Previously on Rebelde Way: Papa B caught Marizza and Pablo looking through his stuff and promptly lost his shit. He started throwing Pablo around and crazying that he’ll send his own son to jail if he has to. He snaps at Pablo to think hard about giving the papers back to him, and storms out. Marizza’s like, “Wow, Pablo, I always forget that your home life is actually really fucked up.”
Back at school, Feli tells Mia and Vico that Maxi kissed her. They’re like, “Give us details!” and Feli’s like, “Well, I threw up in my mouth a little, but other than that it was fine.” She gets defensive when Vico mocks her, and she’s like, “Whatever, you’re dating a guy with hair that is literally vertical.” “Rocco’s hair is cute,” Vico says. Vico, I ship you two to death, but I can’t support that take. Mia just ditches them in the middle of all this to go be emo somewhere else.
Francisco finds Mia being a sadsack. She wibbles to him that her friends are all in love, but she’s alone. Francisco assures her that she’ll find someone and kisses her forehead. All the tertiary characters snicker when they walk by and Francisco’s like, “Are they laughing at us?” Mia’s like, “Nah.” I bet they are.
In the boys’ room, Guido and Tomás try to talk Pablo out of his admittedly suicidal mission to expose Papa B and get Marizza back into the school. Rocco’s like, “Come on guys, we must be rebelde!” He says they could all work together to get Marizza back into the school, instead of letting Pablo get beaten up by his dad. Guido and Tomás are like, “Oh, there’s an idea.” Tomás volunteers to talk to Dunoff: “Actually, I’ll tell Pilar to talk to Dunoff.” Hee. Pablo shuts them down and says he’ll handle it himself.
Marizza whines to Sonia that she misses school. I’m holding you to this, Marizza! When this subplot is over and you start complaining about how shitty Elite Way is, I’ll remember this conversation! Marizza tells Sonia about Papa B being abusive, and she’s like, “How could he do this to Pablo?!” Marizza, you have known this about Papa B like, ever since you met him. It’s wild how she totally forgets about Pablo’s abusive home life until it becomes convenient. Anyway, Martavio comes home and Sonia tells him that she’s going to confront Papa B herself.
Sonia calls Papa B, but it turns out that he’s out terrorizing hapless assistants. He walks in on Consuelo picking through the papers at Pablo’s apartment, and starts throwing her around and threatening her to tell him what Pablo is up to. She admits that Pablo is indeed up to something, but then we cut away.
At school, Javier is big mad that Pablo made him think Marizza was on vacation. Hee. I love that he’s still mad about that. The rest of us have moved on to political corruption and whistleblowing; keep up, Javier! Carmen comes in to begin class and tells them she’ll flunk them all if they don’t settle down. “Give us whatever grade you want, nothing matters here!” Manuel says. Okay, maybe it doesn’t matter to you, Manuel, since you’re working on your second high school diploma, but I think everyone else here wants to graduate.
All the kids protest that they can’t have class when something so serious has happened. Carmen smugly tells them that rebeldía accomplishes nothing, blah blah adults don’t understand blah. Then Blas comes in and summons Sol.
Sonia tries calling Papa B again, and he picks up this time. She tells him that she has some very incriminating documents, and she wants to meet at a place of her choosing to discuss them. Instead of being like, “Okay, what are these documents and what do they say?”, Papa B caves and agrees to her terms immediately. He’s so bad at being corrupt. I could run an mafia operation out of a political office better than him.
In the cafeteria, Lalo emos to Michi about all the things he would do if he didn’t have to work this shitty minimum wage job — help in a bar, travel, not get beat up by rich kids all day…the dream life. And then the police show up and arrest him. Rough life, Lalo. Michi’s like, “What the fuck?” and the police tell her that they received a report that Lalo is involved in…some kind of crime. IDK, Michi’s shrieking makes it hard to hear.
Blas takes Sol to the teachers’ lounge, and she cries to Blas that she’s miserable because he doesn’t love her or some shit; whatever, I don’t care. Go to therapy, Sol!
