Previously on Rebelde Way: Feli and Mia got back together, as did Pablo and Tomás. Marizza decided to help Pablo out of his jam with Papa B because of…reasons. Nevertheless, Papa B decided to send Pablo away to military school. This is apparently a heinous move on his part, although I can’t blame him for wanting to send Pablo to a school that isn’t run by a bunch of teenagers.
Opening monologue: Sometimes we have to know when to say “no.” We should listen to ourselves and not do things just because people tell us to. Again, fair enough. These monologues have been surprisingly sensible lately!
In the last episode, Papa B and Mama B were at a restaurant when she told him she wasn’t going to let him send Pablo away. Pablo has apparently run away to the very same restaurant (Papa B and Mama B have already gone home), and also has Marizza with him for some reason. We’re literally ten seconds into the episode and I’ve already used the bad continuity tag. Sigh. They argue about whether or not his problems are real enough to run away from, and Pablo sees the police pull up outside. He grabs Marizza and kisses her. I love how the two of them always seem to think the solution to awkward situations is to just start making out with each other.
Back at school, Manuel lures Mia out of the cabinet and right into Papa C, who’s carrying flowers for Mia. I like how Manuel was yelling at him that it was an emergency and to come to school now, and Papa C still stopped to pick up a nice bouquet. Papa C’s like, “Were you just hanging out in that cabinet alone? Oh, we cool then.” Manuel’s like, “No! We are not cool! Bust her for having a boyfriend already!” Mia glares at Manuel and says she wants to talk to Papa C alone. Manuel waits in the hallway until Joaquin thinks it’s safe to come out, and then he drags him off to this room so they can have a man-to-man talk about Mia’s life decisions. Manuel?
He tells Joaquin that Papa C is in the mafia, and he will be mighty displeased if Joaquin makes off with Mia’s virginity. He’s not saying Papa C is DEFINITELY going to kill Joaquin, but it’s a distinct possibility, you feel? Joaquin must choose: does he care more about his dick, or his LIFE?
Marizza takes Pablo to the sad trailer. Didn’t I just say…? Never mind. Pablo thanks her for letting him stay in the trailer (it’s not like she owns it, Pablo), and also for saving his ass earlier with Papa B. He asks why she helped him. She mumblegrumbles that she figured out that he didn’t sell Nacho out and so now they’re even BUT IT’S NOT LIKE SHE LIKES HIM OR ANYTHING, SO THERE.
Manuel cackles to Nico that Joaquin fell for his stupid mafia story. Nico’s like, “Uh, this story kind of makes it sound like you like Mia,” and Manuel totally flips out that HE TOTALLY DOESN’T! SHE DOESN’T INTEREST HIM AT ALL! AND LET HIM TELL YOU A THING, THERE ARE REASONS HE MIGHT WANT TO SCARE AWAY HER POTENTIAL BOYFRIENDS! LEGITIMATE REASONS! Nico starts snoring loudly to get Manuel to shut up. Hee!
Sonia is sneaking around the school, trying to find Marizza’s room, and overhears Mia and Vico talking. Mia is telling Vico that she doesn’t think she’s ready to have sex with Joaquin — or anyone — and Vico’s like, “Why not? You’re almost fifteen! That’s totally mature enough!” Wait, what? Mia’s fourteen years old? This entire show just got way more disturbing. Vico’s like, “You have to have sex with him or he’ll break up with you!” Worst advice ever. I think it’s genuinely sad, too, that this is Vico’s outlook on the whole thing. She asks Mia if she wants Joaquin to start going out with Marizza, and Sonia is all shocked and appalled. When Vico leaves, she swoops in to give Mia some actually decent advice about guys — like, if you’re considering having sex with a dude just so he won’t leave you for another girl, you probably shouldn’t do it. Mia needles her a bit at first for being Marizza’s mom, but warms up to Sonia’s motherly advice and asks her to stick around. Aw!
Speaking of whom, Marizza catches up with Joaquin and they fight over her lying to him about Sonia. As usual, Joaquin makes it all about him, and tells her that he just can’t bring himself to forgive her. They’re over! That was fast. You’d think Joaquin would be a little more committed to stringing her along, especially since he struck out with Mia, but whatever. He storms off into his room, and the not-ethics teacher busts Marizza in the boys’ dorms. Marizza sweatdrops. You know, these whole intense-zoom-in cliffhangers whenever Marizza gets caught doing anything are getting kind of funny, because we already know by now that Marizza’s going to talk her way out of it. And she does. Sonia shows up too and the not-ethics teacher is like, “Ah yes, wouldn’t want to argue with your cleavage” and runs away without punishing Marizza.
The Society meets again, and their leader announces they have a new member in the sophomore class. Dramatic music plays as a MYSTERIOUS DUDE enters. They cut his thumb, because the Society is apparently the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.
Marizza’s room. Sonia flips out about her supposed pregnancy, while Lujan and Luna watch awkwardly.
Sonia asks her if the father is Marcos or Joaquin, and Marizza’s like, “OBVIOUSLY Joaquin”, and flounces off to the bathroom with Lujan. Luna comes over and assures Sonia that Marizza’s not pregnant (I think she shows Sonia a half-empty pack of pads to prove it). She asks if she can tell Sonia something about Joaquin — “I don’t know much about guys, so I don’t know…” “Pfft, there’s nothing to know, they’re all the same,” Sonia snarks. Heh. Luna whispers that she thinks Joaquin is pushing Marizza into sex. Sonia’s all appalled, as if she…literally didn’t just talk to Mia about sleeping with him?
The not-ethics teacher calls Sonia and Pepa picks up. He hits on her thinking she’s Sonia, and Pepa’s all twitterpated, instead of being weirded out that some rando is calling her like this. Love yourself, Pepa.
