Previously on Rebelde Way: Marizza is getting kicked out of Elite Way! But probably not, knowing this show. Can they follow through on kicking someone out for once?
Anyway, Martavio and Sonia drop the news to Marizza that they are 100% pulling her out of Elite Way before Papa B has the chance to kick her out. Marizza starts wailing that she doesn’t want to leave and the reason she had no friends as a kid was because Sonia was always making her change schools. I think the reason Marizza had no friends is because she’s judgy and sanctimonious, but that’s just me. Marizza adds that she’s dating Javier now, so she especially doesn’t want to leave him. Yikes. Anyway, Sonia hedges that they might need to leave, but like a true father, Martavio jumps in and starts making promises that he probably can’t keep in order to seem like the cool parent. He reassures Marizza that he’ll stop Papa B from kicking her out.
Meanwhile, Blas calls Fernanda and Belen in to punish them for being mean to Sol. He assigns them a big essay on the rules of every single Olympic ever and he wants it by tomorrow. Fernanda and Belen are like, “I’m pretty sure this is an abuse of power?” and Blas is like, “No such thing in this school!” As they leave, Fernanda tells Belen that Blas and Sol are dating — that’s probably why Blas is doing all this. Belen’s all, “Quelle scandal!”
Over in the lounge, the rest of the kids are playing DDR again. WHERE DID THEY GET THAT MACHINE FROM?? I have so many questions that I just know will never get answered. After her turn, Mia runs up to Francisco to grill him more about Alejandro. She gave him her number and he never called! What’s up with that! Francisco avoids the questions and tells her that she and Alejandro shouldn’t date, as he’s kind of a player jerk. Then why did you even introduce them, Francisco? Whatever. Francisco runs off to play more DDR, leaving Mia all dejected.
Martavio and Sonia go back to her place. Martavio’s like, “I’m not racist, but I don’t like that Javier kid.” What? Is Javier not a white Argentinian like the rest of them? Whatever. I mean, I appreciate that Martavio’s stranger danger is going off, but what a weird way to phrase it. Sonia is all twitterpated over how Martavio defended Marizza and they gush over what great parents they are. Sonia hugs Martavio, and Papa C walks in on them. Punch Martavio, Papa C! I’ve been dying for something bad to happen to him! Sadly, this doesn’t happen.
In Marizza’s room, she tells Lujan and Laura that she has a new couple alert for someone at the school. Lujan and Laura are way too excited about this, given that their archetypes are “unpopular tomboy” and “unpopular nerd”, respectively. (Although all that said, no one in their class is really unpopular in the traditional sense, not even Pilar.) Fernanda cuts in from the other side of the room and deadpans that yes, yes, God and everyone already knows that Sol and Blas are banging, so who cares? The other girls are like, “…not what we were expecting at all, but okay.” Marizza’s like, “Wow, Dunoff would kill Blas or Sol or both of them if he found out.” Fernanda’s like, “Oooh, really? What a great idea!”
She scurries off, and Marizza and co. turn back to the matter at hand. Marizza tells them that she’s dating someone. Laura is immediately happy for Marizza but Lujan starts whining that she won’t be able to bear it if Marizza got back together with Pablo. Marizza tells them that she’s gotten together with Javier, and Lujan’s like, “OMG, my ship is canon!” Whatever, Lujan. Harry/Hermione shippers used to think their ship would be canon, too.
Over in Pablo’s room, Guido is still going on about his mysterious letters. “Not again with the letters,” Tomás groans. He tells Guido to chill the fuck out over those stupid letters before he gets kicked out for real. At some point Tomás became the most relatable and likable of the boys, and I have no idea when it happened but I’ll roll with it. I love him and Pilar so much, you guys. Meanwhile, Pablo is working on another romantic gesture for Marizza in the form of a poster. A sexy poster? I don’t know. Javier laughs at his efforts but is passive-aggressive and doesn’t admit that he’s dating Marizza yet.
