to invite Rocco along on a triple date, but he blows them off. In total fairness, I don’t know if that’s a date I’d want to be on either.
Manuel and Sabrina fight over Erreway some more. Manuel tries to explain to Sabrina that Erreway is never ever getting back together, and he says that Pablo isn’t the only one who can’t exactly go on performing. Sabrina’s like, “Say what?” Let’s skip Manuel actually telling her anything! Instead, we cut to Sabrina being all emo over Manuel’s brain condition. Manuel is all condescending and he’s like, “Look, I know you too had a life-threatening illness, but mine is different and more special than yours, so you can’t tell me nothing about my shitty decisions.” Not quite in those words. In fairness, her advice is also pretty shitty — she tries to get him to see another doctor who might not diagnose him with a brain tumor, and then she offers to go with him to all his appointments because “you know I love hospitals.” HEE. Manuel assures her that Papa C is helping him, and Sabrina gets mad that he keeps bringing the Coluccis up.
Sonia tries to call Casa Colucci to talk to Papa C, but Mia intercepts her voicemail and deletes it. She cackles to herself that Sonia will never get in the way of Papa C giving Mia all his money and attention ever again.
Over at Sonia’s house, she and Martavio are saying their goodbyes, except not really because I’m sure Martavio will linger for another million years. He tells her to go after Papa C and prove to Marizza that love is real. Sonia gushes that she’s super in love with Papa C, and she’s sure he’s received her voicemail and is on his way to make out with her. Instead, she gets back a box full of her stuff and a note that’s like, “GOODBYE FOREVER, SONIA.” She doesn’t seem to notice that it’s written on pink paper, which Papa C would never do.
After that little mix-up, apparently the woman Lujan met is in fact Lola’s mom, not Lujan’s. Literally what was the point of all this, then! I literally do not understand what the fuck any of that was about. Anyway, Lujan is apparently not upset about this at all, and chirps that she can’t wait for Lola to meet her real mom. But then Not Vico’s Dad comes in and says that actually, Lujan is going to Jujuy with Lola’s mom to live with her forever.
Am I actually going insane? What the fuck is this subplot even about?
Sonia rants to Martavio that she hates Papa C forever and he tries to get her to chill out. Marizza and Pablo come in and announce that they’re dating. Martavio’s like, “I’m so happy, I have shipped you two forever!” I bet Martavio used to track the pablizza tag on tumblr dot com. Sonia’s less enthused, although she merely mumbles that she’ll kill Pablo if he hurts Marizza, which seems a little anticlimactic for how upset she looked. Then Marizza tells Pablo that Martavio is leaving, and Pablo is like, “Without saying goodbye?” “I hate goodbyes,” Martavio says. And yet, he’s been lingering for the past two episodes, killing me softly.
Lalo helps Feli get out of her date with Maxi and she’s kind of suggestive over what they should do now that he’s gone, but then we cut away and never come back to them, so whatever.
Papa C’s associate tells him that Papa B is behind the whole investigation with his factory. I don’t know why they needed an entire scene to tell us this; it was obvious the second it happened.
Pablo promises Marizza that they’ll go to the south one day to visit Martavio. Marizza’s all twitterpated by how nice he’s being, but Sonia comes in to stop them from getting to second base. She sends Pablo home, but he sneaks back in and they cuddle and shit. I won’t lie; it’s pretty cute. In the morning, Pablo goes back to school and Marizza goes to say goodbye to Martavio.
Pilar and Vico go to the Internet cafe and talk to the woman who they think is Rocco’s girlfriend. She mentions that Rocco worked a double shift recently; Pilar immediately picks up that Rocco works here, while Vico’s like, “If Rocco cheated on me with that old lady, I’ll die.” Pilar’s like, “No, dummy, this is his job.” Vico frets that Rocco still lied to her about working here. Then a teenage girl walks up and starts talking to the boss, and Vico’s like, “Aha! He is cheating on me!”
Pablo goes back to school and Tomás and Guido needle him about spending the night with Marizza and not having sex. They’re like, “She was emotionally vulnerable, that’s the best time to do it!” Pablo says that he just comforted her because she was all cut up over Martavio leaving. Javier overhears this while he’s all bundled up in his blankets like a weird, neckless gnome.
Mia tries to convince Vico that maybe Rocco really does have a job, because he needs the extra cash. Vico’s like, “He’s definitely cheating on me, stop saying words.” Mia leaves and Rocco comes by. Vico tells Rocco that she’s worried that, now that her dad’s back, he’s going to start asking her for money again. She suggests that she and Rocco start playing music together again to earn money, and Rocco’s like, “No way, let’s not worry our little heads about things like that!” I…what? She just offered you a total out, Rocco.
Marizza goes to the bus station to say goodbye to Martavio. He’s like, “I’m sad to be leaving, but at least you and Pablo are together now!” I’m glad Martavio has his priorities in order. Everyone hugs and cries and then Martavio gets on the bus. Oh, wow, is he really leaving? I’ve occasionally liked Martavio, but for the most part I can’t say anything of value was lost. He was a deeply ineffective teacher and tbh, most of the kids are way less shitty than they were last season, so he’s not as important of a moral authority as Mansilla was. I definitely won’t miss all those eight-minute speeches with the endless closeups on his Earnest Face (TM).
Anyway, after he leaves, Javier rocks up because of course he does. Fucking Javier! Why didn’t he get on that bus too? He has a band-aid on his chin, and he claims that he got it from Pablo hitting him. See, Pablo was bragging about getting in Marizza’s pants, and then Javier told him that Marizza wasn’t a trophy to be won. So noble! Definitely not the actual opposite of what happened! Marizza’s like, “Omg, Javier, I’m going to uncritically believe you five minutes after finally getting with Pablo because no one who watches this show can have a minute of peace.” I SWEAR.
