Rebelde Way 1×005: Ain’t No Party Like a Destroying-Your-Own-Mother Party

Wow, I am slow. Previously on Rebelde Way! Pablo got stabbed in the ghetto! Manuel saved him sexually. Pilar spied on all of her classmates and then wrote a bitchy ~secret newspaper~ about them, because girl needs a hobby. Manuel pinned Mia to the ground and threatened her, and then everyone forgot about it because this show has a ridiculously short attention span. Marizza is in a love triangle with her own mother, which is awkward as fuck. Mia is plotting to make Luna one of the ~popular girls~. Nico is a boy detective. All the kids had to pair up for a party and none of them made decent fashion choices for it.

Also, as of May 27, 2012 (the date I was originally going to post this, if I had finished it by then), Rebelde Way is 10 years old! The best part of this anniversary celebration was the #10añosderebeldia hashtag on Twitter, which enabled us to see which of the actors are/aren’t tweeting each other. (The actor who played Tomás, for example, only @-ed like, three other cast members and Luisana Lopilato didn’t @ anyone. DRAMA.) Anyway. Where were we?

Opening narration: parents just don’t ~understand. You tell ’em, DJ Jazzy Jeff! Wait, what?

Pablo is having an incident with a car. Again. His sassy-but-douchey father steps out of the ~shadows~ and Pablo’s like, “Oh, shit.” Papa B immediately starts in on him for being an idiot and blah blah verbal abuse blah. Pablo’s like, “But this is important,” except for the part where it’s TOTALLY NOT. Papa B calls him out on that too and finally Pablo’s just like, “WHATEVER. How did you even know we were here? I told the teacher not to say anything!” which — wait, they told Mauro and he didn’t do anything? Fucking Mauro. Papa B says that some anon tipped him off and that he’s going to “take care” of Mauro. You know, I don’t like Papa B, but if he were to make Mauro sleep with the fishes, I’d be down with that. Then Papa B says that they’re going to the police station to take care of the guys from the ghetto! (who you will recall Pablo was sneaking out to beat up). Wait, I’m confused. How does Papa B know about them? On second thought, I don’t care. Anyway, they go off to report the guys from the ghetto! and drag Tomás and his tie-dye sweatshirt with them. I bet Tomás really wishes he had stayed at that dance. (And wasn’t he there with Mia, anyway? I mean, I’m not saying she’s flawless or anything — as much as I love her — but considering she’s supposed to be the most popular and attractive girl in the 10th grade, you’d think Tomás would want to milk his date with her.)

Back at the dance, the early-2000s Europop is still going. Guido is waving his arms around like a windmill and Lujan is trying not to punch him with her fists of fury. Or something. Mia and Vico are dancing when all of a sudden Pilar rolls up and starts dancing with them, glaring the entire way. And then after a few seconds she goes away. That…was really weird. And kind of sexual. Also, Manuel is dancing with Feli, but then he looks slightly to his right and immediately locks eyes with Mia. They stare at each other ~longingly~, because apparently hormones overrule the fact that he nearly assaulted her and that her father drove his to suicide. Young love!

(Also wow, none of these kids can dance. I mean, neither can I, but that’s why I don’t let people film me doing so.)

Oh, and Luna tries to get Marcos to dance, only he freaks out because a giiiirl touched him and falls backwards into the patio chairs. Love him.

Marizza is lighting candles. “What are you doing with those sticks?” Mauro derps. Marizza tells him that they’re going to make wishes. “I’ll start! I wish this night would go on forever!” Uh, is Marizza supposed to be smooth? Because this is embarrassing. Mauro wishes that the woman he likes will like him in return. “Are you in love?” Marizza asks. “No, but I met an angel, and I can’t stop thinking about her.” Silly Marizza thinks that he’s talking about her. (She asks if she knows the woman in question and he says yes. Marizza beams but of course we all know that he’s talking about her mother.) Then Mauro asks her if she thinks it’s a bit weird that he accepted her invitation to the dance. “After all, I’m a teacher. I should be watching the kids.” Yeah, but it’s not like you ever watch them anyway, Mauro, so I don’t get why you’re suddenly thinking about that now. (Also? You are not a teacher. You’re a camp counselor, and I use that term loosely.) Then he says that he wants to ask her a ~question~ and Marizza’s all, “Yes? :D?” and he’s all, “Would it bother you if I asked your mom out?” HEE. So Marizza tells him that her mom’s tits are fake.

