Jsyk, this was a very difficult episode to get through because I had to pause my Netflix Christmas movie binge to watch it. Like, I don’t really care if Blas is Lujan’s tutor anymore! All I care about is if this lady is going to save her farm and get back together with her high school ex-boyfriend in their small town by Christmas Eve!
Anyway, previously on Rebelde Way: We finally found out the truth about Blas and Lujan, and it was deeply anticlimactic: Lujan met Blas’s dad like once, and Blas’s dad remained obsessed with her for his entire life and asked Blas to take care of her. That’s it. Blas and Lujan aren’t even really related. I thought I was watching a telenovela. Where are my secret relatives?
Anyway, so Blas has lured Lujan back to his house to learn more about Ricardo Fara. When Marizza comes back to the main hall with Hilda, they see that Blas and Lujan are both gone. They run off to look for them, and I’ll just spoil you now and say that they don’t try very hard at all so they don’t find them.
Meanwhile, Dunoff and Martavio are trying to work things out with Carmen, Pablo, and Javier. They all agree that everyone involved was a little over the top, and Carmen says she’ll give them a new assignment and grade them fairly. I don’t even remember how this whole thing started. Did she give them an F on an assignment? I thought she just yelled at them in front of God and everybody. Whatever, I don’t care. So now that’s resolved. Carmen leaves, but Dunoff says that Pablo and Javier are still going to be punished for insubordination.

Blas takes Lujan to his apartment and shows her a bunch of letters from Ricardo Fara. Apparently, despite only meeting her once, Ricardo Fara never shut up about Lujan for the rest of his life, and constantly wrote Blas letters berating him for not being like the sassy 7-year-old he met on the street for like 10 minutes. Okay, I have to admit, that would annoy me, too. Not enough to turn me into an abuser, though. Lujan rightly is like, “That’s rough bro, but not really my fault.” Blas yells at her to read the letters. Eventually Marizza and Hilda show up, having figured out that Blas must have taken Lujan back to his place, and Blas is like, “If you leave, you’ll never be able to read the rest of the letters!” So Lujan stays, even though there’s like eighty letters and they all say basically the same thing. Hilda and Marizza are like, “Okay, whatever, if she wants to stay,” and wander off to leave Lujan alone with a sex offender.

Pablo, Javier, Rocco, and Marcos are all hanging out together for some reason. Why would they — oh my God, whatever. You’ll recall that Marcos is in trouble for punching Blas earlier, so basically, everyone at this table is screwed except Rocco. Rocco says that he has something that can help them, but first, Pablo has to apologize for being a dick to Rocco’s gay friend. I don’t recall Pablo actually being that much of a douche — Tomás explicitly called Dani a fruit/fairy, but I guess he’s not here for Rocco to yell at him about it. Anyway, Pablo’s like, “Okay, sorry, whatever.” They call Dunoff in and finally show him the video that Rocco took of Michi washing Dunoff’s shirt while Dunoff stands by half-naked. Pablo sighs that it doesn’t matter if Dunoff confiscates the tape, since they have a copy, and his dad would definitely find it super interesting. “Are you extorting me?” Dunoff says. Javier and Pablo get all “Blackmail is such an ugly word” on him, and tell him that it might be in his best interests to forget about punishing anyone. Dunoff scowls and agrees. After he leaves, Javier pats Pablo on the shoulder all, “We make a pretty good team, hermanito!” “Don’t touch me, and don’t call me ‘hermanito’,” Pablo tells him. HEE.

Consuelo shows up to talk to Pablo, and all the boys lose their minds over her, as usual. I swear to God, it’s like they don’t go to school in a telenovela where they see unusually attractive people every day. Marcos in particular is salivating and making a fool out of himself, which is weird, because he is also the only one of the four with an actual girlfriend. Freaking Marcos.
Over in the office, Sonia yells at Dunoff for suspending Lujan. How could he kick out the orphan girl without a home to go to? Dunoff bleats that he didn’t suspend anyone, and Sonia shows him the form that Blas had him sign. Dunoff’s like, “Oh, that. Yeah, sometimes I just sign things without looking at them, whoops.” He whines that he doesn’t have time to like, pay attention to what’s going on at the school he runs — he’s too busy thinking about what a shambles his life is right now! Oh, and here’s Gloria to make it worse. She announces that, during that talk that we didn’t get to see, she and Antonio fell back in love and she’s moving to Spain to be with him. LOL, I bet she’s not. You’re going to die alone, Gloria! Accept it!
Consuelo gives Pablo a folder from Papa B, and then all the boys descend on her again for no real reason. Manuel tells Pablo that they have to talk, leaving Consuelo to the mercy of the rest of the boys in their class. Pablo yells at them not to touch Consuelo while he’s gone, which is possibly the most respectful any of the boys have been of a woman’s personal space since this season began. Anyway, outside, Manuel tells Pablo that Sabrina is their manager now, but they have to pretend like she’s not so the girls won’t get mad. Pablo thinks that’s dumb, but Manuel protests that they can’t find anyone else — and besides, Sabrina knows the press and how to navigate the music industry. She does? She’s like, nineteen. Whatever. Pablo agrees to hide Sabrina’s managership from the girls, which I’m sure won’t blow up in their faces at all.

