Previously on Rebelde Way: Manuel is dying of telenovelaneosis! Not that the doctor can tell him that. Instead, he calls Manuel, tells him that he needs to come in to the office, and hangs up. Look, I know it’s not realistic for a doctor to give a patient a severe diagnosis over the phone, but nothing on this show is realistic and it would’ve cut down on the Manuel time in this episode. I ASK FOR SO LITTLE.
Javier tells Marizza that he and his mom got Papa B to back off of Martavio. I bet he didn’t. As ever, Marizza’s like, “OMG, Javier, I know you’ve solved all my problems because you are a bastion of truth!” Behind every successful man is Javier, smiling and taking partial credit.
We cut back to Manuel going off on the doctor for not diagnosing him on the phone. Oh my God, whatever, Manuel. What is stopping you from going to the doctor? It’s not like you go to a real school. Anyway, Manuel grudgingly agrees to go. And we go to the credits! I still can’t believe they stopped using “Tiempo” in favor of this…monstrosity.
Vico’s been out for a day of retail therapy after Feli was such a dick to her the other day. Mia’s like, “She was rude to me too, let’s not let this be all about someone else!” She tells Vico about how Feli refused to pass the note on to Manuel for her, so she had to do it herself and Manuel was his usual jerky self about it. Vico tells Mia again, some more, that Manuel has gotten a total personality overhaul between seasons 1 and 2 and she needs to forget about him. She’s like, “He’s an asshole and we just didn’t see it before!” Vico knows the TRUTH! Mia’s like, “I know, but the plot won’t let me forget him because this is a telenovela.” Then Francisco comes in and Vico’s like, “Oooh, ask Francisco why he and Manuel are fighting!” Mia tries to approach him — she also totally trips as she gets up, which I think they just left in because this show? Effort? Never — but Francisco acts all weird and moody and blows her off. So…business as usual for the guys on this show, then.
Pilar, Tomás, and Pablo come back to school. Pilar and Tomás are like, weirdly still on about Pablo dating Pilar’s cousin. They keep needling Pablo about what he may or may not have going on with Consuelo and it has nothing to do with anything. Eventually Pilar peaces out and Tomás tells Pablo that they were trying to help him get over Marizza — and hey, Pilar’s cousin is still on the table if Pablo wants to cheat on Consuelo. Jesus Christ, Tomás. Pablo huffs that now that everything with Martavio and the expulsion is over, he’s done with Marizza.
Speaking of things that are over: Sonia tries to work things out with Papa C, but he’s all bitter and salty that she went back to Martavio in the first place. Sonia’s like, “But you punched Papa B for me! That’s real love!” Papa C’s like, “Anyone would have done that,” and I must admit that that’s true. We would all take a swing at Papa B given the chance. Anyway, he goes on about how fickle she is and that gets her mad. They fight again and don’t get back together.
That night, Vico comes across Feli crying. Despite their argument, she comforts her and it’s very sweet. Aw! Vico and Mia are the best friends. Feli, eh. She doesn’t have a great track record.
Pablo tries to quit Erreway. Again, some more. Everyone is like, “DUDE, can you make up your mind, we are TIRED.” Pablo huffs that he’s quitting so Marizza can stay in the school, so maybe they should all back off. Marizza’s dumbstruck that Pablo is doing this for her, as she always is when Pablo does something decent even though he hasn’t been an ass to her for like 100 episodes. Manuel’s like, “Well, I really need the money so if you could just put this off until after our Gran Rex show, that would be great.” Pablo grudgingly agrees and they bring it all in for a group hug. Aw! I would also like to point out that Mia instigates it because she is the sweetest.
Sabrina comes to the school and tells Sol that Manuel dumped her. Whatever happened that friend Sabrina had way back when? Maybe she got tired of Sabrina’s machinations and went off to live a normal life. Anyway, Sol crazies that this is all Mia’s fault, somehow. Even Sabrina’s not that far gone, and she wibbles that Manuel hates Mia, he just doesn’t want to be with Sabrina. Aw. Self-awareness looks so good on Sabrina. She’s less sympathetic, though, when she starts ranting that she’ll just die if Mia and Manuel get back together. Sabrina, you actually almost died. Have some perspective. She mentions that Francisco and Mia have been hanging out, which gives Sol an idea.