Oh, Marizza. Just give up. Also, I think she’s lying, but…well, actually, it’s not entirely implausible. Still.

Over in the ghetto! the angry brother and his friends(?) are being arrested for stealing and being douches. Or something. They yell that they’re innocent and one of the guys is all bad-cop, “What’s your proof?!” I can’t tell if they really are guilty or if Papa B is arresting them on trumped-up charges or whatever. I think it’s kind of weird that Papa B takes a “you fucked up, deal with it” approach with Pablo half the time and the other half he goes around arresting people who besmirch Pablo’s honor. The government dudes drag out the “I’ll put you in the cemetery!” guy and his little brother, but…not the other guys that beat Pablo up? Okay, whatever. Then Papa B asks Pablo if this is the dude in question, and Pablo says yes. Older Brother is arrested while Tiny Brother pathetically begs for mercy. It’s supposed to make me feel bad, but I hate kids, so it’s actually having the opposite effect on me tbh.

Back at the dance, Marizza is crushing every guy that asks her to dance under her heel. Sonia rolls up and snaps that they need to talk and Marizza’s all, “Bitch, no, talking with you is boring.” “THIS IS SERIOUS!” “Oh, well then we can talk about it at a funeral, okay?” Then Marizza flounces off and I wonder, for the umpteenth time, how I am supposed to have any sympathy for this girl. Then Mauro comes up and hits on her and Sonia’s like, “Not now, I am having an existential daughter crisis!” Then Mauro tells her that Marizza just wants attention and he has proof that she really loves Sonia. And Sonia’s like, “And what is this proof?” and he’s like, “Let’s go somewhere quieter and I’ll show you.” Oh, Sonia, honey, no. I’m pretty sure that when he says “proof,” he’s talking about his dick. Don’t do it! So they go off together and Marizza clings to some guy in a desperate attempt to make them notice her. It doesn’t work. Do I have any more Anya gifs?

Over on some grassy knoll or whatever, Guido is regaling Manuel and Nico with tales of his parachuting adventures (I guess they all ditched their dates?). “I’m such a genius!” Oh, Guido. Manuel snarks that it’s no wonder that the “brats” want him in their group. (I feel like Manuel would be using a stronger word than “brats”, but whatever.) Guido is all aflutter at the idea that Pablo wants him to join the OT3 of devoted Greek love. Manuel gets Guido to switch into Pablo and Tomás’s room in exchange for paying him 30 pesos a month. (I should clarify: Guido pays Manuel, which is rather well maneuvered, I must admit.) Guido mumbles a bit about how it’s not that he doesn’t like Manuel and Nico, it’s just, you know, like, meeting other people, and stuff, you know, making other friends, like, you know. Manuel’s like, “It’s okay. I mean, it’s a little sad, losing a friend like you and all…” Heh. Manuel, stop making me like you. “Don’t be sad!” dorks Guido. “I know it’s hard to lose me, your leader, your number one, but don’t worry, we’ll still be friends!” Oh, Guido.

(Also, Guido claims that he’s “new.” I can’t tell if that’s true or not. This show and its continuity, I can’t even.)

Some path. Mauro smoothes on Sonia by…telling her how awesome Marizza is? Sure, whatever. Sonia’s like, “That’s nice and all, but shouldn’t we be getting back to the party?” Mauro’s like, “No, wait, there’s more!” Man, he doesn’t know when to give up either. He and Marizza deserve each other. AND THEN. He asks Sonia out and she shoots him down and he’s like, “Marizza said it was okay! And I don’t even care about your boob job!” and Sonia’s like, “QUÉ?” Hilariously, Mauro reassures her: “It’s okay! I didn’t even know at first, they look totally real!” HEE!