In the cafeteria, Sonia gets a call from the maid, telling her that Marizza asked her to pack all her clothes up. Sonia has a flashback to Martavio saying that Marizza needs to learn how to live like the plebes, so she tells the maid not to deliver all of Marizza’s clothes. Hee! Suffer, Marizza!
After meeting up with Manuel, Pablo goes looking for Consuelo, possibly concerned that the boys have dogpiled on her and killed her in the process, like the ending of Perfume. The boys giggle that she’s in Pablo’s room and needle him about dating her. Pablo is actually weirdly defensive that they’re totally NOT dating — except wasn’t he hitting on her when Papa B first hired her? Whatever — and runs off to see her. She’s sitting in a chair, getting a shoulder massage from Javier, and it’s deeply weird. Consuelo chirps that Pablo’s brother is SOOOO nice. The girls in this show really lack stranger danger. Pablo kicks Javier out and tells Consuelo not to call Javier his brother, again, some more. Then Consuelo gives Pablo a massage. I don’t know. Are we going to find out what was in that folder or not?

Lujan calls Marizza and tells her that she’s fine and Blas hasn’t murdered her yet. Marizza’s like, “Cool, bye.” She tells Hilda that Lujan is fine, and Hilda derps, “Who’s Lujan?” She also tells Marcos that Lujan is at Blas’s, and he nearly loses his damn mind, except then Marizza calms him down and nothing happens, so whatever.
In the cafeteria, Rocco, Diego, Tomás, and Marcos are all still hanging out together for some reason. NONE OF THEM LIKE EACH OTHER, WHY IS THIS HAPPENING. The boys make mildly homophobic jokes in Rocco’s direction, and Vico, who’s sitting with Mia and Feli, wonders why Rocco doesn’t defend himself. Mia and Feli are like, “…why, is he NOT gay?” They needle Vico a bit about liking Rocco, which she cops to, which devolves into all the girls gossiping about their various crushes.

Dunoff tells Gloria that she has to find a suitable replacement before she leaves. Considering that Gloria, like everyone who works here, is wildly incompetent, that shouldn’t be too hard, but Dunoff rejects all the candidates. Presumably they said something wrong like, “As a mandatory reporter, I would say something if I saw a student being harassed by a teacher.” Gloria wails to Sonia that Dunoff doesn’t like any of the candidates and she’ll never be able to leave Elite Way. Jesus Christ, Gloria, I’m pretty sure that’s illegal. Report Dunoff to the department of labor! Sonia’s like, “That’s rough, buddy,” and then she gets interrupted by a call from Papa C. She coos to him that she loves him SO MUCH and she REALLY LOVES DATING HIM AND MAKING OUT WITH HIM AND PROBABLY HAVING SEX WITH HIM BUT THE SHOW WON’T LET THEM SAY THAT, a thousand kisses, bye! Gloria’s like, “So you and Papa C are dating, huh,” and Sonia’s like, “Did I say that out loud?” She tells Gloria that Marizza still doesn’t know, and even Gloria is like, “Dude, you really gotta tell your daughter about your literal fiancé.”

Javier asks Marizza out, and she tells him she can’t, as she has to go to the sad orphanage with Martavio. Javier asks if he can come along, and Marizza accepts.
Prophetic Emo Hair approaches Manuel and asks if he wants to see Amarte duele with her this afternoon. IS THERE NO OTHER MOVIE OUT IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY RIGHT NOW? I swear to God. Manuel accepts, but then Sabrina calls, wanting to meet up with him. He BSes that he’s busy rehearsing this afternoon, so they make plans for the night.
Sol makes Fernanda call Blas, as she wants to hit on him some more and she can’t do that while he’s emotionally abusing his dad’s orphaned ward. Back at Blas’s place, Lujan finally gets tired of reading all of Ricardo Fara’s letters. She snaps at Blas that he doesn’t have to keep stalking her now that his dad’s dead and starts to leave, but Blas stops her and says that she has to stay and find out who her parents really were. Oh my God, Blas, just TELL her, I have been here for like a million years. Blas gives her a folder and watches her read the papers inside, not that we get to find out what they say.

Sol is all mad that Blas’s familial drama is ruining her plans to have an inappropriate relationship, so she decides to go out and look for him. Before she leaves, she spritzes on some of Mia’s perfume. When Mia, Feli, and Vico come back to the room, Mia sniffs the air and realizes Sol used her perfume. She nearly loses her mind but then she doesn’t. Whatever.
Laura tries to talk Lola into hanging out with her. Lola agrees, as long as they go somewhere that she has in mind. She takes Laura to a hospital, saying that she was born here and she wants to go in and find out who her real parents are. Laura’s like, “I don’t think you can just waltz in and ask.” She turns out to be right, and Lola doesn’t find anything at the hospital, but Lola vows not to give up.