The next day, Feli goes to the cafeteria to see Lalo. After making up with him last episode, she’s back to being a dick to him. She wants to know why he told Max that she had a boyfriend, and Lalo admits that he wanted to scare Max off because he doesn’t think he’s good enough for Feli. Feli rants that Max is from one of the richest families in Argentina, and she’s going to marry him and all his money, and PRINCESSES DON’T MARRY KITCHEN BOYS, LALO. She snipes at him that if he messes with her life again, she’ll get him fired. I don’t know why Lalo is still trying with Feli, really. He puts his job on the line every time he so much as looks at her sideways.
Over in the hallway, Mia wants to know why Vico broke up with Rocco without giving him a chance to explain himself. Vico’s like, “Because this show needs drama, that’s why.” Then Papa C calls and tells Mia that she has to go with Manuel to the doctor, for contrivance purposes. Mia tries to bargain her way into getting her shopping privileges back, but Papa C laughs and says the only way he’s lifting her punishment is if Mia apologizes to Sonia. After they hang up, Vico’s like, “Speaking of phones, isn’t weird that Alejandro hasn’t called you?” She and Mia muse that he’s the first boy who’s never called Mia back. I can’t tell if they’re impressed by that or not.
Dunoff calls Mama D and Pilar into the office and tells them that he stood up to Dunoff, so he’s probably gonna get fired and they’re probably gonna be homeless. They’re like, “Wow, we wanted you to stick up for yourself but not like, in a way that negatively impacts us.”
In the classroom, Marizza tells everyone about Papa B trying to kick her out. Pablo comes in late and gives Marizza the poster he made and he’s all, “This is for you, as a representation of our love!” “Is it to make up for what your dad’s about to do?” Fernanda snipes. Hee. Marizza tells Pablo that his dad is about to kick her out, and gets all mad at him for not realizing yet what his dad is. He’s stuck in the cycle of abuse, Marizza! Can these kids have some empathy? Pablo’s all determined to fight for his lady love and storms off.
Sol and Blas needle Fernanda and Belen about how they must be so tired from staying up late to do Blas’s assignment. They’re like, “Not really.” They tell Blas that he can’t make them do anything, because they know about his dirty illegal relationship with Sol and they can get him fired like THAT. Blas laughs in their faces and is like, “Have you noticed that I have been abusing MULTIPLE students for two years and no one cares? Nice try.” He tells them to have their work turned in tomorrow or he’ll make them repeat the school year.
Consuelo feeds Papa B Pablo’s lies about Erreway’s schedule. Papa B seethes that Erreway, that hardcore rock band, won’t get away with it this time! OH MY GOD, PAPA B, ERREWAY’S HARDEST SONG IS LIKE, “PARA COSAS BUENAS.” Anyway, he thanks Consuelo for her valuable intel and says that he’ll get her mom the medical treatment she needs. Consuelo’s like, “Oh, and also here’s a letter from Martavio’s lawyer. You’re getting served, bye.” Except much more awkwardly because she can’t act.
Feli’s mom and Max come to sit in the school’s cafeteria and be classist together. Max is rude to Lalo and Feli’s mom is like, “I love a man who thinks he’s superior to the working class!” She assures Max that Feli is super into him and Max is all twitterpated. Feli, Mia, and Vico come into the cafeteria and Feli’s mom encourages Feli and Max to hang out together. Feli is not at all thrilled, even though she was talking him up to Lalo like five minutes ago? As they walk, Max asks Feli if she’s ever been in love, and Feli admits to him that she’s had crushes, but she’s never been in real love since boys don’t like her much. Then Michi rocks up and makes a joke about Max’s name that I think is a cultural reference that goes over my head. Max thinks it’s offensive while Feli laughs her head off. Max is all judgy about the kind of company Feli keeps. Back off, Max! I can’t respect anyone who doesn’t appreciate Michi’s troll ways.