Mia and Vico storm off to the bathroom. “I am FED UP!” shrieks Vico. Oh Lord, and her crazy is coming out again. Mia bitches about Pilar creepin’ on them while they were dancing. Then Feli comes in and Mia’s all, “Vico! Tell Feli about Pilar’s weird homoerotic dance with us!” And then a scare chord goes off and we see a shadow lurking outside the bathroom! (It’s totally Pilar.) I think Feli says something here about how it’s ~totes obvious~ that Pilar wants to be in their group? (Outside, Pilar’s shadow is like, “Are you fucking kidding me?” and stomps off. Heh.) Anyway, Feli asks them to help her with Manuel. “WHAT DID HE DO?” Mia snaps. Hee! Feli whines about…kissing? Idk, her voice got really weird here and I couldn’t understand it. Something about not knowing how to kiss? Or Manuel not wanting to kiss her? Idk. Vico waltzes over and tries to give her advice and Mia’s like, “Bitch, please, she’s not asking how to sleep with half the school.” (Okay, not really.) Mia tells Feli that the reason Manuel hasn’t tried to kiss her is probably because he doesn’t like her tbh! Way harsh, Mia. Feli’s like, “No, he really likes me! He’s interested in my life! He even asks about you two!” and Vico and Mia are like, “EXCUSE ME?” Vico, hilariously, is like, “Well, we are the most popular girls in school…” Oh, Vico. Mia actually picks up on how weird that is and Feli’s like, “Can we get back on track? I AM DYING OF LOVE HERE!” like damn girl, chill out. Vico snaps that Feli needs to be like her because she knows how to ~entrance~ the boys, you know, with her cleavage and crazy eyes. Mia’s like, “CAN WE ALL JUST CHILL, DAMN.” Then she says that maybe Feli’s right, and Manuel really does like her. Oh, dear. This can’t end well.

Back at the party, Marizza and Lujan are dancing together. Er…

Yeah.

Anyway, with Mia in the bathroom, Marizza gets to be the center of attention and shows off her dancing ~skillz. She’s actually not a bad dancer — she’s more flexible than I am, to be sure, so I can’t really mock her — but…you know. Also, jailbait. In the background, Marcos grins like Gollum and claps his hands. Lord, I know Marcos is meant to be awkward, but he could at least not look like something out of Freaks (one of us! one of us!). The scene goes on for another three minutes and okay, at this point Camila Bordonaba is just showing off. (Also, she goes up and does a move on Marcos, who looks like he’s about to pass out. A giiiirl sexy-danced with him!) Then Sonia rolls up and is like, “YOU. ME. NOW.” and Marizza’s like, “Excuse you, I am dancing,” and then Sonia flips a bitch and is like, “DO YOU WANT ME TO DRAG YOU OUT ON YOUR ASS?” Oh my God, is someone finally going to discipline Marizza? I have been waiting for this day. (Since…five episodes ago. OKAY, WHATEVER.)

Anyway, on some other part of the set, Sonia and Marizza hash their issues out. Sonia is mad that Marizza told Mauro she had a boob job; Marizza is mad that her mother exists. She snaps that she hates Sonia’s clothes and attention-whoring ways (Marizza bb, I think that’s an inherited trait) and P.S. you’re a total slut* to which Sonia slaps her. YESSSS, SOMEONE FINALLY DID IT. Then Sonia runs away and Marizza’s all, “I’m not going to cry, mother,” in an incredibly creepy voice. Wait, is this the part where Marizza goes insane and kills the rest of her classmates? I did say I wanted a bloodbath, after all.

(* I think what she says here is “pinta de gato” which I couldn’t find a translation for, but judging from Google, it looks like a negative term that would roughly mean slut/slutty.)