Javier and Marizza announce to Pablo and Consuelo that they’re bringing food to the children’s home. Pablo is all salty about them hanging out together, and he gets even saltier when Consuelo chirps that Javier and Marizza are a cute couple. Don’t lie, Consuelo. “Javier” and “cute” don’t belong in the same sentence together.
Like half that damn school goes to see Amarte duele yet again. Mia, Feli, and Vico all bawl their eyes out, and Manuel gets teary on his date with Prophetic Emo Hair. After the movie, they all run into each other outside and it’s super tense. Mia gets a call from Sabrina, asking if they’re rehearsing. Manuel mouths at Mia to say yes, so she does, covering for him. Outside, Manuel’s like, “You covered for me because you’re still in love with me! We have a love like Amarte duele!” Uh, that means one of you is going to die, Manuel. Hopefully you. Anyway, Mia snipes that when she finds real love, she’ll ride or die just like the girl in Amarte duele (who does sleep with the guy, if that’s what Mia’s getting at), but tragically, she still hasn’t found a love like that.

Sol and Fernanda stalk Blas to his apartment. Sol wibbles to Blas that she just had the most AWFUL day, and she’d love if he would take her to see Amarte duele to make her feel better. Oh my God, isn’t Amarte duele out on VHS and DVD by now? Just RENT it, Sol. Anyway, Blas sighs that his day has been pretty crappy, too — emotionally abusing his dad’s ward is so exhausting! — and having an inappropriate date with an underage student is just the thing to cheer him up. He agrees to take her to see the movie.

On their way to the children’s home, one of Javier’s friends sees him and he’s like, “Hey, Javier, what’s up! My man, my dude, king of the skateboard!” Marizza’s like, “I thought you were bad at skateboarding?” and Javier’s like, “Oh, ha ha, I totally am,” and hisses at his friend to STOP BLOWING HIS COVER WITH THE GIRL THAT HE LIKES, WHOM HE HAS TOLD LIKE EIGHT MILLION LIES TO. His friend fucks off, but Marizza is now suspicious. Javier quickly BSes that his friend was just joking, because Javier is SOOOO bad at skateboarding and needs SOOOO much help. Marizza offers to help him. Oh my God, I am losing actual years off my life here.
Over at the children’s home, the children are cheering at Martavio’s arrival. God, this is heartbreaking. Imagine growing up in a world where you think Martavio is actually an entertaining human being. Marizza and Javier show up, and one of the ladies working there shows Marizza a big suitcase full of clothes, gushing that Sonia Rey donated it. Marizza realizes that Sonia donated a bunch of HER clothes instead of letting Marizza take them with her. Literally all the shirts she pulls out are ugly as sin, so I think Sonia did her a favor. Marizza can’t exactly take clothes away from the kids in front of God and everybody, though, so she pastes a smile on and chirps that it’s fine, TOTALLY FINE, that Sonia gave away her clothes.

Back at school, Sonia convinces Dunoff to hire Michi as the new secretary. She BSes that Papa B wants Michi to be the school’s secretary for reasons, and Dunoff just wouldn’t want to upset Papa B, would he? Dunoff agrees.

Night falls, and Lujan finally comes back to Elite Way. Marcos is waiting in the hall, and she asks him where Marizza is. Marcos tells her that Marizza went out, and Lujan’s like, “But I can’t process my trauma without Marizza here to hold my hand!” Marcos asks Lujan to talk to him, but Lujan snaps that she doesn’t want his pity.

Papa C and Sonia have their date at the same restaurant that Manuel works at, which I don’t believe for a second. This restaurant doesn’t even make Manuel wear a valet uniform, and all the rich-ass people in Buenos Aires eat there? Whatever. Naturally Manuel walks in on them making out, and they’re like, “Oh, yeah, we’re engaged, but don’t tell Mia or Marizza, k?” and Manuel’s like, “Cool” and they’re like, “Cool.” As soon as they leave, though, Manuel looks shiftily around and goes to make a phone call.

At the orphan home, Marizza is busy losing her damn mind. First she starts telling the kids a story about a “super fat woman named Sonia Rey”, because clearly she still hasn’t gotten over thinking that being fat is some kind of character flaw. Then Pablo and Consuelo show up — for some reason — and Marizza hurls a giant ball at Consuelo because she’s big mad that Pablo has a new girlfriend. Pablo starts yelling at Marizza in Consuelo’s defense, then Javier comes to Marizza’s defense, and finally Martavio has to break them all up. In the middle of their fight, Marizza gets a call. “Are you SURE?” she asks the person on the other end. Honestly, every time this show misses an opportunity for a “No puede ser”, my heart breaks a little.
