Rebelde Way 2×125: I Want to See the Receipts

Previously on Rebelde Way: Lujan has been kidnapped! Let’s see how Elite Way chooses to live in denial about this, shall we?

When we last left this school, some inspector had just shown up to review Elite Way. I’m sure he won’t find anything, though. Noticing the blatant corruption, abuse, and total lack of curriculum is apparently too much to ask for from any adult on this show. The inspector is a little weirded out that he just walked in on a student being kidnapped, but Dunoff assures him that Blas has the proper authorization to remove Lujan from the school. Marizza’s all, “Where? Where were they?” and Dunoff’s like, “Somewhere. Around here. I saw them and that’s all that matters!”

Pilar tells the class that Papa B is trying to get her dad fired, and that’s why the inspector is here — Papa B is banking on him discovering how shitty this school is and getting rid of Dunoff. See above, re: being too much to hope for. As ever, the class suddenly loves Dunoff and they’re like, “He can’t be fired! He is the greatest educator this country has ever seen!” They agree to be on their best behavior so that the inspector will think Dunoff is competent. “Don’t count on me,” Marizza says. Hee. It’s true; asking Marizza to act like a decent human being for more than five seconds at a time is a stretch. Marizza says that it’s not like Dunoff is that great of a principal, lest they forget. Pilar tells her that the whole reason they’re trying to get rid of Dunoff is because Dunoff defended Marizza and her shitty family to Papa B, so maybe she should be grateful. Marizza’s like, “Oh.”

Over at Papa C and Sonia’s house, Papa C is on the phone with…Manuel’s mom? I, for one, am shocked. They’re discussing Manuel’s refusal to go to the doctor, and Papa C expresses concern that Manuel’s like, become a rageaholic and is under the guardianship of some rando who doesn’t even live in Argentina anymore. Manuel’s mom is like, “Whatever, he’s probably fine. Please don’t send him back to live in my house.” Papa C’s like, “Okay, but I really think he needs help,” and Sonia’s like, “He totally does!” Papa C’s like, “Stop trying to help me, woman,” and Sonia gets all mad.

In class, Hilda tries to teach while the kids are all wrapped up in their own drama, as usual. Guido is STILL thinking about those letters, like, nobody cares. Pablo and Javier voiceover about their pissing match re: Marizza. Vico makes eyes at Rocco but he ignores her. Then Dunoff comes in with the inspector, and Marizza gets it together and tells the inspector what they were studying. Dunoff is shocked that the kids are taking an interest in the education that their parents pay thousands of dollars for.

Blas takes Lujan to the airport and tells her that he’s sending her away For the Greater Good. He gives her a pretty serious speech about how she has to know where she comes from to become a better person. Lujan’s like, “Sounds fake, but okay.” Blas sends her off to wherever the hell she’s going and voiceovers that one day, Lujan will understand that he did this for her own good. I actually don’t hate this. It’s a new plot development, Lujan generally has interesting drama, and anything that gets Blas away from underage girls for a few minutes is good in my book.

Back at school, Marcos has apparently been out of the loop of all the drama that’s been happening. He sees Marizza being all emo on the staircase and he’s like, “What’s up, long time now see! Why the long face?” Marizza’s like, “Well, I’m on the verge of getting kicked out of school, my biological parents are never ever getting back together, and my best friend has been kidnapped, so things are not great.” Marcos freaks out that Blas took Lujan somewhere, because he still likes her (even though he treats her like crap, but whatever). He and Marizza resolve to get to the bottom of this. When Blas walks in, they demand to know where Lujan is and when she’s coming back. “Who said she’s coming back?” Blas evils.

In the cafeteria, Mia and Vico get all tsundere with the various boys in their lives. Mia keeps knocking her chair into Francisco to passive-aggressively let him know that he’s mad at him. Rocco’s hanging around some other girl, which Vico isn’t happy about at all. I thought everyone at this school thought Rocco was a total weirdo? Why are all these girls hanging out with him? Whatever. Vico storms out, and Francisco takes the opportunity to talk to Mia. He apologizes to her and admits that he fucked up her thing with Alejandro because Manuel asked him to. Mia forgives him and makes him promise not to do it again. I’m sure he won’t, until Manuel asks him to again because Francisco has no loyalty. Mia and Francisco hug and Sabrina walks in on them.

Sonia comes to visit Martavio. He’s all emo over his legal situation and general failure of an existence. Sonia’s like, “Don’t give up hope! Remember how you saved me from committing suicide in the desert that one time by telling me not to give up hope?” I hate myself for writing that sentence. They bond over how happy they are that Sonia didn’t commit suicide that night and they had mad sex and got Marizza out of the deal. “Despite her ~rebeldía, she’s a good kid,” Martavio says. Drink!