Meanwhile, Marcos and Blas are still fighting. Wow, they have to have been there for hours. Blas tells Marcos that he won’t tell him where Lujan is, but he does know that Lujan is planning to call — so if Marcos plays nice, he won’t intercept it and Marcos will get to talk to her. Marcos agrees to this.
Michi gives Dunoff some papers, which includes a letter from the school board. Dunoff reads it and is absolutely shocked, and then Michi is also absolutely shocked, and then they put their faces really close together and it is super weird. Michi is too good for him, show! Anyway, the gist of it is that the board has sent a letter expelling Marizza, thus rendering all this BS with Javier and Pablo completely moot. Love when this show drags me around for ten episodes then proceeds to make none of it matter!
Marizza apologies to Pablo and asks why he’s risking it all for her. Pablo’s like, “Uh, I didn’t do it for you, I did it for your dad!” Not weird at all. Marizza says that Javier was the one who fixed everything with Martavio. Pablo’s like, “The fuck? Actually, you know what, whatever. Sure, Javier did that.” HEE! He’s so over all this. Marizza presses him to say why he’s willing to quit the band for her, but Pablo says that he knows she’s not ready to hear it. Pablo’s gotten so smart, you guys. I’m proud of him.
Over in the boys’ room, Guido is still lying around thinking about his dick. Nobody cares! He whines to Tomás that it’s like he has a sickness — he can’t stop thinking about Feli! Tomás is like, “Wow, you have a crush on fat girl? That IS a sickness.” These two are so fucked up. I mean, Guido I expect, but what is wrong with Tomás?
Marcos tries to convince Manuel to go to the doctor. Manuel reacts with his usual grace, although he’s worried enough himself that he’s actually going to go this time. Marcos tries to support Manuel emotionally, but Manuel yells that he’ll go alone and storms off. Mia walks in and overhears this.
Javier whines at Marizza that he’s either fixed or is going to fix all of her problems, so why is she still sad? Maybe because she has to look at your stupid face all day, Javier. He assures her that she won’t get kicked out, but Marizza is still emo because she keeps thinking about Pablo.
Mia and Vico stage an intervention for Feli. Vico’s told Mia that Feli was crying last night, and if it was over Maxi, she needs to know that he is worth none of her tears. They’re like, “We already don’t like him, but we’ll hate him more if you want us to.” Aw! They’re good friends. Feli tells them that she was crying over Lalo, not Maxi. Mia and Vico are like, “What?” while “Not Gonna Get Us” starts playing in the background. HA! Peak 2003!
Martavio and Sonia come into the office. Sonia is fretting that she doesn’t know why Dunoff called them there on such short notice — she didn’t even have time to do her makeup! Martavio gives her a corny-ass speech about how she doesn’t need makeup because she doesn’t kno~ow she’s beautiful. It’s not that bad a sentiment but Martavio manages to make it horrible and corny, as he does all things. Anyway, Dunoff ushers them in to his office and tells them Marizza is being expelled, except he doesn’t actually say that because the whole thing is shown to us via a sad piano montage of Sonia’s crying. I guess they couldn’t be fucked to write more dialogue for this scene.
Back in Mia’s room, Feli spills the whole sordid thing to Mia and Vico: Lalo kissed her, and she like…felt things. Things that she’s never felt with Maxi! And now she’s basically cheated on Maxi with Lalo, and she’s having all kinds of sinful feelings, so what do? Mia and Vico assure her that there’s nothing wrong with kissing a dude — one who’s way hotter than Maxi, objectively — and feeling a little somethin’. Feli insists that SHE doesn’t feel things like that. Aw! This is, I think, really realistic for people who grow up religious — speaking for myself, it’s not even that I thought sex was shameful or that people were bad for having it, the church just made sexuality such a big, obsessive thing, that it felt like this whole serious, personality-altering, all-consuming feeling that happened to other people, not me. So like, my teenage self feels for Feli here, for sure. Anyway, Mia and Vico try to convince her otherwise, but she won’t be swayed. Mia’s like, “Okay, but still…two boys in one day, right? Nice.” Hee.