Mauro has a brief flash of responsibility and tries to shut the party down, but Mia, Vico, and Feli convince him to let them perform a song that was apparently written by Mia and composed by — “Well, that doesn’t matter! It’s anonymous!” (I think they said earlier that Pablo composed it? Idk.) And then Vico sings “Inmortal” (the Erreway song, not the one by La Oreja de Van Gogh) while Mia dances. If I worked at that school, I’d never let Mia Colucci perform on a stage again for fear of what she’d do, but whatever. Also, it’s probably worth pointing out that Victoria Maurette (Vico) is pretty much the only cast member that can actually sing.

Tomás, Pablo, and Papa B return to the beach. Papa B immediately flips out all, “Is that your music I’m hearing?” Uh, I have no idea how he drew that conclusion from a girl singing it, but whatever. Tomás and Pablo awkwardly try to cover it up and Papa B’s like, “Oh, don’t even try to lie to me, I know that’s your music!!! Por desgracia!!!” And then he storms on in all, “Who is responsible for this?!” and Mauro’s like, “It is I who is responsible!” I really hope Papa B kicks his ass. Except he doesn’t, and just sort of yells at him about how Pablo was attacked with knives and by the way, do you even know where the kids are half the time? (Answer: no.) And Mauro’s like, “Oh, I’m ~so sorry~” and wow, these two are working hard to out-sass each other. Papa B threatens that Mauro will never work again while Mauro angstily strides away. Lol whatever, it’s not like Mauro was any good at his job anyway.

Back at the hotel, Mia, Feli, and Vico show an alarming lack of empathy as they giggle over what happened to Pablo. I’m not sure why they’re so happy — maybe now he’s not allowed to leave Vico’s sight? I didn’t really get it. Anyway, Mia opens her door and sees…Papa Colucci! Wow, I hope Manuel doesn’t find out about this. Papa C whips out the fax (you know, the one that caused the least enthusiastic “Ay Dios mio” of our times) which I think Mia sent? But Vico takes the blame for it? Idk. She says she sent it because she was worried about Mia. Again: not sure if she’s lying or if the show just fucked up its continuity. Vico and Feli clear out and Mia pouts to her dad that she was lonely and he doesn’t care about her. Papa C is like, “Lies! I care about you mucho!” and Mia’s like, “You’re never there for me! You canceled our only vacation together! My mother is dead! I suffer!” Sad music plays and Papa C hugs her. Somewhere, Manuel rubbing his hands together in glee.

Pablo and Tomas are complaining about their lives. Or something. I’m not sure, I was trying to play the Sims and watch this episode at the same time. Anyway, Guido rolls in and is like, “WHAT UP MY NEW ROOMIES!” and Pablo and Tomas are like, “Say what?” But don’t worry, Guido comes bearing gifts! Gifts of booze. Predictably, Pablo and Tomas are all over this. Marcos who?

(Tomas says that he’s relieved they won’t have to be with Marcos, “the idiot.” Secretly, though, Tomas is sad that he’s lost his geek BFF. And the final season of Buffy was just about to start! Who’s going to argue with him over whether Buffy belongs with Angel or Spike?)

Elsewhere, Mauro is pouting. How dare Papa B call him out on his lack of actually doing his job! “It was wonderful, what you did,” smoothes Sonia. Oh, Lord. Mauro’s like, “So does that mean you’ll let me hit it now?” and Sonia’s like, “Uh, no, I’m leaving,” and Mauro’s like, “SERIOUSLY?” like…why would she stick around? There is way too much drama on this one beach. If I were her, I would’ve hightailed it back to Buenos Aires the second I saw my daughter pretending to be dead in a closet. Mauro tells her one more time that he is totally into her, and Sonia’s like, “That’s nice, but you’re too young for me.” Hee! Then she confesses to him that she thinks Marizza hates her. Jesus, why does everyone go to Mauro with their problems? He’s useless! I would go to Mr. Collins of Sweet Valley High fame before I ever tried to talk to Mauro. And that’s saying something. Mauro tells Sonia that he doesn’t hate her and Sonia’s like, “I wish I could believe you.” Dude, Sonia, he’s only spent the past three episodes hitting on you. Come on. Anyway: Sonia’s leaving and none of Mauro’s angsty stares can stop her. Whatever.

