Previously on Rebelde Way: Everyone at school found out about Manuel’s sexual indiscretion, except Mia, of course. But still! Everyone else knows! Good enough for me!
However, now we gotta buckle in, because this episode is LONG AS FUCK. There are no intros. There are no outros. There is only the cold, unending chasm of Mia and Manuel’s love drama.
So when we last left our heroes, Feli was bawling in Mia’s arms about how she knows a HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, MOST HIDEOUS secret. Does Mia get to find out what it is? Of course not. Marizza comes up and tries to hustle Mia off, and then they’re all making a fuss in the hallway when Carmen walks by. She tells them to get to class, and Mia snaps at her to give them a minute. Carmen’s like, “How very dare!” and hauls Mia into the classroom. Marizza snaps at Feli not to tell Mia about Manuel and Sabrina, or she’s going to strip her naked in the middle of the hallway. What? What the hell kind of threat is that? What the fuck, Marizza?

Feli runs off, so Marizza goes to class alone. Carmen announces to the class that she has a VERY INTERESTING story to read to them, by one of their classmates. Lujan and Marizza sweatdrop. Then Blas comes in and says that he wants to sit in on her reading, and kicks Francisco out of his seat. Even Carmen thinks this is weird.

Meanwhile, Javier’s faking an asthma attack or a panic attack or whatever illness he’s come up with this time. Papa B’s like, “If you’re faking this, there will be consequences!” while Ines shrieks at him to stop berating her son in the middle of a medical emergency. On the one hand, Papa B’s not wrong. On the other hand, it’s hilarious to watch him be all, “THIS BETTER BE A REAL MEDICAL EMERGENCY!” while Javier gasps for breath.

Carmen reads Lujan’s story out loud, and announces that she plagiarized it. Marizza and Lujan surprisingly confess immediately, and hand over Lujan’s real story. Lujan snipes that it’s about the worst criminal the city’s ever seen and his supposed son. Carmen’s like, “This is weird, but okay,” and agrees to read it. This is such a waste of class time. But Blas cuts her off, and grabs the story and drags Lujan to the office. Then Martavio comes in and like…hits on Carmen? And she’s really into it? And I don’t understand why or how this is happening? He gets her to leave the classroom, and tells the class that one of the orphans is sick, and they need to get medication to the orphanage somehow. Tomás is like, “If only we had the raffle money!” which leads Marizza to start yelling at Sol for stealing it in front of God and everybody. Rocco looks over at Vico, who’s looking v. guilty.
Manuel tells Sabrina that he has to get back to school after spending the day together. Sabrina has yet another ugly hat on. Does she have one of those in every color? Why did we ever think those hats looked good? Anyway, Sabrina’s like, “Go back to your girlfriend! I’ll be fine! I probably won’t die of cancer while you’re gone!” and Manuel decides that he has to stick around a bit longer and protect his fragile chrysanthemum of a side chick. He’s so predictable.

Sonia tells Hilda about how Papa C indirectly insulted her profession at dinner. Hilda’s like, “He wasn’t talking about YOU” and Sonia’s like, “It’s the principle of the thing!” Then Papa C shows up, and he gives Sonia a big speech about how he doesn’t care about her job and just wants to be with her. Sonia won’t believe it and breaks up with him.
Javier’s recovered from his fake asthma attack, and he’s crying to Ines and Papa B that his classmates at his old school were sooooo mean to him, and that’s why he skipped school. He had to spend his days studying, along, because no one wanted to be friends with him 🙁 That’s why he’s such a good student 🙁 It’s so hard 🙁 God, I hate him. He’s so boring! Like he’s not even fun in a trashy way! Papa B and Ines discuss what to do: Papa B’s like, “I’ll make a man out of him!” while Ines wibbles that Javier needs love and understanding. “No, he needs boundaries,” Papa B snaps. I hate that I agree with Papa B. Your son is a budding serial killer, Ines! Recognize!