All the kids go to class. Pablo, Guido, and Tomás spend the whole time perving on Feli and it’s v. weird and gross. For some reason, only Pablo gets busted for being out of his goddamn mind, and Hilda sends him to the office. Marizza follows him into the hall and is like, “I am totally ready to hear why you helped me! I definitely won’t freak out and run back into Javier’s arms at all!” Pablo tells her that he helped her because he loves her — he wants to go all in on their relationship; he doesn’t want her to be with Javier. Marizza’s like, “Okay, admittedly I wasn’t really ready for that.” They make out anyway, though, like they aren’t two feet away from their classroom.
Then Martavio and Sonia rock up, interrupting Marizza trying to let Pablo down. They try to tell her that they have bad news, but Marizza’s like, “Shh, stop saying words, just tell me if you two have kissed yet.” They’re like, “Okay, this is serious.” Pablo goes back to class and tells Tomás how Marizza rejected him, and Tomás is like, “Okay, so just date Consuelo and cheat on her instead.” Fucking Tomás. Except then Consuelo texts Pablo and vaguely says that she doesn’t like what he did the other day. Does she mean with Pilar’s cousin? I don’t know.
Mia calls Sabrina to school to tell her that Manuel’s got telanovelaneosis and he needs support. Or maybe Sabrina never left because all she does is hang around high schoolers all day. I don’t know. Anyway, Mia gives Sabrina the doctor’s address. Sabrina’s like, “Why are you helping me?” and Mia’s like, “None of your business.” Probably because the real answer is because she is mad dickmatized and that’s too embarrassing to admit.
Dunoff tells Marizza that she’s expelled. Marizza’s like, “This is not great justice!” Dunoff tries to calm her down and Marizza’s like, “It’s Andrade, actually.” Martavio beams. Martavio, is now really the time? Anyway, we’re treated to some more sanctimonious speeches about justice and shit from the Spirito-Andrade family, which are thankfully interrupted by Papa B. Marizza, Martavio, and Sonia all try to yell at him, but he’s just like, “Golly, I don’t know what all this is about.” Heh. He’s a terrible person but he doesn’t give a fuck about their sanctimony. Marizza and Sonia leave, but Martavio hangs behind to snap at Papa B that he messed with the WRONG FAMILY! He’s all, “We are a united front, because Sonia and I are totally in love! And Pablo also likes me better than you! Good day!” He storms out and Dunoff’s like, “Well, that was awkward.”
Outside, Sonia and Martavio try to convince Marizza to stay and say goodbye to everyone, but she says that she just wants to go home. #relatable
Over at the doctor’s office, the doctor tells Manuel that he has some kind of head injury, but they don’t really know what kind or how it got there. Manuel’s like, “Oh, well I was in that car accident that one time,” and the doctor’s like, “Yeah, that could’ve caused it.” Science! He wants to run more tests, which Manuel balks at because he can’t pay for it. The doctor’s like, “No worries, we have universal healthcare here.” Manuel whines that he can’t do it and he wants another doctor and the doctor’s like, “Wow, okay, pick up your referral from my secretary, you giant baby.” Not in so many words. Manuel sneaks out when the secretary is getting the referral for him.
He sees Sabrina outside, and she starts trying to talk to him about his health which makes him all salty. Sabrina, this is literally why he broke up with you. I thought you were good at this whole subterfuge thing. He wants to know why she’s here, and she says that she found out from Mia. Manuel gets mad at the mention of Mia, and Sabrina’s like, “Oh, don’t worry, I’m sure her boyfriend will keep her from messing around with you even more.” Manuel’s like, “Say what?” and Sabrina’s like, “She and Francisco are obviously dating. But if you need proof, I can dig around for you.” Hee. I take that back; Sabrina knows what she’s doing.
Michi tells Dunoff that she needs to find the school’s insurance information, because when the kids find out that Marizza’s been expelling, they’re going to burn the school down. HEE! She’s not wrong. Dunoff blusters that they’ll just lie that Marizza’s on vacation instead; problem solved! You’re…going to lie until they all graduate, Dunoff? Michi wails that she doesn’t want to lie.
Pablo comes in and asks where Marizza is. Dunoff’s like, “Oh, I was not expecting to have to lie so quickly.” He tells him that Marizza’s on vacation, and Pablo’s like, “That’s kind of short notice,” and Michi’s like, “IT IS, ISN’T IT?” Heh.
