Opening monologue: We tell lies because we’re afraid of the truth, and afraid of the power of ~love. Wait, they just did this yesterday.
Erreway has just pulled off another successful performance at the club. I guess they don’t really run the risk of getting tired or forgetting words when they only perform one song at a time. Blas is less than pleased — he dates teenage girls because they don’t have any accomplishments that might threaten his ego! Also, Manuel vaguely revealed Blas’s thing with Mia. Seriously, it makes no sense (he says something about how the next song is about a certain situation, if you get his drift, and then they sing “Será porque te quiero”, which has nothing to do with statutory rape or stalking at all, so I don’t know what Blas’s deal is). Papa C overhears Blas mention his girlfriend, and swoops in demanding to know who that is. My kingdom for Blas getting punched twice in as many episodes, amen.
Sadly, that does not happen. Sonia cuts in and says she’s Blas’s new girlfriend. Blas looks incredibly uncomfortable with the whole situation, probably because Sonia is legal. Papa C is all incredulous that Blas would date someone with a developed frontal lobe, and he and Sonia get into a fight. Again. Anyway, then Papa C tells Manuel and Mia to come to lunch with him and Mercedes, and Manuel accepts on Mia’s behalf.
In the lounge, Vico cuddles with Guido and listens to him be emo over his parents. Love yourself, Vico. He cries about how his mom is the nicest lady in the world, and he was a total dick to her. Vico’s like, “Whatever, so your mom was a maid. Mia’s mom was a cheating drug addict, so don’t feel too bad.” Even after his tears, Guido still doesn’t want to tell the truth about his mom. Then a bunch of guys walk in on them and start mocking Guido for going where all the boys in school have gone before. Guido wants to fight them to defend Vico’s honor, but she drags him off. In fairness, it’s just the Diegos and tertiary boys who don’t even have names. I bet even Guido could take them.
Simon takes Feli off the dance floor to get a drink, and tries to convince Pablo and Marizza to come with them. He claims to want bygones to be bygones, but Pablo and Marizza are all pissed with him for getting Pablo’s car. Then Pablo contrivedly has to use the bathroom, leaving Marizza to Simon’s clutches. Tomás catches up to Pablo and says his cousin and her friend are losing interest, so Pablo better dump Marizza now.
Blas wants to hang out with Mia tomorrow, but she tells him she has to go to lunch with her dad and Manuel. Blas sulks, because he’s a total baby.
The next day, Mia and Vico want to know how Feli’s doing with Simon. They encourage her, but she thinks he’s out of her league. Mia talks Feli into getting Simon’s number, and she’ll take care of the rest.
Mercedes comes to see Papa C, and pouts to him that Mia blames her for not having her dream quince. She makes out like she’s worried Mia will try something if they spend the whole day together, but Papa C assures her that he and Manuel will be there. Then he rants to her about Sonia dating Blas, and what an affront to common decency it is, blah blah blah. Mercedes is all annoyed that he’s so obsessed with Sonia, then acts cute to cover up how annoyed she is. They only do this like every ten episodes, so whatever. Dude, what episode did Mercedes first show up in? I feel like I’ve been watching her forever, and she is incredibly boring and terrible at being evil. I bet drying paint would be a more effective villain.
Pablo predictably did not break up with Marizza last night. Tomás yells at him for standing his cousin and her friend up, and Pablo’s like, “I’m totally going to break up with Marizza! Any day now!” He BSes that he can’t do it today, though. Probably not tomorrow, either. Tomás snaps that his cousin still wants to hang out with them, for some reason, so Pablo better do it soon. Then Guido comes in, all twitterpated over Vico. He tells them he’s in love with her, and they’re like, “She’s dated half the school!” I mean…so have both of them. Pablo’s pretty decent about it, and is just like, “Whatever, if you like her, you like her.” Tomás, though, tells Guido that the whole school is laughing at him. I bet the whole school laughs at Tomás all the time, so Guido shouldn’t feel too bad.
