Rebelde Way 2×033: Stirring Shit

Marizza’s broken down crying over Pablo, and Martavio holds her and comforts her, saying, “Don’t cry, daughter.” Awkward! Even more awkward: Sonia finds Martavio hugging Marizza, and understandably flips out. I’m glad someone here is worried about inappropriate teacher-student relationships, although she’s slightly late on the uptake. Marizza defends Martavio, but Sonia says she gets weird vibes from him nevertheless. She’s like, “I know what old, weird teachers want with young female students!”, which is kind of played like it’s a nod to Sonia’s own inappropriate relationship to Dunoff. That’s intriguingly self-aware, if so.

Andres shows up, and Marizza grumps to him that Sonia has way too much time on her hands. She needs a distraction — ooh, like a new boyfriend! Oh, God. How many more placeholder boyfriends must I sit through? Where are you, Papa C? (Seriously, though, where the fuck is he?)

Meanwhile, Lola is still trying to wingman (badly) for Bianca. You’ll recall she stole Rocco’s camera, to…fill it up with sexy images of Bianca? It was unclear, but either way, she has to put it back in his room now. Bianca’s all freaked out at the idea of entering the boys’ rooms, but Lola drags her in. And then Bianca ditches her at the door anyway. Hee! Bianca is out to save her own skin and no one else’s, and I love her for it. Lola sneaks on ahead, completely oblivious to Guido watching her from the corner until she turns around. He’s pissed at Rocco for the whole repressed homosexuality thing, so he promises not to bust Lola for messing with Rocco’s stuff. Then, once she leaves, he goes over to Rocco’s side of the room and is like, “I’ll show you repressed homosexuality!”, which sounds like the start of something weird, but really he’s just grabbing Rocco’s camera to mess with it further.

Rocco comes in later to find out that his camera has been completely busted, and Guido’s like, “That’s too bad, huh?”

Marizza meets Pablo in the laundry room, and tells him that she’s going ahead with the school workshops idea, and the first one is gonna be a model workshop. “But we just said we’d talk to each other about making decisions,” Pablo derps. “I forgot,” Marizza says. “I trusted you, and you went behind my back!” Pablo wails. “Like you?” Marizza snarks, and she’s about to bring up the rumors about them sleeping together, when Mia and Manuel waltz in. Oh, so this is just an Erreway meeting? How unclear. Anyway, they say Rocco wrote a pretty decent song, and then we’re treated to a lipsynced version of “Será de dios.” Pablo and Marizza stare dramatically at each other as they sing. Or don’t sing. Whatever.

In the not-library, Bianca shows Lola Rocco’s camera battery and snarks that Lola must have taken it. Lola insists that she didn’t, and runs off to put it back. Rocco sees her, and concludes that she must have been the one to break his camera. He starts getting all threateny, and then Francisco runs in to defend Lola’s honor. He’s all, “If you touch her again, it’ll be the last thing you ever do!” and Lola gets over her fear of Rocco real fast and is like, “OMG, this is so hot!” Lola hasn’t quite grasped this situation properly, I don’t think.

So she decides that this is more proof that Francisco loves her, so she visits him in his room at night and makes out with him. YIKES. In his asleep stupor, Francisco thinks she’s Laura (oh Lord) and is like, “Our love is so real!” and Lola’s like, “It totally is!”

The next day. Manuel wakes Mia up early for a romantic picnic…in the school parking lot. Aw. Honestly, I find that kind of charming, in a “oh, high school kids on a budget” kind of way. They’re all over each other, and who should round the corner and see them but Blas? Blas, it’s a fucking Saturday. Go off campus and like, have a life that doesn’t involve stalking teenagers.