In Pablo’s apartment, Pablo confronts Papa B about kicking out Marizza. Papa B is like, “How very dare you be mad at me. I did everything for you! I moved my office here for you!” So…Pablo just shares his apartment with his dad during work hours now? Defeating the purpose of him having his own place entirely? Whatever. Anyway, Papa B’s like, “No can do on the not kicking out your girlfriend thing. Also you can’t go to Erreway gigs anymore.” Pablo agrees, but only if Papa B doesn’t expel Marizza. Papa B says he’ll talk to the school board. Wow, he caved easily.
Belen and Fernanda tell Lujan and Marizza that threatening Blas just made things worse. Lujan begs them to stop messing with them, but Marizza’s like, “No way, messing with Blas is fun!” For once, she and I are in agreement. Marizza tells Belen and Fernanda that they should just casually let Blas and Sol’s relationship slip and pretend like they didn’t do it on purpose.
Javier and Marizza to go the cafeteria. Marizza whine-exposits that Javier shouldn’t have called his mom, and Javier says that his mom can help out with the Papa B situation. Javier, are you trying to get your mom set up with a pair of cement boots?
Marcos and Manuel also come in. Manuel mentions that he needs something to take his meds with, and Marcos is like, “Is taking all these painkillers good for your stomach?” and Manuel’s like, “My stomach is fine; I’m Mexican.” Is…that a thing? Also, crazy how Manuel only remembers that he’s from Mexico when he needs to joke about it and never like, when he wants to call his mom or tiny lisping sister. Mia sees them and tells Manuel that she’s going to go with him to the doctor and they exchange barbs.
Vico muses that it’s weird that she hasn’t seen Rocco all day and goes off to look for him. She finds him all over school talking to a bunch of different girls, and she gets all sad that he’s not pining for her. Admittedly, I lowkey would like to see more pining from Rocco’s end. It’s all been very one-sided so far.
Consuelo and Pablo celebrate the success of their plan and make out. In the middle of it, Pablo starts imagining that he’s with Marizza instead and it’s awkward.
Papa C goes to see Manuel and says that they’re going to the doctor now. Wasn’t Mia going with him? Whatever, I don’t care. Maybe he meant that they would all go together. Why would he drag his daughter along to Manuel’s boring-ass appointment, though? Whatever, I don’t care x2. Manuel’s all, “Whatever, you’re not my real dad! Or my legal guardian anymore!” Papa C’s like, “What?” and Manuel tells him that he got his mom to sign some papers and fax ’em over and now Sabrina’s dad is his guardian. Faxes: how you know something in this show is serious. I also enjoy how Manuel’s mom apparently doesn’t give a fuck about what Manuel’s doing down in Argentina. My mom would’ve made me come home the second my murderous revenge plot failed.
Papa C storms up to Mia all aflutter over Manuel’s ~rebeldía. Mia’s like, “Whatever, I need money to fix my hair” and she and Papa C argue over her punishment some more. Then Marizza comes up and Papa C wants to know how things are going with her pending expulsion. Marizza needles Papa C that her parents are hanging out together, bonding over their legal meetings. They’re probably making out over the documents as she speaks! After Papa C leaves, Mia and Marizza agree that they have to break their parents up.
Belen and Fernanda tell Dunoff about Sol and Blas dating, but he says he won’t do anything about proof. Whatever, like that would be hard. Sol and Blas make out all over that school with impunity.
Pablo sighs to Tomás that he’s really having a hard time with Marizza. Then: “Do you want some Bubbaloo?” There’s never a bad time for product placement! Tomás is like, “I dunno, man, this whole thing isn’t going well for you and you’re doing shit like running out of class for her. Maybe you should give up.” Pablo’s like, “I’ll never give up because I know she likes me too!” Yeah, Tomás, we can’t all just randomly hook up with Pilar one day without any buildup because this show is a mess.
