Previously on Rebelde Way: Marizza is back in Elite Way! I’m sure you were shocked that they didn’t actually enforce her expulsion. All the other punishments on this show are always permanent and have lasting consequences! Anyway, now Papa B is big mad that Marizza has escaped his machinations yet again. She’s like the Road Runner to his Wile E. Coyote.
Papa B rants to Marizza that she’s turned Pablo against him. His son could’ve followed in his footsteps and ruled Buenos Aires with an iron first! He could’ve been a contender! Marizza snaps that Papa B just hates Pablo because he’s jealous that Pablo is younger and hotter than him, and also a better person. She’s like, “One day Pablo will take your place in local government, and he’ll be way better at it than you!” Papa B does not like that at all, and he starts yelling at her to give him the proof of his wrongdoings back before he sets her up with a cement overcoat.

Then Pilar rocks in, of all people. She’s like, “What up, Marizza! Can’t wait for the Erreway concert tomorrow!” READ THE ROOM, PILAR. I hate to say it, but as Tomás is getting smarter, Pilar is definitely getting dumber. Maybe he’s sucking the brains out from her. Anyway, Papa B’s like, “What Erreway concert?” and Pilar’s like, “Oops.”

Over in the lounge, everyone is losing their goddamn minds over Erreway. Guido has two tickets and he’s making everyone dance like a puppet for the honor of going with him, and people are actually going along with it because they’re that thirsty for Erreway tickets. Erreway is kinda fake, tbh. They go on and on about justice and equality and fairness but instead of throwing a concert for their classmates, they make them pay exorbitant prices to see them at the Gran Rex. Or agree to go with Guido, which is a fate worse than death.

Javier comes in and saves Marizza from Papa B, which is just tragic. Where you at, Pablo? Javier hustles Papa B off and Marizza’s like, “That happened.” She’s alarmingly blase about it.
Meanwhile, after Lalo told Feli to fuck off with her apologies, she’s trying to find her way back to the bus stop. Some dude tells her that there’s a taxi service ten blocks from here, and Feli whines about how far ten blocks is. She’s clearly not a pedestrian. Anyway, some shady guys stop her in the street and get their vague threat on about how it sure is lucky that she’s alone. Then Lalo comes out of nowhere, because of course he does, and he makes the shady guys back off. Then he condescends to Feli about how ~the streets~ aren’t inherently dangerous; they’re dangerous because shady people can tell that Feli is a rich snob and her attitude makes them want to harass her. Victim blaming! Because nothing bad ever happens to women walking alone! It’s impressive that Lalo has only been on this show for a quarter of a season and is already in the top five worst boys to ever feature.

Lalo keeps ranting to Feli about what Maxi did, and he won’t let her get a word in edgewise about what actually happened. Finally Feli manages to tell him that she’s here to apologize on Maxi’s behalf and pay Lalo back for his troubles. Does that calm him down? Of course not. Instead he goes off about how he didn’t actually want her to try to make amends with him, because he’d rather shame her and make her feel like she’s an inherently bad person who can never truly make it up to him because of the class difference between them. Fuck him.
Meanwhile, Maxi is at Elite Way, looking for Feli. He calls her but she doesn’t pick up. He mentions to Michi that he also texted Feli but didn’t get a response, and Michi’s like, “Ew, texting? That’s so impersonal!” Hee. Michi is not prepared for the 2010s.

Francisco rants to Mia that he absolutely can’t stand that people think they’re dating. Mia’s like, “Wow, okay, you don’t have to be so upset about it.” Heh. Francisco brings up Manuel’s weird man-to-man talk with him about taking care of Mia, and he’s like, “What’s up with him, is he like, dying?” Mia’s like, “…well, actually.” But then Manuel interrupts them and asks to speak to Mia. Ooh, maybe he’s going to apologize to her! JUST KIDDING, OF COURSE HE DOESN’T. Instead, he yells at her because she told Sabrina that Manuel went out with Papa C to buy clothes, so now Sabrina knows that Papa C and Manuel are hanging out. Mia’s like, “Oh, sorry, should I have told her the truth that you have a brain tumor?” Manuel’s like, “Oh. I guess that’s fair.” Nevertheless, he tells Mia to leave him alone. Mia says that she will, but only if Manuel agrees to have the operation.