Tomás and Guido pick up on Pablo’s emo vibes, and Pablo says that he’s upset over Marizza. “Ugh, what did she do now?” Tomás asks. Hee. After Guido and Rocco leave, Tomás tells Pablo that he thinks Sol likes him, and he doesn’t want to break bro code. Pablo’s like, “Sol? Likes you? Ha, as if,” and leaves. Poor dumb Tomás is all hurt that Pablo thinks Sol doesn’t like him.

Francisco jumps on Laura at the first chance he gets and sticks his tongue down her throat. He’s all, “I knew you couldn’t resist my stalking and pushiness forever!” Laura’s like, “What the fuck?” and runs away from him.

Marizza asks Rocco to film Pablo for revenge purposes. She tells him about the rumor going around, that Pablo slept with her, and Rocco’s like, “I ship it.” Marizza promises to get him a new camera, and then he can stalk Pablo for her.

Blas tells Mia that he knows she and Manuel are back together, and emotionally dicks her around by saying he wants to be friends again. Mia, he’s not even a good friend! He totally fucked up Manuel’s kidnapping investigation, and you can’t even copy his homework. You’re getting nothing out of this! Nevertheless, Mia agrees, and tells him all the gory details of her and Manuel’s relationship — well, mostly that Manuel told her that Nulieta meant nothing to him, and she believes him. That gives Blas a most dastardly idea. When Manuel turns in his “Why Having Sex Under the School Stairs is Bad” essay, Blas tells him that he changed his mind, and Manuel and Nulieta have to write the essay together. So he’ll just leave them alone in this room and call Mia over to conveniently see them, bye now! Nulieta tells Manuel that it really hurt when he dumped her five seconds after they started dating, and for a moment it looks like they might have a grown-up conversation about the struggle about being nothing but a placeholder for Manuel’s real love interest, but naturally Nulieta just wants to make out with Manuel again. Love yourself, Nulieta. Manuel tells her that it’s over between them.

Mia’s all betrayed by their kiss, even though she should’ve heard Manuel shut Nulieta down like right afterwards. Whatever.

Lola runs up to Laura in the cafeteria, and she gushes that Francisco’s her boyfriend now. She’s all like, “I made out with him when he was half-unconscious, and it was awesome.” Laura puts two and two together, but doesn’t tell Lola yet. Instead, Lola goes around the school being all love happy, even as Bianca points out that Francisco is avoiding her like usual and isn’t giving a single indication that they kissed last night. Lola’s like, “Stop saying words.”

Manuel sits Mia down to talk to her responsibly about Nulieta. She flips out because sure, let’s just go with the extraneous drama. I swear to God, if they break up literally two episodes after getting back together, I’m gonna cry. Thankfully Manuel manages to calm her down, and he’s like, “Let’s be responsible and actually talk about our problems this time!” and Mia agrees. What are the chances all Manuel’s reasonableness is going to go out the window the second Blas gets within half a foot of Mia?

Laura tells Francisco what Lola did, and he’s super over-the-top pissy about it. I mean, I can kind of get why — nobody wants to be tongued while they’re unconscious — but he’s acting like it’s Laura’s fault that he got all twitterpated and hallucinated her, so I don’t know. Anyway, he confesses to Lola that he only kissed her back because he thought she was her sister, because he’s still in love with Laura. Lola’s crushed, so much so that she doesn’t even start flipping out and trying to break shit. Instead she just wanders around and mopes, which freaks Francisco and Bianca out. They’re all like, “Do you want to get violent on someone? Will that make you feel better?”, but Lola just quietly says, “Not this time.” Awwww.

Lujan bugs Marcos about going to see his mom, but Marcos doesn’t want to go. She keeps needling him and he tells her to fuck off for being clingy, except only slightly more nicely. Lujan doesn’t pick up on his pissy vibes at all, and runs off all, “When you’re ready, I’ll be right here waiting, forever and ever, and I’ll never leave you literally ever!” Marcos is all, “UGH, my girlfriend’s traumatic childhood and abandonment issues are SUCH A PAIN.” An excellent time for Fernanda to swoop in! She pouts to Marcos that her parents want her to learn how to ride horses, and she needs an instructor. Maybe Marcos could teach her! Marcos’s boner is all flattered that she thinks he’s good enough to instruct her, and agrees to do it. Marcos is the worst.