All the kids gather after class and talk about how they have to help Marizza, for great justice. Pablo says that he’s the only person that can help Marizza, because he knows Papa B’s shady secrets. Javier accuses Pablo of talking big but not doing anything to help, and Pablo says that he’s different from Papa B. Javier’s like, “Au contraire!” and shoves him and then they fight for two seconds before Michi breaks it up. I wanted to see Javier get punched 🙁 All the kids start telling her that they’re going to march in the streets for great justice, and Michi wins my eternal forgiveness by snapping at them to sit down and let their parents handle it. THANK YOU, MICHI! For the love of God, can someone call an adult in here.
Sonia goes off to confront Papa B. Marizza and Martavio are like, “What if he kills you in his office and dumps your body into the sea!” and Sonia’s like, “Well, I guess that would suck.” She goes off and Papa C comes by. He’s like, “You let her meet the head of the Argentinian mafia by HERSELF?” Heh. The three of them storm off to go find her. And by “the three of them” I mean only Papa C actually shows up later. I don’t know.
In the cafeteria, kids are trying to order food, but Feli and Michi tell them to fuck off so they can talk. Yeah! They’re literally only allowed to eat in the cafeteria by ordering at the counter, but let them starve! Honestly, someone’s parents should probably get Michi fired, too. I say this as someone who generally loves her. Feli is all huffy over how Lalo isn’t in the cafeteria and that’s probably because he’s coming up with new ways to stalk her. Michi’s like, “No, the police came and accused him of kidnapping someone and arrested him.” Feli’s like, “Oh. My bad.”
Sonia rocks up to Papa B and accuses him of accepting dirty money from some shady businessman. Papa B’s kind of like, “Whatever.” Then Papa C shows up and I don’t know what he was hoping to do, but Papa B is just like, “Whatever” even more at seeing Sonia and Papa C together. Then he swans off. Papa C asks Sonia if she’s okay and they stare at each other dramatically.
Francisco walks Mia to the door of the school and all the kids gossip loudly that they’re TOTALLY DATING, again, some more. Francisco is offended by this. I don’t know what he expected? From my memories of middle and high school, all you had to do was sneeze near a boy and people would start wondering if you were dating.
Back at Martavio’s house, Sonia gloats that Papa B went white as a ghost when she confronted him, which means that they totally have dirt on him! I don’t recall him being in any way freaked out by what Sonia said, but I was also concentrating on a very good bowl of pasta during that scene, so maybe I missed it. Martavio tells Sonia that she did well, and Sonia gets all emo thinking about Papa C. You know it’s especially sad because Tori Amos starts playing in the background.
Consuelo tells Pablo that she really does not want to be in this thing with him and Papa B anymore. She thought she was signing up for a minimum wage job, not getting set up with a pair of cement boots! She tells Pablo that she covered for him and said that Pablo was looking for information about his mom, not Papa B’s dirty misdeeds. Pablo is relieved, but less relieved when Papa B calls and wants to see him.
Mia goes to see the doctor under the guise of being Manuel’s cousin. The doctor’s like, “Yeah, his brain is hella fucked up, but apparently he’s not doing anything about it.”
Dunoff wants to know why Michi is working in the cafeteria. Michi’s like, “Because Lalo got arrested?” and Dunoff’s like, “Who’s Lalo?” Michi’s like, “Aren’t you the principal of this school?” Heh. Dunoff blows up that Lalo’s been suspected of kidnapping, and insists that no one accused of such a thing should be allowed to set foot in the school. I mean, Manuel’s been accused of it, and Blas is also a sex offender, so let’s not get on our high horse here.
Feli accuses Maxi of getting Lalo arrested. Maxi’s like, “He was watching you in the bar! He was probably going to carry you off later!” Feli is upset that Maxi’s fucking with Lalo’s livelihood, since Lalo can’t go to work while he’s in jail. Ha! I love that that’s the closest she can get to sympathy for the working class. She’s basically this tweet:
Mia cries in a park somewhere and Papa C just happens to find her. Luisana Lopilato is getting better at crying attractively, I will say. She tells Papa C that Manuel has a real medical issue but he won’t do anything about it. He might die! That wouldn’t make me too sad, but poor Mia is all dickmatized.