Meanwhile, Manuel the Dark Avenger and Nico the Boy Detective join forces with Marcos the Stoor Hobbit*. Marcos balks at living with them (and this will be important later) and Nico’s like, “Come on! We are way less douchey than your old roommates!” Seeing that Marcos is still not convinced, Manuel stoops to some good old fashioned bribery: he takes out Guido’s money and passes it around. “This is for you, and this is for you…” Marcos is like, “Why are you giving me money?” and Manuel’s like, “So you’ll move in with us, duh.” I love how comfortable Manuel is with all this blackmail and bribery. He and Papa B would probably get along great. Marcos gives the money back and hilariously says, “I don’t need it and you guys do.” HEE! ILU Marcos. Even though you look like you used to possess the One Ring. Manuel goes off to get soda or something from the kitchen and Nico sort of awkwardly claps Marcos on the shoulder like, “So…I’m kind of afraid to catch your crazy…but…yeah.” Heh. I don’t really like Nico, but sometimes he cracks me up.

(* I actually looked up Gollum on Wikipedia to see what kind of creature he was. I am way too invested in this.)

Papa Colucci leaves, telling Mia not to think about her mother anymore. I know, right? It’s crazy how hung up Mia is on her dead parent! Bad form, Papa C. Mia asks if they can go on vacation now that he’s not mad at her anymore, and he’s like, “No, I’m kind of busy. Here, have some money.” Mia’s like 🙁. Aw! Then he tells her that he’s going to spend more time at the house he has next to the school. Mia thanks him, which strikes me as kind of sad — he’s around so little that she’s grateful just for that.

Sonia is on the phone with…someone. Something about the car not being able to come for half an hour? I don’t know. And you know, I don’t really care, either. Sonia snaps that there are people waiting for her! Producers! Directors! Journalists! Whatever, Sonia, they’ve been waiting ever since you showed up at the beach. Another half hour won’t kill them.

AND THEN. Manuel returns from the kitchen and crashes into…Papa Colucci! Dun dun dun! Perhaps there will be a bloody knife fight right on the porch. That would make this episode a lot more interesting. They’re all, “It was my fault! No, mine! I’m sorry! No, I am! Don’t be, it was my fault!” for like, five minutes. Papa C asks him what grade he’s in, and Manuel tells him 10th, and Papa C is like, “Oh, you must know my daughter.” “Probably, who is she?” “Mia. Mia Colucci.”

~*~SCARE CHORD~*~

(But actually, why doesn’t Manuel know what Papa Colucci looks like? Surely, in all of his ~research~, he would’ve come across a picture somewhere. Google Images existed in the year 2002!)

Manuel’s like, “FRANCO COLUCCI!” and Papa C is like, “Why do you know my name?” and Manuel’s like, “Because…you’re so famous! You’re such a good businessman! I admire you greatly!” Papa C is like, “Well, it’s my sisters who do most of the work,” and Manuel’s like, “Yeah, Carmen and Marcela.” Manuel is terrible at this undercover thing. Papa C is like, “Why do you know so much about my family?” and Manuel’s like, “Because I’m a huge fan! I want to be just like you!” They talk for a bit and Manuel lets it slip that he’s from Mexico and Papa C is like, “What are you doing all the way down here? And what’s your name, anyway?” Manuel’s all, “My name is Manuel Aguirre. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” Except not the last two sentences. Papa C is like, “Aguirre. I know that name.” Manuel makes up some bullshit about how there are a lot of Aguirres in Mexico. I feel like, when the truth eventually comes to light, Papa C is going to look back and be like, “Dude, you could’ve just told me then. Now you just look silly.” Papa C is like, “Well…this has been nice and all. Your parents are lucky to have such a nice kid.” And stupid fucking Manuel, who doesn’t know when to shut his trap, is like, “Actually, my dad is DEAD. And the rest of my family lives in Mexico. You know. Where I’m from. And where my dead father is from. IF YOU GET MY DRIFT.” Papa C feels bad for him and gives Manuel his card. “If you need anything, give me a call.” Dun do it, Papa C! He crazy!