Meanwhile, Vico waxes on to Mia and Feli about how in love she is with Guido. Love yourself, Vico! Mia and Feli remind Vico that Guido was in the Society, and is also just kind of all-around gross. “The important thing is that you’re happy,” Mia says. Aw! Feli gets all emo that Mia and Vico have boyfriends while she doesn’t. Mia’s boyfriend is a sex offender, Feli, so don’t feel too bad. Simon shows up, and Mia says she wants to scout locations for her quince photos with him, but she’s busy today, so Feli will go in her stead. She and Vico shove Feli at Simon and run off. Feli is incapable of acting like a normal human being, and Simon is weirded out.
Pablo and Marizza run into each other, and look at each other all awkwardly before kissing. They’re so cute, and I know it’s just going to end badly. Pablo breaks up with her, and by “breaks up with her”, I mean “invites her to lunch with his dad.” Marizza says she can’t go, leaving Pablo perturbed in her wake. He overhears Mia and Vico talking about Simon, and he’s like, “YOU HAVE INVITED MY ENEMY INTO MY HOUSE!”
Guido recalls everyone mocking him for dating Vico, and gets all insecure. Let me guess, he’s gonna be an ass and break up with her after like half an episode of dating. Nice. And then…yup, Vico knocks on the door, and he pretends he’s not there.
Back in the lounge, Marizza and Luna congratulate Lujan on hooking it up with Marcos. Wait, wasn’t she meant to go dramatically meet the orphanage lady with him? Did they just skip over that? Of course they did. Blas comes in and needles them for having too much fun, and they tell him to go away. Does he? Of course he doesn’t. He just hovers creepily nearby, and overhears that Lujan is in love. He’s all mad. Orphans don’t get to be in love!
Mia and Manuel leave for Papa C’s lunch, and needle each other over which one of them is lowering their standards more. Mia snips that if he thinks that keeping her away from school all day will stop her from going out with Blas, he’s wrong. They’re going out tonight! That’s not something to be proud of, Mia. Blas gets all territorial and macks on Mia before they leave. Manuel ushers her into the car, then pretends he can’t make it and runs away. Conveniently, Nico also just happens to be walking around outside, and he runs into Manuel. He’s like, “You ran away from Mia ’cause you still like her, huh?” Manuel’s like, “Stop saying words.”
Back at school, Marizza is flipping through CDs for her quince. Luna and Lujan squeal about how fun it will be to dance with their boyfriends to the musical stylings of Luis Miguel, but Marizza is cranky that Pablo has plans today. But then he shows up anyway! He has a ton of CDs, and tells Marizza he brought some more music for her. Oh man, this is totally how he’s going to get busted, isn’t it? Anyway, he’s brought her Lenny Kravitz and Eminem. That’s the music of romance, definitely. Marizza is all twitterpated that he’s here, and they make out. Then Simon comes out of nowhere and creepily takes a photo of them.
Simon heads back to the gym to take photos of Feli, and she stresses about her weight to him. She tells him boys don’t like fat girls, and he says he cares about personality, not weight. And yet, he’s still chasing after skinny Marizza, so there goes his point.
Vico calls Mama Guido to try and tell her that Guido cares and all that jazz, but Mama Guido hangs up on her.
Mia goes to lunch with Mercedes and Papa C. She’s cranky and pissy with Mercedes, as expected. Sonia calls her, and Mia pretends it’s Manuel. Mercedes is suspicious and follows Mia into the bathroom, where Mia’s dropped the act and is yelling at Sonia for letting Marizza choose the music. Mercedes is all smug. She goes to Papa C and cries that Mia blames her for not having a quince, but she has a brilliant idea. When Mia comes back, they tell her: instead of having a quince party, the three of them will go to New York for Mia’s birthday.
In the lounge, Marizza and Pablo are still going over music choices. Marizza likes Coldplay, if any of you were interested. She can bond with David Tennant! Anyway, Marizza doesn’t want to dance at her quince, since her father’s not in the picture, but Pablo says she can dance with him. Aw! He shows her to waltz for like half a minute, then Simon shows up and tries to cockblock them. Marizza’s like, “You can show your photos to my mom, bye,” and shoves him away. She asks Pablo if he was about to do something, and he dips her backward and kisses her. THEY’RE SO CUTE.