After class, Pablo and Marizza discuss how they’re going to send Mia and Manuel away on a trip before Mia finds out that Manuel’s been cheating on her. Javier comes up and tries to talk to Marizza, but she blows him off, which pleases Pablo. Then Mia rocks up and she’s like, “Gosh, everyone keeps acting really weird around me. It’s like they’re hiding something from me!” Subtlety, thy name is not telenovelas. Marizza panics and shoves the tickets and brochures into Mia’s hands and is like, “You have to go on vacation with Manuel! Now!” Mia’s like, “Uh…why?” and Pablo’s like, “Because…Marizza will explain it.” Heh. He’s no help at all.

Marizza’s like, “Remember when Manuel was kidnapped?” and Mia’s like, “Sure,” and I’m like, “Barely,” because that was for freaking ever ago. Anyway, Marizza BSes that Manuel’s somehow in trouble with the law — again — for kidnapping himself — again — so Mia and Manuel need to run away together while Marizza and Pablo like, tell the police that it’s all been a wacky misunderstanding. For some reason, Mia doesn’t question why this whole thing is being handled by a bunch of 15-year-olds, and she takes the tickets and runs off. Marizza and Pablo promptly collapse onto the pool table. Hee.

Rocco gives Vico a bunch of money and tells her to resolve whatever she has to resolve, and to stop being so shady. Vico is weirded out, but takes the money.
Hilda runs after Papa C and tells him not to give up on Sonia. She’s like, “I ship you guys so hard! I already have your wedding planned! Don’t fuck this up for me!”
Blas takes Lujan into her room, because imagine him not being creepy and interrogating her in the presence of another adult, and yells at her that her story is lies. What, did he read it already? I don’t know. Lujan snaps that it’s true and it’s how she really feels, and she knows who he is, blah blah blah. Blas nervously backs down, which is weird because it’s not like she’s saying anything she hasn’t accused him of before. What the hell was in that story?

Meanwhile, Feli’s storming down the hallway, set on telling Mia that Manuel is cheating on her. Vico tells her not to, because everyone in this school is hellbent on defending Manuel for some reason. I mean — okay, look, telling your friend that her boyfriend is cheating on her is an awkward situation. It’s not always super clear-cut what you should do, what’s in your boundaries as a friend and what’s not, etc. That said, in this case, when the entire damn school knows Manuel’s cheating and is talking behind Mia’s back, you could probably give her a heads-up, especially since she’s already noticed that everyone’s acting weird around her.
Anyway, Vico glares Feli into saying it was nothing, and Vico adds that Feli was just upset over Leo. Mia gives Feli a whole speech about how love is about trust, like what she and Manuel have. Feli and Vico are like, “Awkward.” Feli BSes that she’s worried about the raffle money, and Vico’s like, “OMG, that’s right! Let’s look for it!” She conveniently finds the money in their room, which distracts Mia, but not Feli.

Marizza congratulates Lujan on shutting Blas up, and tells her that she has to write to her tutor and tell him all about it. Lujan really already forgot about how she started investigating her tutor and found out that he was hella shady and played by a weird actor, huh? Lujan starts crying and says she wishes she could share her victory with Marcos. What? Why are all these girls hung up on stupid boys?

Mia starts packing for her trip, and tells Vico about the whole Manuel kidnapping story. She tells Vico not to tell Feli, and also makes her tell all the adults in Mia’s life that she and Manuel have run away together. Okay, wow, this whole thing went from “send Mia and Manuel on a nice getaway” to “convince them to go on the run from the law” real fast. Vico’s less enthused about lying to all the grown-ups, but agrees anyway.
Marcos walks in on Francisco harassing Laura again, some more, and tells him to back off, again, some more. Francisco snaps that maybe they should handle this like men, and Marcos snarks that he doesn’t see another man, he just sees a baby. Burn! I feel kind of dirty liking Marcos again, but then again, he only looks good compared to Francisco, who’s a sexual harasser. The bar is low. Anyway, Laura begs Marcos not to fight Francisco, and Marcos backs down for her sake. Laura’s like, “You’re not like the other boys. You’re different.” No, Laura. He really isn’t. They bond over both being nerds with shitty families, although Marcos points out that at least Laura’s sister is alive. Laura comforts him and they keep looking at each other in that telenovela way that means they’re going to hook up in the next thirty episodes. Or in this one! Damn, this episode moves fast.