Anyway, then Marizza rocks up and Pablo takes her outside to tell her the news about Papa B. She thanks him for helping her, and Pablo tells her yet again that he did it because he’s crazy in love with her. They make out, but then Marizza tells him that she’s dating Javier. She’s like, “I know he’s lied to me, but he won’t hurt me like you did.” Pablo tries to protest, but Marizza says that she doesn’t believe he’s changed. But…she believes Javier even though he lied to her after promising not to?? She just said so?? And she hates liars?? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
Pilar writes Dunoff yet another letter to tell him that she’s proud that he stood up to Papa B. Pilar, you live with him AND he’s the principal of your school. Just tell him this shit in person.
Meanwhile, Mama D is teaching English class. Javier drops his pencil on the floor and goes to pick it up by saying, “My pencil…floor.” On the one hand: that’s about as good as my Spanish, so. On the other hand: I enjoy watching Javier fail at things. “Disgusting English,” Mama D says. Hey, don’t hold back, Mama D. Everything about Javier is disgusting. Javier takes the opportunity to ask Lujan if Marizza is missing from class because she’s with Pablo. Lujan’s like, “No way, she would never hang out with him, you two are meant to be.” Javier doesn’t believe her and asks to go to the bathroom. He starts miming and it’s weird and gross. Mama D lets him go before he physically gets his dick out in class or something.
Etchamendi and Dunoff meet and Etchamendi tells Dunoff that he doesn’t like Papa B much, and he wants Dunoff to be ~rebelde. Not in so many words. And also not like, really rebelde, just rebelde enough to cover Etchamendi’s ass in this whole expulsion scandal. I don’t know; it’s boring. I don’t know why they thought any of the teenagers watching this show care about intra-school board corruption.
Javier confronts Marizza about hanging out with Pablo, and she tells him that Pablo asked her for another chance — but she turned him down, because she’s with Javier now. Javier is pleased by this in a really creepy way. Marizza says she’ll give Pablo’s poster back, and Javier volunteers to do it for her.
Papa C and Sonia go to their new house. Papa C is all salty over Martavio and Sonia — again, some more — and says that Martavio is clearly still in love with Sonia. They agree not to mess up their housewarming with an argument, but then their makeout session is interrupted by a call from Martavio. Sonia doesn’t answer to prove that she likes Papa C better, which means that this is the one time Martavio is calling about something important. Them’s the law of telenovelas.
And now, let us loudly transition into Pablo being emo to the tune of “Dije audios”! He flashbacks to all the good times with Marizza and I hate to say it, but I bet the reason she didn’t want to get back together is because Pablo’s current haircut is tragic. He really looks better with it a little longer. Anyway, after his flashbacks end, Javier rocks up with the poster Pablo made for Marizza. “I have something to return to you,” he tells Pablo. Harsh! Pablo snaps that he also has something for Javier, and he headbutts him and runs away. Hee. He couldn’t punch him, huh?
Vico sees Rocco and Fernanda together and loses her damn mind. Feli and Mia are like, “Is there a reason, maybe, that you don’t like seeing Rocco with other girls?” Vico doesn’t like that at all and storms off. After she leaves, Feli tells Mia that she’s committing to this Max thing — not because she really likes him, but he’s rich and doesn’t seem totally repulsed by her, which is as good as it gets. Oh, Feli. Then Mia takes her turn talking about boys; she tells Feli that Alejandro hasn’t called her and tasks Feli with finding out what happened.
Then Marizza comes up and tells Mia that they have permission to leave — because why not, because they had their total three classes for the day — so they decide to go to Papa C and Sonia’s new house to wreak havoc. It’s weird how they keep calling it Papa C and Sonia’s house like Mia and Marizza wouldn’t live there too. It’s super weird that the whole “stepchildren” thing seems to have not entered into their thought process at all. Anyway, as they’re making a bunch of passive-aggressive comments about the house, Marizza goes through Sonia’s messages and listens to the one from Martavio. Say it with me: “NO PUEDE SER!”