Outside, Mia and Vico are creeping around in their pajamas. Wait, what? Why? Oh, Mia’s looking for aloe vera. That makes sense. Oh, wait, no it doesn’t. Just buy some, Mia. Vico’s spacing out and Mia’s like, “Hello, I am TALKING” like the Queen Wench she is. Vico’s like, “Sorry, I’m just so worried about Pablo.” Oh my God, give it up, Vico. He duncurr about you! Mia’s like, “I can’t believe you care more about Pablo than me!!!” and Vico’s like, “Because you’re ANNOYING!” and then stomps off to go to sleep. For serious, though, I can’t believe Mia is out this late looking for aloe vera leaves.

And then she hears the strumming of a guitar, and then some singing and oh my God, Pablo is drunk off his ass. THIS IS AMAZING. Oh, and he’s without pants. Even better! He’s about to throw his guitar in the pool (didn’t his other one get thrown into the river? Pablo has no luck with instruments) when Mia runs up and is like, “Dude! Pablo! The hell are you doing?” Pablo’s like, “Who are you? No, wait, I know! You’re an angel!

Gtfo with that Anakin Skywalker bullshit, Pablo.

Anyway, Pilar comes creeping through the trees and Mia sees her and is like, “Dude! Pilar is spying on everyone!” So she grabs Pablo and starts macking on him while signaling to Pilar not to tell. Pilar grins and ~creeps~ away. So…Mia’s basically figured out that Pilar is writing the newspaper. She’s a better boy detective than Nico, to be sure.

Peter and Papa Colucci nearly run over Sonia, who’s…trying to hoof it back to the city? I don’t know. Papa C makes Peter turn around to go give her a ride. Sonia freaks out and thinks they’re trying to kidnap her and starts beating Papa Colucci with her purse. Oh, Sonia. Also: this means they’re going to hook up, doesn’t it? Sorry Mauro, but you’re no match for a meet cute! Anyway, Sonia calms down and introduces herself — “But of course, you probably already recognized me.” Papa C is like, “…sorry, no.” Bwah! And then she starts crying and clings to him while wailing, “MY DAUGHTER HATES ME!!!” Papa C is just like, “Oh…kay…then.”

Back at the hotel, Manuel is…SNEAKING INTO THE GIRLS’ ROOM, WHAT. Manuel. Manuel. WHY ARE YOU SO CREEPY? STOP THIS IMMEDIATELY. He starts going through the drawers looking for Mia’s ~agenda~ like, maybe she doesn’t have one, Manuel. And Mia catches him. Of course.  She asks him what he was trying to steal and Manuel’s like, “I was leaving a note for Feli,” which, even if that was the truth, is still fantastically creepy. Mia’s like, “There are other things in my head besides hair!” That line probably works better in Spanish, where “en” means both “in” and “on.” In English, it just sounds like she has hair inside her skull. Mia threatens to call the cops and Feli wakes up and tells Mia to back off. Way to defend the creeper, Feli. Mia snaps fine, whatever, but she wants Manuel to stay 2 meters away from her at all times! “Make it 10, because I can’t stand being around you!” Mmmm, sexual tension.

The next day, Mia visits Pablo, who apparently isn’t suffering from a hangover. It must be nice. Pablo thanks her for being there for him, and also for writing the lyrics to his music. Mia tells him that the music is pretty good, too. Then she asks him why he’s a budding alcoholic. He has everything! He’s rich, he’s pretty, he’s good at music…Pablo mumbles that he just likes it. Mia points out that nothing’s fixed once he sobers up and besides, he still thinks about his dad even when he’s totally hammered. Mia is more perceptive than she’s given credit for both in- and out-of-universe. And then Mauro rolls in and is like, “The hell are you two doing?” Uh…talking? Seriously, it’s the morning, and they’re sitting there drinking coffee. What does Mauro think they’re doing? Perhaps he’s overcompensating after getting yelled at by Papa B and Sonia.

