Previously on Rebelde Way: Javier is getting kicked out of Elite Way! Ha, ha, in my dreams. Papa B and Ines have received a letter from the psychologist, telling them the results of Javier’s tests. Tragically, the psychologist has not managed to uncover Javier’s serial killer tendencies, and instead tells them that Javier demonstrates above-average intelligence. He might even be a genius!
This is the most audacious lie this show has tried to pull off since trying to convince us that Manuel is a good boyfriend. Javier had to call like three people to help him come up with the “hole in my brain” lie. The only reason he’s even getting away with this is because Marizza will fall for any sob story that she hears. Prediction: Marizza’s going to send a lot of money to Nigerian princes in her future.
Anyway, Marizza is all hype that Javier won’t be pulled out of Elite Way for extreme stupidity, but Papa B says that the choice is up to Pablo. If Pablo doesn’t want to keep going to school with Javier, they’re going to find another school for him, no matter how smart he is.
Meanwhile, Guido is sweatdropping in the presence of Augustina’s dad, Poor Man’s Nicolas Cage. He BSes that he can’t open his locker and look for everything because the key is broken, and runs off before they can stop him. Augustina’s dad is like, “The fuck is up with him?” and Augustina cries that Guido dumped her, but she’ll do anything to get back together with him, anything! She makes her dad help her get them back together. This will end well.
Vico and Rocco go to some bar somewhere to convince the owner to let them perform for money. Oh. I thought Vico was going to do something much shadier for money, so this is a relief. Rocco keeps jumping in and trying to help her negotiate, and Vico’s like, “Stop saying words.” Rocco correctly-but-pushily tells Vico that making money for her dad is only a temporary measure — and it’s not like “dive bar singer” is a lucrative career — and Vico cuts him out of the deal. Oh, I see, they were going to sing together, like they did on that boat that one time. Whatever. Vico tells the club owner that she’s going to sing solo, and they shake on it.
Papa C comes to school to see Sonia, who’s still locked in the art room. He goes in and apologizes to her yet again, and she’s like, “Okay, you have to stop acting crazy about me and Martavio, for real this time.” Papa C promises to stop losing his damn mind every time Sonia and Martavio’s names are mentioned together in conjunction. He also says that he’ll help her with Marizza, and Sonia’s like, “Oh, you mean you’ll find me a lawyer so I can give up custody with her without a fight?” and Papa C’s like, “…no. Seriously, we gotta work on this.”
Francisco stops Feli in the hallway and apologizes for being such a jerkface earlier. He offers to make it up to her by taking her to the movie after all, and Feli is all twitterpated.
Marizza goes to see Pablo at his office. She finds a suspicious envelope on his desk, but before she can look at it, Pablo and Consuelo walk in. Marizza’s all mad to see that his secretary is some cute blonde girl, and she makes a bunch of needless comments about how Consuelo is probably dumb and skanky. Pablo tells Marizza to knock it off, and then quietly needles her about how he totally has the hottest secretary in town. Sigh. It’s always one step forward, two steps back with the boys on this show. Consuelo says her job is to write down literally everything Pablo discusses, so she can’t leave him and Marizza alone to talk privately. Marizza snipes that Consuelo should make a note that they’re discussing Pablo’s problems with incontinence. Pablo sighs and makes Consuelo leave. Never change, Marizza.
Meanwhile, Pilar and Tomás are hanging out on the pool table, while Guido hides under it. Hee. He’s such a cowardly custard. Augustina comes up looking for Guido, and Pilar immediately sells him out because she is the best.
Back at Papa B’s office, Pablo teases Marizza over her being jealous of Consuelo. Marizza asks Pablo if he really loves her, and Pablo’s like, “Freaking yes, I’ve only told you like ten times already.” Marizza tells Pablo that only he has the power to make Javier stay at Elite Way. Pablo’s like, “Wow, that works out really well for me,” but then Marizza tells him that, if Pablo really loves her, he can prove it by letting Javier stay. Dammit! Pablo, if you really love ME, you’ll put me out of my misery and make Javier go away. Tragically, Pablo is insensible to the needs of the audience. He tells Marizza that he’ll let Javier stay if she goes out with him, and Marizza flips out that he’s being a douchebag just like his dad. She refuses to go out with him, and tells him to decide with his conscience instead. I mean…she has a point, but the point is in service of Javier, so…there’s no good here.