Uh…I’m on Mia’s side about this whole breakup, but telling Manuel to undergo a risky surgery (in his brain) in exchange for her leaving hime alone is…not an equal request. Jesus. “A Sorta Fairytale” starts coda-ing out the moment and I’m hurt because Tori Amos doesn’t deserve to be stuck in this scene.
Vico confronts Rocco about the missing money, and he admits to stealing it — but says he stole it to buy a new camera. He’s like, “I’ll give it back!” I bet he won’t. Vico stomps off and Michi comes up. She tells Rocco that she’ll replace the money out of her own pocket, but she expects Rocco to pay her back — and he’ll have to find a new income stream, too, because he’s out of the cafeteria job. Wow, they fired two people in as many days. Get your school together, Dunoff.

Fernanda rants to Belen and Sol about how Guido’s making everyone jump through hoops for his extra Erreway ticket. Sol’s like, “Who cares, Erreway is for babies.” “I kind of want to see them,” Belen says. Hee. Some people aren’t loyal.

Papa B confronts Pablo over helping Marizza get back into school. They exchange a bunch of barbs about loyalty and shit, and Pablo is holding his own until Papa B says he’s hauling him off to Pinamar tonight. He’s like, “That would be very inconvenient for me,” and Papa B’s like, “Why? Because you have a teen pop concert to go to?” Pablo denies it and says that he’s not performing or following Marizza anymore; he’s dating Dunoff’s niece instead.

In the midst of all this chaos and threats from the Argentinian mafia, Marizza’s main concern is…hooking Sonia and Martavio up. Marizza, please prioritize. She calls her house and whines to Sonia that she’s just so afraid that Papa B is going to try something; she would feel so much better if Martavio slept over. You know, if Papa B really did try to attack Sonia tonight, what the fuck does Marizza think Martavio’s going to do? He can’t even control a group of teenagers on an overnight trip. Anyway, then Marizza calls Papa C and does her same sob spiel, telling him to go over to Sonia’s so he can catch Martavio there. I swear, Marizza, this is not the time.

Diego stops Laura in the lounge and asks her to put in a good word with Marizza for him. Like, he knows Marizza hates his guts ever since they broke up — for no reason? Since by Marizza’s logic, they were never in love, so nothing about their relationship really bothered her? — but he really wants to go to that Erreway concert, so. Heh. Diego is a terrible person, but he actively fucks with everyone at that school and I can’t hate him for it. After Laura leaves, Guido comes up and tries to challenge Diego for Augustina. He’s all, “I bet I could totally win her back from you!” Diego’s like, “Nice try” and swans off. Suffer, Guido.

Feli comes back to school and tells Michi that her apology didn’t work; Lalo is big mad at her for being a rich girl and threw her out. Michi says that she hoped Feli would get out of her privileged bubble a little bit, but she didn’t think Lalo would blow up at her. Michi, have you met Lalo? Dude has issues. And you know — yeah, Feli is ignorant and privileged and honestly was a total asshole to Lalo when they met, but he rejects all of her attempts to reconcile and uses her background to justify his constant yelling at her and grabbing her by the throat and shit. It’s actually pretty creepy, because Feli can’t change her background, so she can never really make it up to Lalo the way he wants, so he has an “excuse” to keep verbally and physically assaulting her ad infinitum. But I digress. Feli sees Maxi’s missed calls on her phone and asks Michi about them, but Michi says she hasn’t seen Maxi.

Laura and Marizza talk about Lujan for a minute, but then they’re like, “Eh, I bet she’s fine.” Everyone continues to be totally blase about Lujan being kidnapped and taken to another part of the country to meet a woman that none of them know. I mean, at the very least, they could be concerned that Lujan will probably have to repeat 4th year. JK, I know this school has no educational standards and will probably let everyone graduate without any of their required classes. Like, when was the last time they had math class?

Anyway, Pablo comes in. He wants to talk to Marizza, thinking that Papa B must have threatened Marizza into avoiding him. No, Pablo, tragically it is just that Marizza is held in thrall to your creepy stepbrother. Marizza blows Pablo off, again, some more.
On some staircase, Vico cries to Pilar that Rocco is a thief and she doesn’t know what to do. She’s like, “I don’t really want to bother Mia with this, but Pilar, you’re good at scheming, can you help me?” Hee. Pilar tells Vico to talk it out with Rocco all like, “Talking things out with Tomás always helps, even though he has like a total of two brain cells to rub together.” Then Feli comes by and asks if they’ve seen Maxi. Vico says no, but Michi was talking to him earlier. Feli’s like, “What is the truth.”

In Manuel’s room, Marcos is walking around wearing…two pairs of underwear? Lujan dodged a bullet. Marizza comes in looking for Lujan’s letter so she can write back and I guess it’s meant to be funny but it’s kind of boring.