Flashback Martavio’s hair is…such a thing that exists.

Sabrina has brought Manuel new underwear to buy his love, and also because I don’t think he’s bought new clothes in the year he’s been here. She also not-so-subtly tells Manuel that Francisco and Mia are hanging out. Then Michi interrupts them by telling Manuel that his mom is on the phone. Lies! Manuel’s mother doesn’t give a fuck about his life in Argentina! Manuel is also like, “OMG, Mom?!” and runs off to talk to her. Also lies! Manuel hasn’t bothered to update his mother on his life in like two years! Manuel’s mom wants him to go to the doctor, and Manuel’s like, “You don’t control my life! I’ve been seventeen for two years and I can do whatever I want!” For someone who’s so invested in doing his own thing, Manuel sure just keeps attaching himself to schools and adults who are legally responsible for his well-being. Like, if he was really committed to being free, he would go live on the street like Lujan.

Feli comes up and wants to punk out of her date, because I guess she’s going out with Max now? And Michi wants her to do it because she has some master plan to put in motion and it’s all very nebulous and opaque. We’ll get there when we get there, I guess.

Marizza comes over and kicks Martavio out so she can talk to Sonia alone. She tells Sonia that Martavio is totes still in love with her and she wants them to get married to make their little family real. She’s like, “I know you don’t really like him like that, but like, you had sex once, right? And I WANT you guys to get together because I’ve never had a familyyyy.” Sonia is guilt-tripped by this.

Back at school, all the kids are on their best behavior for the inspector. They’re quiet during class, they ask permission to leave, blah blah blah. This is stupid. It’s not even a spoiler to say that the inspector is blown away by how well-behaved they are and he gushes to Dunoff about how he must be the BEST principal and the kids are SO good. And the show plays it like the kids deserve this praise even though their good behavior is a total lie and they’re complete hellions otherwise. Whatever.

Proof: as soon as class is over, Manuel starts crazying at Francisco that he heard that Francisco is hanging around his girl, and he can’t be having that. Francisco diplomatically says that Mia is his friend, just like Manuel, and he wants to be there for her without getting involved in all this drama. Manuel’s like, “Since when are you guys friends? You only started hanging around her because I made you spy for me.” I hate to admit it, but he has a point. Francisco tells him to butt out and watch himself, and Manuel’s like, “No, the one who must watch himself is YOU!” This threat is less intimidating since Francisco has like, a full head on Manuel.

Laura apparently overheard some stuff related to Lujan’s kidnapping, and Marcos tries to get information out of her. Laura insists she didn’t hear much of anything, and she gets all salty that Marcos is so invested in Lujan’s well-being. Aren’t Laura and Marcos broken up by this point? Why is she mad that he cares about her friend? Whatever.

In the cafeteria, Feli complains to Mia that she doesn’t want to go on a date with Max. Lalo comes up and asks if they want anything else, and Feli’s like, “What I WANT is for you to fuck off forever and stop interrupting me.” What even…? THIS IS HIS JOB, FELI. Also, did they just like, totally roll back the bit where Feli and Lalo made up? What is happening. Also, I usually like some slap slap kiss in a relationship, but Feli’s actively classist and demeaning towards Lalo. Why would he want to date her? That’d be like me wanting to date the customers that yell at me at work.

That said, Lalo finally loses it and tells Feli that he’s just doing his job, and maybe she can make her own fucking croissants if she’s that mad about his existence. All the kids are like, “Oh shit, the waiter is going off.” Lalo tells Feli to let him work in peace and storms off, and Sol comes up and is all sarcastic about what a dick Feli is. I mean, she’s not wrong, but are we supposed to believe that Sol wants to redistribute the wealth? LOL. Mia gets mad that Sol is dissing Feli and jumps her. Blas breaks up the fight and drags Mia to the office.

In the office, Blas puts his face way too close to Mia’s and tells her to leave Sol alone. After he leaves, Rocco comes in and is like, “So watching you beat Sol up was kind of funny. Very out-of-character.” Rocco, clearly you weren’t here for season 1. Anyway, Mia takes the opportunity to confront him over Vico. Rocco admits that he loves Vico, but it hurts that she doesn’t trust him. Mia gives him a big speech about how Vico doesn’t trust HERSELF, on account of being abandoned by everyone who’s ever loved her. She’s like, “Didn’t you help her deal with that stuff earlier this season?” and Rocco’s like, “Oh, right.” Mia says that Vico needs Rocco because he’s dependable. Are we just…not getting into Rocco’s psychosexual dysfunction? In exchange for her inspirational speech, Rocco tells Mia to ask Fernanda about the tape he made of Blas and Sol.

I ship this a little? I ship Mia with everyone, admittedly.