Lujan, Luna, and Marizza. Marizza pouts that she doesn’t want to see Mauro or her mom at breakfast. Lujan and Luna were like, “What did Mauro do? I thought you were all up on his dick.” (Except not that last part.) Marizza says, “Mauro didn’t do anything, it’s my horny mom who needs every guy to like her.” WHAT? Dude, Mauro was the one hitting on her the whole time. Idk, that was kind of a gross comment to me. Luna says that Sonia seems nice. “That’s because you live in Idiotland!” snaps Marizza like, way to be nice to your friends. Marizza correctly asks for flawless queen Lujan’s opinion, and Lujan is like, “Uh, you won’t like what I have to say, so I’m just gonna not say anything.” ILU Lujan. Then she tells Marizza that in the orphanage, she learned to how to read people just by looking into their eyes. Wow, that was some orphanage. Anne Shirley never learned to do that! Marizza’s like, “Fine, what do my eyes say?” and Lujan leans in reeaaally close (sexual tension?) and tells Marizza that she doesn’t like being contradicted, and she thinks it’s easier to blame Sonia than admit that Mauro actually liked her. Then she asks if Marizza knows her mom’s worth and Marizza’s like, “Yeah, like $2 million, is this a joke?” And Lujan’s like, no, you idiot, and points out that Sonia raised Marizza alone instead of, say, giving her to an orphanage, before stomping off.

learnsomethingfromthistbh

MARRY ME, LUJAN. Were I of age in the US, I would buy you a beer. Sadly, all I can offer you is pineapple juice. (Actually, I don’t even like beer. Vodka?)

Marizza doesn’t even take any of this to heart and is like, “What an idiot! She attacked herself!” What? Marizza is an awful person.

Anyway, Pablo and Mia bump into Marizza and Pablo snarks that she should take her ugly early-2000s glasses off, because she clearly can’t see (I hate myself for defending Marizza, but you bumped into her, Pablo). Then Mia insults Sonia (bad move, Mia!) and Marizza threatens to punch her and Pablo tells Marizza she doesn’t ~belong~ and Marizza snarks that at least her type of people are honest and blah blah class struggles blah, except Marizza is just as rich and elite as they are, so whatever.

At breakfast, Marizza snippily asks Mauro where ~the star~ is and Mauro’s like, “Let’s talk outside” and drags her out of the room. Uh, is there not some rule about manhandling the students? Meanwhile, all the other kids find…another newspaper! Vico is scandalized to find out that Mia and Pablo kissed! And then Pilar reads out loud the part where Feli asked Mia and Vico for help in ~seducing~ Manuel. Mia’s like, “Pilar, you were the only one who saw me and Pablo mackin’ it! ‘Twas YOU who wrote this!” and Pilar’s like, “But look! It says I was there making sure Vico didn’t find out!” And that proves what? For some reason, no one calls her out on this. Manuel comforts Feli and then says that he wants to thank whoever wrote the paper, because he lurves Feli too! Then they make out and everyone claps and Mia’s just like -___- Then Pablo notices that there’s something about his relationship with his father in the paper and says that he will destroy (hee!) whoever wrote it. Pilar is like, “I’m with you, Pablo! I can’t stand it either!” Heh.

Outside, Marizza is freaking out. Mauro’s like, “Relax! She’ll call when she gets back home!” Then he asks why Marizza’s so mean to her mom when she obviously cares about her so much and Marizza’s like, “Because she has no brains! She’ll get in trouble!” and Mauro, showing perhaps his second flash of insight, asks why Marizza pretends not to care about Sonia. Marizza grumbles that everyone is a philosopher today (heh) and then snaps that Sonia should’ve said goodbye to her. Mauro points out that Marizza was mad. AND THEN. He says that Sonia told him that Marizza had a thing for him. “Is it true?” And then the music kicks up in the background and OH MY GOD, MAURO, I THOUGHT YOU SAID MARIZZA WAS TOO YOUNG FOR YOU. But I guess that’s not a problem anymore, because they start making out.

And then Dunoff walks in. Oh my God, please tell me Mauro is finally going to get fired.