Guido finds Augustina studying and tries to bribe her into going out with him by offering her his Erreway ticket. She says she and Diego were going to go together, so she has to talk to him first. Guido’s like, “Nooo, I need to pick someone to go with me today, so hurry up and pick me.” Augustina says she’ll just go with Diego. Suffer, Guido!

Pablo goes into Marizza’s room and locks her in with him. Why does he even have a key? Whatever. This is some creepy, Javier-level behavior. Be better, Pablo. Marizza won’t tell him that she’s avoiding him because of Javier, but he figures it out anyway. “Your boyfriend is insecure,” he points out. Heh. Pablo accuses her of being like his father — willing to do what it takes to get what she wants in the moment, but afterwards she refuses to deal with the consequences. He’s…not wrong but I don’t know what that actually has to do with this very moment. Anyway, he bitters that he was upset that they won’t see each other after the show, but now he thinks it’s for the best. Marizza is emo.

Over at Casa Bustamante, Papa B rants to Ines about how those meddling kids (and Sonia) took him down. Ines is like, “Okay, yeah, Pablo lied to you, but chill a little.” She suggests that he take a break and relax, and Papa B’s all, “I can’t relax until I get my papers back!!!”

Martavio and Sonia have dinner together, and Martavio’s like, “You know what Marizza is trying to do here, right?” Hee. Sonia admits that she knows Marizza is trying to crowbar them together, but she’s willing to like…try…this thing…if she has to. Martavio’s like, “Well, don’t get too excited.” Sonia says that she owes it to Marizza to give her a family. Martavio points out that Marizza has a family — Sonia’s always supported her and now Martavio is back in the picture; they don’t have to be romantically involved to be a family. That’s a lovely way of putting it and a good lesson overall. Some people don’t have parents at all, Marizza. Martavio kindly says that he knows Sonia loves Papa C, not him, and she should fight for her love.

It deeply pains me to say this, but honestly? At this point? Martavio is totally the better person in this love triangle. Step it up, Papa C.
Speaking of! Papa C walks in just then for maximum dramatic effect. He’s all, “Oh, I thought you were afraid of the mafia, but I see you’re busy macking it with your ex-boyfriend.” Sonia is all shocked and appalled that Marizza is fucking with her love life, even though that’s literally all Marizza does.

Back in Lalo’s sketchy-but-not-really neighborhood, he’s hanging out with his working class not-girlfriend when some equally working class rando runs up to him. He tells Lalo that someone from Elite Way called to offer him his job back. Wow, are you telling me that hiring two random kids on sight without any training didn’t work out for them? Lalo’s not-girlfriend is all mad because she thinks Feli called him. What? Feli’s a student; she’s not HR. Anyway, Lalo is all offended because they want him to come in tomorrow, which is Saturday. What? Does he think the cafeteria is closed and all the kids just starve on the weekend?

Feli’s mom comes to school to see her. She interrogates Feli about where she was earlier, because Maxi called the house looking for her. Feli lies and says she was out with a friend. Feli’s mom starts whining about how Feli shouldn’t worry Maxi, because Maxi cares soooo much about her. He cares so much, in fact, that they should have an engagement party! I think? I want to believe that they’re being a little loose with the word compromiso here, but this show is also insane and had two 15-year-olds get married and run off to live in another state together, so anything can happen. Anyway, Feli balks and BSes that, you know, she and Maxi don’t make that great a couple, what with him being skinny and her being fat. Feli’s mom is like, “Whatever, that’s what anorexia is for.”

Manuel prepares for his impending surgery (in his underwear, as you do). In case he dies, he writes a letter for Mia telling her that she’s the love of his life even though he was a dumbass about it. Oh! Is he going to lose his memory during the surgery and Mia’s going to get this letter and commit to getting him back now that he’s confessed his ~real love~ to her. Gross. (Me, watching a telenovela: “I bet this obvious telenovela move is going to happen and it’s going to be annoying.”) All things considered, Manuel’s being a little extra, don’t you think? You’re not going off to the trenches, dude. Also, note that he does not ever actually write the words “I’m sorry.” Typical.