Mia and Vico drag Feli to the cafeteria. Lalo pretends nothing has happened, but of course Feli still can’t have peace: Guido comes in and starts heavy breathing that she raises his temperature with her very presence! Tomás continues to be all like, “Eww, but she’s fat.” Dammit, Tomás, I was rooting for you! Pilar needs to set him straight. Guido frets about how to ask her out, and Tomás is like, “You’re sick.” Heh.
Contrivance calls Mia and Vico away, so Feli is left alone with Guido and Lalo. Tragic. Guido invites Feli for a walk and vagues at her about how things change, and like, life changes, man. Sometimes you find love where you’re not looking for it! “Does that make sense?” he asks. Feli’s like, “No.” And I don’t know what we’re doing here, because I have stuff to do.” Heh. Guido tells her that he can’t stop thinking about her letters, and Feli starts bleating that she doesn’t feel that way anymore so he should just forget it about forever. Guido agrees but not really, because then he grabs Feli and kisses her. Damn, can Feli have ONE consensual kiss in her life? Anyway, of course Maxi rocks up and is all appalled to see that Feli does such base things like kissing with tongue.
Javier is looking for Marizza, and Pablo tells him that she went on a trip. Javier’s like, “Unpossible!” He bleats that Marizza would have told him, because they’re psychically connected or joined at the hip or whatever. Just then, Marizza calls him and tells him that she’s going on a trip and if he can tell Erreway that she’s bailing on them, that would be great. Then she hangs up while Javier wails “But where are you??” into the phone. Suffer, Javier!
Over at Sonia’s house, Marizza thinks about Pablo’s confession and emos to the tune of “Dije adios.” Then Javier somehow shows up — in the span of like five minutes? — and starts banging on the door, asking if Marizza’s there and begging to be let in. Is this meant to seem like a horror movie? Because that’s what it looks like.
Pablo’s apartment. Ines walks down from Pablo’s upper floor while Papa B fixes his tie. Did they just…fuck in Papa B’s son’s bed? God, like the concept of Papa B having sex wasn’t gross enough. They discuss how Papa B is going to take Pablo to some shady business meeting this weekend, as Martavio’s probably going to ask him for help re: Marizza’s expulsion. Oh, and they shouldn’t tell Javier to keep it between as few people as possible. Convenient that Consuelo walks in and overhears all of this! Papa B looks all offended that she’s walked in on them, like he wasn’t banging in his son’s bed like five minutes ago oh my GOD that is such a gross thought.
Manuel and Sabrina come back to school, where Pablo drops it on them that Marizza’s fucked off so she won’t be rehearsing with them anymore. But she’s…still going to perform in the show? However that works? Manuel and Pablo run off to discuss it with Mia, and Sabrina yells after them to remember how many people’s jobs are riding on this. She’s not wrong, but when has Erreway ever thought about anything besides themselves?
Sol meets up with Sabrina, and Sabrina gushes that her plan is going great — but now she needs to prove that Francisco and Mia are going out, or at least get a solid rumor going. Sol’s like, “Oh, can’t help you there, everyone in this school hates me.” Sabrina strokes her ego and says that Sol is so smart, surely she can figure something out. Sol’s like, “You’re right, I totally can.”
Francisco is emo over Mia and Manuel fighting because he thinks it’s going to fuck up his dance competition. What? Have some perspective, Francisco. He whines that his friends from Santiago del Estero never fought like this. Well, were they characters on a telenovela, Francisco? Anyway, Manuel and Pablo walk in on them, and Manuel is all salty to see Mia and Francisco together. They discuss how to proceed with the rehearsals, and Manuel wibbles that it just won’t be the same. I mean, yeah, but you three could still rehearse and if Marizza wants to fall on her face at the Gran Rex, that’s her deal.
Tomás drags Pablo off, leaving Manuel and Mia alone. Mia tries to assure Manuel that everything will be fine, and he starts snarling at her that he knows Francisco, and he’s just going to dump Mia, and that’s her own problem. Mia’s like, “O…kay?” Jesus, he was an asshole to her through their entire relationship, and now he’s a jerk to her even when she’s trying to be nice to him. Manuel is truly the worst.
Consuelo has come to see Pablo. Pablo’s like, “So what’s with that text you sent me?” and Consuelo’s like, “Not important! We’re on to the next plot point!” She tells him that Papa B is going to take him on a mini-trip to get him away from Andrade, on account of the whole expelling-his-daughter thing. Pablo’s like, “Say WHAT?” Wow! All his efforts were completely for naught!