Someone knocks at the door of the sad trailer. For some reason, Pablo thinks it’s Marizza, like she would ever knock on the door instead of just barging in. It’s Mansilla! Pablo starts flipping out that Marizza spilled the beans and Mansilla’s like, “Dude, everyone knows about this trailer.” Just kidding. He needles Pablo into opening up a little into Papa B’s abusive ways because as ever, Mansilla is the only adult in this school who gives a crap about the kids. I feel like going out to the abandoned trailer in the dead of the night to have a heart-to-heart is going above the call of duty here. They should really give Mansilla a raise.
The next day, all the girls are signing a petition to keep the boys out of the dance group. Feli asks if she can sign, and Mia cheerfully welcomes her to the group. Aw! Marizza rolls up and is naturally against the whole thing once she hears it’s Mia’s idea. It would be more fun to have the boys around! “You don’t get it, they only want in because they have a thing for the teacher!” Mia snaps. “SO?” asks Marizza. You know, I gotta admit, I’m on Mia’s side here, and not just because I love her more than I should. It’s literally been proven that girls do better away from boys, not to mention they have every right to feel uncomfortable with the boys horning in on their group just to perv on the teacher. But whatever.
Then the boys come in and do a dance routine to “Pop“, and it’s so hilarious that I can’t hold it against them.

I really wanna know who came up with this. Like, these guys all hate each other. Whose idea was it to bond by coming up with a boy band dance routine?
Sonia shows up at the office to see Gloria. I’m not going to lie, I dig her coat:
I mean, I don’t know where I’d wear a coat like that, besides EVERYWHERE.
She tries to get Mansilla’s number out of Gloria, and Gloria’s all bitter at the mention of Mansilla, as usual. Probably because he’s undermining her mission of destroying this school from the inside out. Anyway, Sonia tells Mansilla that she sorted everything out, Marizza’s not pregnant, she just made up all that stuff about banging two different guys, she’s still a virgin, what a relief! Mansilla’s like, “Yeah…I didn’t need to know all those details…” She asks if Mansilla’s teaching the kids sex ed, and he tells her that Dunoff is against it. Sonia’s like, “Whatevs, all I have to do is show him half a centimeter of cleavage and he does whatever I want.”
Mama B shows up looking for Pablo, and the not-ethics teacher is like, “Ha ha, he could be anywhere! We didn’t lose your child at all! He could be in the lab, or the library!” What library? The not-ethics teacher promises to find him and runs off, and Marizza takes the opportunity to make a deal with Mama B: she’ll show her where Pablo is if Mama B doesn’t take him away. Again: I get Marizza keeping his secret, but I don’t know why she’s so committed to Pablo Motion. Anyway, they shake on it, and it’s mildly cute.
Mama B shows up to the sad trailer and tells Pablo she didn’t sign the form to send him away. They cry over how much they love each other and hug. Aw! She tells him that Papa B was so pissed that he left the house and is spending the night elsewhere now. Ominous!
Dunoff comes out into the main office, and Mansilla and Sonia tell him that they want to start a Mother’s Day program where moms can come to the school and participate in activities with the kids. Dunoff is not pleased, although it’s been proven over and over again that these kids are in desperate need of some parental involvement. Dunoff shoots it down until Sonia rubs up against him, as usual.
Joaquin breaks up with Mia. She wails that a boy has never broken up with her and he’s like, “Welp, there’s a first time for everything. CHAO.” Mia is not pleased. In the cafeteria, she tells Vico and Feli that she’s on a mission to figure out why he broke up with her. Vico’s like, “You didn’t let him sex you up, duh.” Mia decides to go boost her self-esteem by fucking with Guido, as usual. She strokes his ego until he agrees to investigate why Joaquin dumped her.
Marizza yells at Sonia for daring to try to be involved in her life (again, some more). Sonia runs off to tell Mansilla that she’s backing out of the Mother’s Day idea, since Marizza doesn’t want her to do it. Mansilla’s like, “You know, you don’t have to bend to the will of a 15-year-old every time she gets mad at you. That’s kind of like, part of being the parent to a teenager.” I really love how Mansilla has to fix everyone’s problems for them, including the adults’.
Gym class-slash-dance club. I don’t know what’s going on here anymore. Joaquin apologizes to Marizza for ditching her over the whole Sonia thing. She takes him back, because she don’t love herself. And with that sorted out, let’s have another dance routine to “Bonita de mas”! God knows we haven’t heard that song enough already! All the kids start dancing, except Joaquin, who hovers off to the side and looks confused.
I feel that, Joaquin.
Eventually he’s like, “These random dance routines are getting too weird for me,” and peaces out of class. Guido takes the opportunity to run out after him. He’s like, “So…I heard you broke up with Mia because you’re gay.” (Actually, I can’t make out the word he says. I’m assuming from context that that’s what he said, but I’m not entirely sure.) Joaquin’s like, “How very dare you! I broke up with her because her mafioso dad was gonna set me up with a pair of cement boots.” Guido freaks out, but Joaquin’s like, “Whatevs, I have other girls on the line.” Guido’s like, “Tell me more!” Like, does she have a car?
Back in dance club/class, the boys all salivate after Lulu as she leaves the room. Marizza mocks Mia for not being pleased with the boys joining, and Lujan goes along with her. Oh, man. I love Lujan, but she’s such a sheep. Cordelia Chase would be ashamed. Guido comes back and tells Mia that whatever made Joaquin break up with Mia, Manuel told it to him. Dun dun dun!
Sandra comes to see Luna, and Luna immediately freaks out that something’s happened to Flor. Cliffhanger! Or it would be if I cared about Flor, which I kind of don’t.
