Rebelde Way 2×112: Holy Shit Continuity Exists

Previously on Rebelde Way: Papa B knows about Erreway! Uh…again! Pablo freaks out that Papa B is going to set him up with a cement overcoat, but instead Papa B strolls around chatting about how nice the apartment looks and how he needs Pablo to help him politically more than ever, and he’s certainly not going to hit Pablo because why would he ever do that? Pablo’s like, “…sounds fake, but okay.”

Laura tells Lola that she thinks Lola should talk to their parents — if not to patch things up, then at least to figure out who Lola’s birth parents are. After all, if anyone would know that, it would be the Arreguis. Can we discuss how Laura’s last name is just an anagram of Manuel’s? Anyway, they’re here right now, waiting for her. Lola snaps at Laura that she doesn’t want to talk to them, and Laura’s like, “Okay, fine, live in ignorance about who your real family is, whatever.” She walks off and Lola sulks.

Papa B leaves and Consuelo comes back, now wearing a tank top and shorts for some reason. She tells Pablo that she was just trying to make some minimum wage in the city, and the next thing she knew Papa B had her spying on him. She pouts that Papa B used her, and Pablo’s like, “Well, we’ll just return the favor,” which I guess means that he wants to use Consuelo to spy on Papa B. Consuelo happily agrees and they make out because I guess it hasn’t occurred to her that she’s basically a pawn here. There’s another knock at the door, and they think Papa B’s come back, but it’s Martavio this time. I’m not sure that’s an improvement. He asks if Pablo knows where Marizza is, and Pablo’s all, “OMG, Marizza is missing?” He invites Martavio in and Martavio tells them the whole sordid story — how he forbade Marizza to go out with Javier, and then she did it anyway, which he never in any way anticipated. He frets that something might have happened to her, and Pablo’s like, “You’re right, Javier could have murdered her and dumped her body in a field somewhere.” He’s so worried that he calls Papa B.

Lujan’s leaving her room and the awkwardness of the Arregui family reunion when she runs into Marcos. He has plans to go to a rugby match with Laura, but as she’s busy with family drama, he sighs that he’ll go alone. Unless…Lujan wants to go with him? Lujan takes him up way too eagerly, although in fairness, she could just be exited about sports. Because she’s a tomboy, lest we forget one of her like two defining personality traits.

We get a wacky music montage of Sonia, Papa C, and Mia trolling around the city looking at houses. They find a house they like, and Mia assumes that she’s going to get the master bedroom, since LOL it’s not like Papa C needs a large room for him and his girlfriend. Papa C and Sonia are like, “Awkward.” Mia’s totally un-self-aware ranting is interrupted by a call from Francisco, who begs her to come save him from Andrea. She blows Papa C and Sonia off, and Papa C tries to get her to stay by saying that he’s going to finally introduce her to his girlfriend. “I know you’re going out with Sonia,” Mia says, then waltzes off. Papa C’s like, “How?” and I am also like, “How?” Then I remembered that Mia’s pretending to go along with what she thinks is their ruse, except she says it really rudely and in a way that made me think she was serious because this show doesn’t know how to read its own room.

In Marizza’s room, Laura berates her parents for being so shitty to her and Lola, but mostly Lola. Lola comes in and interrupts them, and tells her parents that she knows that she’s adopted. Everyone’s like, “Awkward.” Then we cut to…the Arreguis leaving, and Lola ranting that she’s sure they know who her real parents are, they just don’t want to tell her. Way to not show us that scene at all. Lola storms off, and Mama Arregui comes back to tell Laura that she totally does know who Lola’s real mom is, but she won’t say, because she’s hella trashy and she never wants Lola to meet her. Again, I like how they keep going on about Lola’s bio mom, like she doesn’t have a dad.