Marcos tries to make up with Laura, but the effect is ruined by the DDR music in the background. They agree to just not talk about it instead — because that’s the best way to deal with an issue in your relationship — but then Marcos gets a letter from Lujan and he gets all twitterpated. Laura gets mad again, some more.
Papa B comes to the school and tells Pablo that Martavio is a criminal. He’s sure Pablo helped him under duress, so if Pablo just gives the incriminating papers back, they can forget this whole thing. Pablo refuses and Papa B’s all, “How can you betray me? I am your father!” to which Pablo says, “Then I guess I’m not your son anymore.” Oh snap!
Rocco and Vico hang out at Vico’s house and marvel at their renovation efforts, by which I mean they put up like five new lights and called it good. It sure would be unfortunate if anything were to ruin their happiness! Aaand then Vico’s dad comes in. Wow, he got back from Bariloche fast. He tells them that he’s going to put his bags down, and then they’re going to have a talk. For once, a character on this show does the smart thing, and Vico drags Rocco out of there as soon as her dad leaves the room.
Papa B’s shady business friend chews him out for getting his incriminating papers stolen. His shady business friend — whose nickname sounds to be “Taqui”, but that only makes me think of Takis — tells him that if he doesn’t get the papers back, none of Buenos Aires’s best and shadiest CEOs will donate to his next campaign. Papa B sweatdrops.
Marcos shows Francisco Lujan’s letter, and tells him that Lujan has written that she wants to get back together — she wants him to leave Laura and date her when she comes back from her little kidnapping trip. Jesus, Lujan, love yourself. Marcos frets that he can’t be so callous as to just dump Laura for Lujan. But he was cool with dumping Lujan for Fernanda, or Fernanda for Laura? I really hope Blas forged that letter or something, because Lujan begging Marcos to get back together after that is embarrassing.
Papa B goes to yell at Sonia and Marizza, and of course Martavio just so happens to have stepped out at that moment. Papa B gets all threateny that ~things~ can happen to two women left alone. Sonia grabs a sculpture and threatens to hit him with it but sadly doesn’t. Instead, they sit down and talk. This is just like when Twilight built up to that giant vampire battle and instead everyone talked it out and then went home. Sonia says she’ll give him back the documents if he gets Marizza and Martavio back into Elite Way. Wow, so instead of whistleblowing corruption in Argentina’s political system, Sonia used her leverage for personal gain. Tragic. When Martavio gets home, they squeal over their success and tell him that he has his job back — but for some reason, he says he won’t go back. I say “some reason” because I know the total lack of curriculum and boundaries at Elite Way doesn’t actually bother him, so I don’t know what gives.
Vico and Rocco bail back to Elite Way and Rocco promises to help her with her dad. Because it worked so well the last time.
Lalo comes back to school and Michi tells him that, in the two hours that he was gone, Dunoff fired him for being charged with a crime. Michi promises to help him find a different job, and Lalo’s like, “I kind of need one NOW, though.” He goes to yell at Feli and he pushes her up against a wall and grabs her by the throat. Not creepy at all! I changed my mind; Lalo deserved to get fired. Feli tries to explain, but he yells at her that she’s a trash person and he hates her forever. Wow! Fuck Lalo! He’s the worst!
Marcos sits Laura down and tells her that she’s right: they don’t have any chemistry, and they’re better as friends. Laura’s like, “I knew this was going to happen because I sent you that letter, not Lujan.” She tells him that she knows he’s still crazy in love with Lujan, so she tried to push him into admitting it by sending him that letter. I mean…she’s not wrong about what happened, but just break up with him yourself, Laura, damn. I am relieved that Lujan didn’t actually send that letter, though. I was feeling very embarrassed on her behalf for still chasing Marcos after all he’s done.
Papa C comes to see Manuel and he’s like, “So you know you’re like, dying of brain cancer, right?” Manuel’s like, “Me? Die?” We can only hope, Manuel!