Nico beats Manuel in an arm-wrestling match. Manuel says he has to learn to how to arm-wrestle, as that’s the pastime of all violent criminals. Nico says Manuel must learn proper technique: “Have you ever seen…Karate Kid?” HEE.
Vico goes to Casa Guido under the pretense of doing a survey for cable TV. Wait, is Guido supposed to be poor? Look at that frickin’ house!
Well, shit, sign me up to be poor on this show too.
She asks Vico’s mom what kind of shows her son likes to watch, and Mama Guido is all, “How do you know I have a son?” Vico’s cover is blown, but she soldiers on and tells Mama Guido that her son feels really bad, and he’s not malicious, he’s just a dumbass. Mama Guido says that Guido can’t be that much of a fuckup if he somehow got a girl as nice as Vico. Aw 🙁 Vico asks that her visit be kept a secret. Man, Guido doesn’t deserve her.
Feli calls Mia and squeals that she thinks Simon likes her. Aw, man. I bet he doesn’t.
Guido runs around the school looking for Vico. Belen is the tertiary character graced with lines this time, and she tells him that Vico went out — alone, but who knows what’ll happen while she’s out? Vico’s real friendly, you know. Guido’s all insecure, and when Tomás rolls up saying Pablo stood up his cousin and her friends, Guido says he’ll go out with them. And by “out”, he means they should hang out in the school together, since it’s the weekend and nobody’s here. Except like…the entire rest of the cast, but whatever. Certainly there’s no way Vico will come back and catch him!
Nico is still Mr. Miyagi-ing Manuel though the art of the arm wrestle. I think this is their entire plot for this episode.
Pablo and Marizza are still going through the CDs. She finds a rare Pescado Rabioso album in his collection and flips out, so he gives it to her. SO CUTE, AND YET SO FLEETING 🙁 Then Sonia shows up, and Pablo hides. Sonia’s all like, “So I heard you’re dating Pablo, and I guess that’s fine, even though you think he’s stupid and ugly and rude and controlling and spoiled and has bad breath.” Under the pool table, Pablo’s like, “The fuck?” Heh. Marizza bleats that Pablo disgusts her, and Sonia pulls out the picture of them kissing that Simon took: “This doesn’t look like disgust to me.” Pablo tries to escape, but Sonia catches him. She’s all pissed, but Marizza defends their love, and Pablo looks either smug or twitterpated. It’s hard to tell.
Guido shows Tomás’s cousin around the school, but she just wants to know where Pablo is. Denied, Guido! As expected, Vico walks in as Guido’s trying to put the mack on Tomás’s cousin. She’s not happy, but Guido snarks that she doesn’t have any room to talk, since she’s dated all the guys in school. Vico slaps him and walks out. It’s no Blas getting punched, but I’ll take it.
Simon comes to show Feli his photos, which he’s put in a nice album and everything. Feli notes that they’re all of Marizza and asks where the shots of her are. Simon pulls a bunch of loose photos out of his bag and is like, “Here, whatever.” He asks her to get a drink, and says he wants to know more about Marizza. Feli loves herself enough to shoot him down.
Manuel goes to the shady bar — sadly not playing any ragtime music today — and asks if he can set up an arm-wrestling match with Blas. The guy at the bar is like, “Ask him yourself,” and Blas pops up behind Manuel. As he does.
Marizza drags Nico and Luna into the lounge to listen to her Pescado Rabioso CD. Tomás comes in and he’s like, “Oh hey, my CD!” Marizza says it’s Pablo’s, and Tomás is like, “Well, I gave it to him because of the bet, but it was mine.” Marizza’s like, “What bet?”, as you knew she would eventually. Goodbye, Pablo and Marizza being cute together 🙁 It was fun while it lasted.