Martavio complains to his dumbass barber about his fuck-up, calling Marizza his daughter. Dumbass Barber’s like, “Well, she is your daughter,” and Martavio’s like, “But she doesn’t know that! And I don’t either, actually.” Dumbass Barber suggests that Marizza’s already forgotten, but when Martavio goes back to school, Marizza totally has not forgotten. She wants to know why he called her “hija”, and he’s like, “Oh…uh…that’s just what everyone calls girls where I’m from. Which is…not here. Actually, I’m from everywhere, because I travel a lot. Central America is pretty fun!” Marizza gets distracted and wants to know all about where he’s been, and they bond over their love of travel, with Marizza gushing to him over her trip to Machu Picchu. Aw.

Pablo, Guido, and Tomás are…looking up chicks online? They read out a bunch of descriptions and decide to call one of the girls, whose phone number is just out there for God and everybody to look at. Are they hiring prostitutes? ‘Cause that’s the vibe I’m getting. Anyway, Pablo makes a date with one girl, and asks her to bring friends along for Tomás and Guido. Marizza overhears this and seethes, and storms up to tell Pablo that they have to talk about VERY IMPORTANT student council business NOW.

Gloria hits on Martavio some more. She finds out he’s single, and drops hints to him that she’s also single. He’s like, “Good to know.” Then Dunoff comes in and he’s like, “Ugh, Elite Way has been invited to rugby competition! I hate rugby competitions!” and Martavio’s like, “So don’t do it,” and Dunoff’s like, “NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF ELITE WAY SCHOOL [drink!] have we turned down an invitation to compete!” But…doesn’t Elite Way not do sports competitions? Why doesn’t anything on this show make sense? So anyway, they have to participate, for the honor and glory of Elite Way. Their team consists of…Francisco and Manuel. What? I don’t know much about rugby but I think they need more players than that. Once he hears that Manuel’s on the team, Blas offers to coach, presumably to fuck shit up.

Fernanda tells Sol’s gang that she’s slowly working her way into Marcos’s pants via horseback riding lessons, but Sol’s more concerned about being the best model at the model workshop. Whatever, it only comes up this once, so let’s move on.

Vico and Mia are working on their model workshop…papers…or whatever. Vico says she wants to learn to be like Kate Moss, and Mia scoffs at her: “She’s way too skinny!” Mia’s going to be very disappointed by the state of the fashion industry in 10 years. (Mia’s favorite model, by the way, is Cindy Crawford.) Vico’s stepmom calls her, presumably to warn Vico that her dad is an abusive piece of shit, but her dad grabs the phone away from her stepmom. He hangs up and starts yelling, “Were you going to tell her that I hit you? WERE YOU?” Vico’s stepmom wails that she was just going to invite Vico to dinner, but Vico’s dad is like, “Abusive man does not listen to puny woman!” Over at school, Vico’s like, “That was weird,” and tells Mia that she thinks something weird is going on at her dad’s house. Mia’s like, “Eh, probably not.” Oh, Mia.

Marizza takes Pablo out to the back of the school and tells him she wants to spend the night with him. Pablo’s like, “What the fuck?” and Marizza’s like, “Well, all the girls say that you’re good, I wanna see if it’s true~” Pablo hella clams up, but Marizza keeps pushing the point. Man, this is like the beginning of at least half of the corny romance novels I own. He’s like, “But you hate me,” and Marizza’s like, “Yeah, but I want to see your inner sex bomb.” Pablo’s more mature than me, because I would not be able to stop laughing after hearing that. Anyway, he manages to resist his baser urges and tells her no. Marizza’s like, “Oh. I was not expecting this outcome.”