Sol and her gang have somehow come up with the idea to make a video of themselves singing or whatever. I don’t know why or how they think this is going to help with getting revenge on Mia. They ask Rocco to film them, but he says he doesn’t have his camera. Pilar immediately figures out that he’s lying — she’s like, “He only carries that thing around everywhere, duh.” She muses that she’s going to get to the bottom of this. “But we can’t go into the boys’ rooms,” derps Belen. Pilar’s like, “What? No, I’m gonna get Tomás to find out for me.” Hee.

Pablo comes into the cafeteria, and Marizza barks at him that he’s supposed to be waiting to intercept Manuel. Pablo’s like, “I just want a drink,” and Marizza yells at him to go back to his post and she’ll bring him something. Heh. Then I guess Tomás is a better boy detective than he appears, because in the span of like five minutes he’s figured out what happened to Rocco’s camera. He brings a receipt to Pilar in the cafeteria, and tells her that Rocco apparently sold his camera. Vico overhears this and realizes that Rocco sold his camera to give her money.

Hilda tells Sonia that Papa C’s showed up to the school, and he’s getting ready to tell God and everybody who Marizza’s real father is. That convinces Sonia to go see him, but of course he just said that to get her out there, and he’s actually proposing. Dude! What the fuck! I mean, I’m happy for them, but dang, that was fast. Their own kids don’t even know they’re dating! Papa C’s like, “Yeah, we should probably tell them before we walk down the aisle.”

Meanwhile, Papa Spirito has shown up for the first time since like…episode one? I have no idea. Marizza freaks out and runs away when she sees him, but Gloria drags her back. Papa Spirito tells Marizza that he and his new girlfriend are trying to have a kid, but Marizza’s not going to have a sibling on his side, if she gets his drift. Marizza’s like, “Uh…that sucks, bro?” and he elaborates that he’s sterile. Marizza’s like, “I thought that meant that you don’t have to take a bath.” Finally Papa Spirito’s like, “I cannot and have never been able to have kids,” and Marizza’s like, “Wait, so who’s my dad, then?”
I can’t believe after like seventy episodes of filler, everybody’s secrets are getting spilled in the span of like two episodes.
Papa Spirito says that he doesn’t know, and Sonia probably doesn’t know either. He’s like, “Look on the bright side! You always hated me, now you don’t have to hang out with me anymore!” Marizza’s like, “That’s not helping.” On a sweeter note, Papa Spirito says that if he did have a daughter, he’d want her to be like Marizza. I mean, I say “sweeter” compared to most of this conversation, but it’s weird how he’s acting like he wasn’t basically Marizza’s dad anyway. Anyway, he’s like, “It’s been real, peace out,” and leaves. Marizza is dumbstruck.

Manuel and Sabrina finally haul their asses back to school. They make awkward small talk about how Manuel’s going to be there for her forever and always, just not like, sexually, except Sabrina’s like, “Oh, sexually too, for sure,” and Manuel’s like, “What?” and Sabrina’s like, “What?” They finally part, and Pablo runs up and tells Manuel that he can’t go inside the school yet, because all hell has broken loose. Manuel flips out that everyone has somehow found out that he cheated on Mia. Bro! You’re not allowed to get mad about this! It’s literally your fault! Pablo tells him that he and Mia have to run away, and Manuel decides to tell Mia everything when they’re far away from everyone and she’s isolated and she can’t leave him. I mean, not in so many words, but that’s the gist of it.
Vico thanks Rocco for selling his camera for her and pecks him on the mouth. Aw!

Sabrina goes to hang out with her friend and evilly tell her that her plan to make Manuel hang out with her is working. Seriously, that’s the whole point of this plan: make Manuel hang out with her and feel bad for her and…that’s going to make him love her…eventually. Look, I won’t pretend to know what goes on in Sabrina’s head. She thinks those hats are cute, for one. And she’s just going to keep playing the blood test/leukemia card until Manuel’s spent enough time with her to fall in love with her. That’s her whole plan. Oh my God, Sabrina, go to college and get a degree and do something with your life other than trying to seduce a 20-year-old high school student with frosted tips.