Sol lusts after Blas some more, and Fernanda’s like, “Well, you know, what with her knowing a lot about him, and the way he stalks and harasses her…do you think maybe he likes LUJAN?” HA! That’s so weird and creepy and yet bizarrely plausible. I love Fernanda’s deduction skills. Sol laughs it off, but Fernanda points out that every time he blows Sol off, he’s usually doing it so he can go yell at Lujan. Sol is perturbed.

Guido is in a good mood: he’s gotten rid of Augustina and her dad, and now he’s off to go have wild underage sex with Andrea. Gross. Joke’s on Guido, though, because Augustina and her dad are still here and happy to hang out with Guido. Guido BSes that he has to help Tomás study — Jesus, there’s no need to drag poor dumb Tomás down even more than he already is — and manages to get them to go away and it’s all really unnecessary. Guido chirps that he’s going to call Andrea now. Why they didn’t just cut straight to this point is beyond me.

Meanwhile: Andrea is hitting on Francisco at the amusement park. HEE! I hate her, but I enjoy Guido’s suffering. Francisco is trying to extricate himself, asking if, you know, Andrea maybe wants to be with Guido instead? Andrea pouts that Guido was cheating on her with that other girl, and she doesn’t want to date him anymore. I mean…I guess I appreciate Andrea having SOME standards, even if she’s still totally fine with dating high school students. Mia shows up and introduces herself as Francisco’s best friend, and tags along on their date to cockblock Andrea. As they spend the day with her, Mia’s like, “Wow, she’s super annoying, why were you guys all after her?” “She’s not so annoying at night,” Francisco deadpans. Mia snarks that she’d love to be a guy and think just with her dick, and Francisco’s like, “Men have it hard too!” He whines that it’s hard when you hook up with a girl and then find out that she has a really annoying personality. And then you have to like, hang out with her! Whatever. Francisco’s life is so hard.

Martavio and Pablo pore over a map and decide to go out looking for Marizza. So they just…picked some random spot outside of Buenos Aires? It’s not clear. Anyway, Pablo wants to know why Martavio’s so gung-ho about finding her — like, it’s way more involved that Martavio usually is, and he’s already way too invested in these kids’ lives. Martavio’s like, “Uhhh…” but then he’s saved by the arrival of Papa B. Papa B’s all ready to spend a day with Pablo laundering money or racketeering or whatever it is he does in his free time. Pablo tells him that he and Martavio are going off to go an art museum for like…culture. And shit. Papa B is annoyed but he buys it.

Feli tells Vico that she’s seen a bunch of fifth year guys in the art room, and Vico zooms off to look for them for reasons that will be explained in a minute. First, though, we have to listen to more of Feli’s familial drama. Her mom calls about the party, and Feli bleats that she has to study, and even if she could go, she couldn’t find a nice dress, so there.

Guido can’t get through to Andrea, so he lies to Pilar that her dad’s not feeling well again to get her to go away because he is the worst. Then he bugs Tomás for Francisco’s number. Nobody cares.

Vico brings Rocco to the fifth years’ classroom and asks if he recognizes any of the guys as his attackers. She’s determined to prove that she doesn’t know anyone that would do that, and Rocco snarks that she must really like him if she cares so much about him believing her. Vico bleats that she totally DOESN’T like him like that, and Rocco’s like, “I bet you do!” and Vico admits that she doesn’t know how she feels. Nevertheless, she doesn’t like when he’s mad at her or that he thought she would do something like that to him. Rocco apologizes to her and it’s quite nice and reasonable of them both. Rocco’s willing to drop the subject, but Vico wants to find out who did it for great justice. Rocco says he doesn’t recognize any of the guys in the class as the ones who tried to beat him up.

Guido shows up at the park all mad that Francisco stole his girl, and Francisco’s like, “Dude, you can have her.” They almost fight but then Mia drags Francisco off. Aw, man. I feel like Francisco could’ve gotten a good punch in.