Manuel tells Sabrina that he talked to Francisco and cleared everything up, and he doesn’t believe Francisco and Mia are more than friends. Uh, didn’t you threaten to beat him up, Manuel? In what universe is that “clearing things up”? Whatever. He and Sabrina start fighting, totally oblivious to Rocco filming them. HEE. Vico walks by and Rocco asks her to talk, but Vico blows him off. Michi comes by and tells Vico that a man is on the phone for her.

Sonia emos over Marizza’s request to break up with Papa C. She ultimately decides to do it, which like…I mean, I think it’s fair for Marizza to have some say in who her mother dates to an extent, especially if Sonia intends to marry Papa C. But like, Sonia shouldn’t force herself to mack it with Martavio just to make Marizza happy. That’s gross. Anyway, Sonia and Papa C are broken up, again, some more. I hope they can still sell the house they just bought together!

Vico goes to take the call for her. It’s from her dad, and he’s like, “What’s up, Bariloche is going great! Thanks for all the money you sent me!” Vico’s like, “Say what?” She asks Rocco if he’s been sending her dad money, but Rocco denies it.

Dunoff gathers the class to thank them for being on their best behavior for the inspector. He notices Mia is missing and sends Blas to go lift her punishment, to Sol’s displeasure. Marizza also thanks Dunoff for sticking up for her, and Dunoff’s like, “Well, you know how much I hate injustice!” He blusters that he’ll try to keep her in the school, and Pilar’s like, “Why don’t you just admit that this is all down to Papa B?” All the kids start stage-whispering and Pablo bails out of there.

He goes to the cafeteria, and Lalo gives him the keys to the kitchen storage so he can like, cry in peace. Hee! Papa B sees him and comes in to yell at him. Lalo blocks him and Papa B’s about to throw down, but then Marizza comes in and distracts him. She snarks that he just can’t get rid of her, blah blah rebeldía blah, and Papa B loses his mind and starts yelling at she doesn’t exist and he’ll expel her if it’s the last thing he does!!! Okay, crazy. Javier comes by and tells Papa B to back off.

Feli goes in to the cafeteria and yells at Lalo for getting Mia in trouble. This is his fault for…reasons. Lalo tells her to leave him alone, again, some more. He’s like, “Why don’t you fix your own life before yelling at me?” and Feli’s like, “What do you know about my life?” and Lalo’s like, “Well, I’m pretty sure your mom is like, paying that Max dude to date you.” Feli doesn’t like that at all and storms out.

Marizza rants to Javier that Papa B just wants to kick her out because she thinks he’s Pablo’s girlfriend. Javier gets all pissy that she referred to herself as Pablo’s girlfriend in his vicinity, even in the past tense. Marizza sighs that she she feels bad for Pablo, and Javier tells her to stop thinking about him and that he’ll take care of everything. He accuses her of wanting to stay at Elite Way because of Pablo, which Marizza denies.

Marcos is still trying to figure out what happened to Lujan. Laura’s like, “This whole thing is honestly kind of a drag, I’m out.” What? Laura, she’s your friend too! I don’t even know. Laura’s also stolen Blas’s phone because she’s ~rebelde~ now, and she gives it to Marcos so he can search for clues.

Javier confronts Pablo, telling him that Papa B only wants to expel Marizza because he thinks she’s dating Pablo. So like, it would really be beneficial for everyone if Javier got to date Marizza publicly, if you see where this is going. Pablo insists that the school board wants to expel Marizza, not Papa B. Javier’s like, “Bro, if you think Papa B isn’t sending a horse head to everyone on the board who disagrees with him, I don’t know how to help you.” Javier puts his hand on Pablo’s shoulder and says that Pablo should tell Marizza to leave. If he loves her, he should let her go! Oooh. I hate to say it, but that was nicely done on Javier’s part.

Mia tells Fernanda that Sol and Blas are dating, and Fernanda paid Rocco to get a video of it. Vico’s like, “So…Rocco has some extra money?” She’s suspicious all over again that Rocco might’ve sent her dad the money.

Marizza and Laura discuss the Lujan situation. Marizza thinks that Lujan is in Jujuy, since that’s where Lola’s mom is, and Blas thinks Lola’s mom is Lujan’s. But then Marcos rocks up, and he’s like, “I WISH Lujan were in Jujuy!” Oh snap! Let me guess, Lujan’s somewhere in Southern Argentina, which according to this show is a fate worse than death.

I know this blog is like from 2018 but I think I have Manuel age figured it out so he was supposed to be in 5th year in the 1st season and that’s two years older since they were in 3rd year and mia and marizza were turning 15 so they were 14 so he’s 16 most likely has a late birthday so this season he’s 17