Papa B browbeats Dunoff into letting Javier into the fourth-year class. Oh goody! Just what we all wanted, more Javier in this show. Javier pitches a fit about it to his mom, but she snaps at him that he’s going to Elite Way whether he likes or not. Or whether any of us like it or not, for that matter.
Meanwhile, Pablo and Lola are still dating. Man, I completely forgot about that. She tries to hang out with him, but he blows her off because he’s gotta go fix Manuel’s life for him. Lola snipes that Laura’s probably enjoying her misery, and Laura, thinking of Marcos and his dead brother, tries to be nice to Lola. God, they really gave these two the most confusing names they could think of. Laura almost tells Lola that she’s adopted, but then she doesn’t.

Papa C and Sonia are still celebrating their engagement by making out in Sonia’s car like two teenagers. Sonia stops to listen to her voicemail, and finds a message from Marizza saying that if Sonia doesn’t come see her right now, she’s going to do something crazy. Papa C’s like, “So it’s a day ending in Y, then.”
Marizza is wandering through the school being emo. Pablo catches up to her and starts to talk about their plan, but then he notices that she’s in a mood. “What’s wrong?” he asks, and Marizza hugs him. Aw! It’s less cute after they’re hugging for like three whole minutes. That’s gotta be uncomfortable for Pablo.

Laura frets to Marcos that she’s a bad sister, and Marcos strokes her ego. They make out, and Francisco catches them. He’s all mad that Marcos would like, kiss Laura with her permission. He yells at them and then storms off, and Marcos and Laura are kind of like, “Whatever,” because seriously, who even cares what Francisco thinks at this point?

Manuel and Mia are off walking to…wherever the hell they’re going. I love how this school is either basically a prison or people can just waltz in and out whenever the hell they want, depending on what the plot requires. Mia notices that Manuel’s upset and is like, “What’s your deal?” What? Doesn’t Mia think they have to run away so Manuel doesn’t get in trouble with the law? That’s a pretty good reason to be tense. He’s like, “It’s nothing,” and they walk off all happy.
Over in a much less disturbing relationship, Pablo’s comforting Marizza. She eventually stops crying and is like, “You’re not gonna start nosing around my business and asking what’s up?” Heh. Not everyone is you, Marizza! Sweetly, Pablo tells her that the only thing that matters is that she’s okay. Then Sonia rocks up and ruins the moment, and Pablo skedaddles. Marizza tells Sonia that she found out that Papa Spirito can’t have kids. Sonia’s immediate reaction is, “OMG, I can’t believe he told you without consulting me,” which really just clinches it for Marizza. Sonia admits that Papa Spirito isn’t Marizza’s dad, and swears she was going to tell Marizza. She was, too! I had to watch her waffle over it for like eighty episodes! Marizza starts crying and demanding to know who her father is, and Sonia’s crying, and it’s actually pretty genuinely affecting. Aw! I love when I can compliment this show unironically!

So anyway, Marizza’s shrieking at Sonia to TELL HER WHO IT IS, and finally Martavio rolls up and is all, “IT IS I!”
For contrivance purposes, Mia’s forgotten the tickets and she and Manuel have to come back to school. She runs up to her room, and Manuel waits for her in the hall. Pablo walks up and asks Manuel if he’s really going to tell Mia everything. Manuel says he will, because it sure would be unfortunate if Mia were to find out from anyone else! Naturally, Feli and Vico are talking about Manuel’s cheating in their room, just as Mia’s headed there.

Manuel blathers on about how he thinks Mia will understand, because she’s been seeming more mature lately. What? She’s supposed to understand that her boyfriend got tired of pressuring her into sex and slept with someone else, because that’s…mature? Manuel is the worst. And then, of course, Mia walks into the room just as Feli’s bleating that GOD AND EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT MANUEL SLEPT WITH SABRINA!!!

Then Mia goes back downstairs and slaps Manuel. Twice.