Rocco tries to convince Vico to drop it, since he wasn’t able to figure out which guys did it. Vico refuses and frets that this might mean the Society is back. Rocco is like, “The what?” and I am also like, “THE WHAT?” because holy shit, are they actually acknowledging something that happened last year? Is Vico the only person in this school who didn’t develop selective amnesia about the entirety of season 1? Quick, someone mention Mansilla or Luna. Vico recaps that whole plotline for Rocco and tells him how there was a secret society of students dedicated to purging Elite Way or some shit. Rocco’s like, “Well, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard and I am going to pretend we didn’t have this talk.”

Cut to: the NuSociety has somehow kidnapped Dani and are threatening him in some dark room somewhere. They want Rocco’s number, and Dani wails that he doesn’t know it. They threaten him some more and then start punching him. I don’t think giving him head trauma is going to help him remember, NuSociety! Remember when all they did was tie people up and make them stare at spiders? Good times.

In the cafeteria, Manuel whines that he has a headache. Sabrina’s sitting with him and she immediately suggests that dealing with the Coluccis is stressing him out. Sabrina tells him that he should get a different guardian. Or — and I’m just throwing this out there — go back to his life in another country where he has a living parent. Sabrina offers to have her dad be Manuel’s guardian — not weird at all! — but Manuel bleats that he still wants to, like, have access to the Coluccis house and creep on Mia whenever he feels like it. Then he dramatically clutches his head. Do you think Manuel’s headache is important?

Meanwhile, Feli’s mom has showed up looking for her. She’s all asking Lalo, “Have you seen my daughter? She’s kinda fat? Not as conventionally attractive as all the other actresses on this show?” Lalo’s like, “Uh, I don’t think she’s here, sorry.” Feli’s mom waltzes out, and Sabrina rocks up to ask for some water in a really dickish way because she’s one of those people who’s rude to service workers. Are you surprised? Sol walks in and sees her, and she’s like, “OMG, hi girl! Long time no see!” She wants to catch up and gossip, and Sabrina grimaces because she is just now realizing that her entire social circle consists of high schoolers.

Over on some road, Martavio and Pablo pull over because Martavio’s broken the car or some shit. I don’t know. Pablo wants to just call a mechanic, and Martavio’s like, “No, we’ll fix the car like real men!” He acts all shocked that Papa B has never taught Pablo to fix a car, like anyone who’s ever spent five minutes with Papa B couldn’t figure out that the dude’s never done manual labor in his life. Martavio speechifies that fixing cars is just what fathers DO with their sons, and Pablo’s like, “Wow, you have a lot of opinions on parenting for someone who doesn’t have a kid.” Or, alternatively, someone who’s only known about his kid for like two months. Martavio confesses that he does, in fact, have a child. After some beating around the bush, he tells Pablo that he’s Marizza’s father. Goddamn, I thought he would never get around to it! Pablo’s like, “That’s hilarious,” before realizing that Martavio is being serious. Heh. Martavio keeps going and spills the WHOLE damn story to him about impersonating a teacher and changing his name and everything. He makes Pablo promise not to tell anyone. Pablo takes this surprisingly well and is like, “For sure, this whole story hasn’t weirded me out at all.”

Lalo finds Feli and tells her that her mom was here looking for her. He tries to bond with her but Feli’s like, “Go away, minimum wage laborer.”

Rocco sings Vico his new song and they’re all twitterpated over each other. Then Rocco gets a call from Dani, asking him to meet. Rocco says that Dani sounds strange and goes off to meet him. Vico frets that something might happen along the way and asks to go with Rocco. Rocco’s like, “Pfft, everything will be fine! Nothing will happen! This definitely isn’t a trap! Bye!” Do you hear that? That’s the sound of Rocco getting beaten up in a warehouse somewhere.

Sol and Sabrina gossip together in Mia’s room. Sol tells Sabrina that she’s super in love with a guy, and she wants Sabrina to pass a note to Manuel to pass to Lujan asking if she has a crush on Blas. Sabrina’s like, “That’s it? You don’t need me to help you fake a pregnancy or anything?” She agrees to do it.