Manuel gives the letter to Marcos and makes him promise to give to Mia should something happen to him. Nothing specific, just like…something. Marcos is like, “Uh, are you okay?” but Manuel’s like, “I must suffer alone!!!!”
Papa B brings his shady friend to Pablo’s apartment because I guess he’s sold city hall or something. If anyone ever wants to meet with the mayor, they have to do it in his son’s studio! Not weird at all. Anyway, Consuelo is there and Papa B kicks her out, but she eavesdrops. She overhears Papa B’s friend (“Moreno”) tell him that he couldn’t find out who exactly was in Erreway — they’re the biggest* band in Argentina, and yet there are no photos of them! Papa B finds this suspicious. I mean, maybe Erreway is just trying to hide their faces like Daft Punk. Or Lordi.
* I originally wrote “beigest” here, which is also accurate.

Lalo comes back to Elite Way, and Pilar’s like, “The cafeteria isn’t open today because it’s Saturday.” So…they do just let the kids starve on the weekends? Lalo is understandably mad that he commuted from what looks like the other side of the country for this. He less understandably decides to — well, I’ll let you guess. JK, we all know what’s going to happen in our hearts. He decides to assault Feli! Again! Some more!
So he goes to the bathroom to pee or whatever but he overhears Feli talking to Vico (who’s left the room without Feli knowing). So he waits for her to leave the stall and pins her up against it and I guess he doesn’t have to actually use the bathroom anymore. Lalo starts screaming about how he KNOWS she’s trying to ruin his life and WHEN WILL IT END!!! Okay, I don’t know if any of you have ever had a dude really get in your face and yell at you, but it is terrifying and very much an attack. Lalo keeps going on about how HE’S A PERSON!! AND HE HAS FEELINGS!! NOT THAT FELI UNDERSTANDS THAT!! Because he’s so great at treating Feli like a human being himself. Then Feli faints dead away, either from shock or because Lalo was cutting off her windpipe. Fuck Lalo forever, dudes!

Over in the lounge, they are playing DDR to the exact same song as always. Haven’t they beaten this level by now? Anyway, Consuelo comes by to tell Pablo about Papa B’s investigation into Erreway. She gets interrupted, though, by a call from her dad telling her that her mom is in the hospital. She asks Fernanda to pass the message on to Pablo instead — naturally, Fernanda gets distracted (by agreeing to help Sol go on a date with Blas, gross) and never gives Pablo the message. As expected.

Feli comes to and Lalo brings her outside, and he’s all trying to be nice to her now. She’s like, “Okay, your violent freakout really scared me though.” Lalo’s like, “Well, I wouldn’t have done it if you hadn’t made me mad.” Feli insists that she wasn’t the one to call Lalo about his job, and he’s like, “Okay, I believe you, calm down you overemotional woman.” I hate him so much. I hope a meteor hits him, Blas, and Javier, and those three only.

Then Michi shows up and tells Lalo that she was the one who called him about the job, so all of this was for nothing. She confirms that he’s gotten his job back, even though he just assaulted a student and everything. Job security at Elite Way is wild. You either get fired within the first day of work or you get hired and stay on despite repeatedly abusing your power, there is no in-between.
And now, the Erreway show! Or the run up to it, anyway. Sonia comes to school and semi-berates Marizza for trying to sow discord in her love life. But then she’s like, “I’m just so proud of you for performing at the Gran Rex, so I’ll discipline you later!” I mean, Marizza’s sold out the Gran Rex before, Sonia, this isn’t a special event anymore. Then Papa C rocks up looking for Mia, and he’s all cold and snippy with Sonia. “I guess he doesn’t love you anymore,” Marizza chirps. She’s like, “You should call Martavio!” Marizza, can you please focus.

Vico begs Rocco to go to the show with her, but he insists that he has a prior engagement. I mean, to be fair, Rocco is like a peak early-2000s alternative kid. I bet he only listens to Linkin Park with some Green Day for flavor. Vico asks him to rearrange his schedule, and he’s like, “Whatever, Erreway will probably sell out the Gran Rex again next week.” He runs off and Vico worries that he’s Up to Something. She frets to Pilar and Pilar’s like, “Don’t worry, I bet it’s not anything illegal. He’s probably just cheating on you or something.” Heh. Vico decides to follow Rocco instead.

And now, a slideshow of Erreway getting ready for the show in real life! And then we cut to them in the same outfits, but they’re in character again! Manuel has like, fish fins-slash-fake cornrows because the hair department hates Felipe Colombo. Also, I feel like doing his hair like that can’t be helping his headaches, but whatever. He insists to the band that he feels fine, but I bet he doesn’t.

Pablo says that he needs a moment before he goes onstage. Everyone clears out, conveniently leaving him alone. Oh! What an excellent opportunity for Papa B to just waltz in, because there’s never any security backstage! The Gran Rex is as well-guarded as Elite Way, I guess.