Marcos and Lujan come in from their rugby match/watching/thing/whatever they were doing, I don’t care that much. They’re arguing over the players, but in a friendly way, and Marcos is all twitterpated. He says hanging out reminded him of when they used to date, and how much fun they used to have. Does Lujan also remember that? Lujan’s like, “Not really,” and runs off to look for Laura. Dammit, I hate that I ship Marcos and Lujan so much 🙁 He’s such a trash bag, and yet! I want them to get back together so badly!

Francisco, Mia, Guido, and Andrea are somehow all still hanging out together. At least two of them don’t need to be there. Guido and Andrea are arguing about how he still has a girlfriend, and Mia and Francisco get into a debate about whether or not Andrea will dump him after this. Francisco thinks no; Mia thinks that even Andrea has to love herself a little more than that. Neither of them consider the fact that this is a telenovela and Andrea is merely a prop here to stroke Guido’s ego (and penis). Francisco emos over his lack of relationship a little more, because he’s just too gosh darn shy to say hello. But not to buy sex or break into girls’ rooms in Bariloche? Shut up, Francisco. Anyway, just then some hot girl walks in, as they are wont to do on this show, and Mia encourages Francisco to go talk to her. Mia wingmans and pretends that Francisco knows the girl (“Erica”) from a nightclub to get them to start talking. Don’t do Erica any favors, Mia.

Lujan goes to confess to Laura that she and Marcos went out together, but Laura’s like, “It’s fine, I don’t really give a shit about rugby anyway.” She tells Lujan about her family drama and asks for Lujan’s opinion: should Laura tell Lola that their mom knows who Lola’s birth mother is?

Rocco goes to find Dani. Dani’s all, “It’s a trap!” but it’s too late. The homophobic guys come in and start beating Rocco up.

Feli is hiding out being emo in the cupboard under the stairs. Lalo finds her and offers her some food. Feli’s all tsundere about it, but she warms up when Lalo tells her that her mom brought some lady to school about Feli’s dress. Feli sighs that her mom called in a stylist because she’s way over the top. Lalo says that he told her mom that she wasn’t here, and Feli flips out on him: she told her mom that she was studying at school; Lalo said that she wasn’t here, so now her whole story’s blown. Lalo’s like, “I mean, you’re here hiding instead of studying, so it’s kind of like you’ve gone out. Chill out.” Feli’s like, “I AM VERY CHILL!!!” She snaps at him that she’s a rich student here and he’s just the cafeteria boy, so he should leave her alone.

In the lounge, Lola’s lying around listening to “Dirrty” by Christina Aguilera. HEE! Laura sits down and tells her that their parents do, in fact, know who Lola’s mom is — they just didn’t want to tell her because her bio mom is garbage. Okay, you didn’t have to say it like THAT, Laura. Lola blows past all the language and is all hype to have a new lead on her mom.

Martavio and Pablo finally make it to Javier’s country house or wherever he is. He tells them that Marizza isn’t here; she just used to the trip as a jumping-off point to go somewhere else. And he knows where that is, but Marizza asked him not to tell. Pablo is all ready to strangle Javier, as we all are.

Over in the creepy warehouse, the homophobic guys have finished beating Rocco up, and now he’s unconscious. One of the guys is like, “Uh, do you think we might’ve killed him?” and the other guys are like, “Stop saying words.” Dani wails at them not to leave Rocco like that, and they drag him off with them to keep him quiet. And then Rocco wastes away in an abandoned warehouse until someone digs up the body 5 years later. JK, I’m sure Vico will manage to find the exact abandoned warehouse in like five minutes.

I googled and “Arregui” looks to be a real last name (just maybe not a very common one?) but LOL at them giving 2 characters basically the same last name without noticing.