Papa C, Sonia, and Martavio finally manage to sit down and discuss the custody arrangement like adults. Well, kind of: Sonia’s all, “Me and Marizza had one fight, so I’m planning on turning custody over to you.” Martavio’s like, “Uh, that’s nice and all, but maybe you should talk to Marizza first.”
Feli gushes to Mia that Francisco’s asked her out again, and Mia adorably changes her plans with Lucas so that Feli and Francisco can be alone. Mia is too good for everyone on this show.
However, if you were naive enough to think that Francisco was being a decent person by asking Feli out again, let’s not get hasty: he immediately starts prodding Feli into asking Mia and Lucas to double-date with them again. When Feli chirps that they’re actually going alone, Francisco gets mad salty and goes off to whine to Manuel that he doesn’t want to have to, like, go out with Feli and talk to her or anything! He just wanted to use her with no consequences! Why do girls have to be so difficult? Manuel’s like, “Ugh, how dare Mia and Feli ruin our plans to stalk them!”
I hate them both.
Lujan goes to some place that is definitely not a library, but apparently she was supposed to pick up Ricardo Fara’s book there. The guy at the desk tells her that someone else has already taken their copy. Lujan’s like, “Let me guess, was it a twenty-something guy with blue eyes, a beard, and a creepy obsession with high school girls?” The not-library employees tell her that it was actually an older woman, with white hair. Lujan is confused.
Marcos chases Laura down and begs her to give him another chance. Like, he’s going to dump her when he gets bored with her, but that’s not going to happen for a while yet, so she should stick around! He tells her that he’s only helping Lujan as a friend, because he feels bad for her. He definitely doesn’t like her like THAT, even though he literally just told Manuel that he can only get it up when he’s with Lujan. Whatever. Laura doesn’t love herself, and she takes him back.
Pablo tells Papa B to let Javier stay at Elite Way. Papa B’s like, “You sure? ‘Cause like, he’s punching you out and stealing your girlfriend and everything,” but Pablo insists that Javier should stay. Oh, Pablo.
Vico sits in the stairwell, playing guitar and singing. Just your occasional reminder that all of the background actors are more talented than everyone actually in Erreway. Rocco comes up to her and compliments her on her playing; he says the reason he got all pushy with the club guy is because he thinks she’s too talented to play for so little pay. Vico snipes that she just needs a little money, and she doesn’t care if they pay her tons. Rocco starts getting all in her face again about her method of handling her dad, which — I’ve said this a million times, but it keeps coming up, so — yeah, Vico’s idea of just giving her dad money and hoping for the best isn’t a great one. On the other hand, Rocco keeps getting really pushy and condescending with her about why she just doesn’t FiX hEr sItUaTiON by standing up to her dad, and it’s really stupid because why would she pick a fight with the person whose roof she lives under, and also, if this was a situation that could easily be fixed by a teenager, then maybe you should fix it yourself, Rocco. But he can’t, because it isn’t. Like, can he appreciate the actual reality of Vico’s situation?
Anyway, before Rocco can condescend to her some more, Gloria interrupts and says that Vico’s dad is calling. He wants Vico to come home for the night, and Vico agrees, even though that means she’ll have to skip the performance at the club. Rocco points out that there’s no point in her trying to get money for her dad if she’s just going to cancel and go home empty-handed.
Marizza comes back to school, and Javier asks her if she managed to convince Pablo to let him stay. Marizza’s like, “Not without veering dangerously close into prostitution territory, so no.” Javier sighs that there’s no solution left: he’s gonna have to run away and live on the streets. Marizza’s all freaked out by this, even though every single person who lives on the streets of Buenos Aires in this show is remarkably well-adjusted and conventionally attractive. She tells him to stay, and says that she has plenty of problems, but she doesn’t solve them by bailing. Javier’s like, “Why not?” and suggests that they run away together. Don’t do it, Marizza!
And now, we gotta pretend to care about Guido and Augustina some more. They manage to have a semi-mature talk about their relationship. I say “semi” because they’re both still tragic — and Guido acts totally condescending towards Augustina, even though he’s just as immature as she is. Guido tells Augustina that he does still like her (I feel like that’s a lie, but the show doesn’t play it as such), but he doesn’t want to be tied down. Augustina tells him that she doesn’t need her presents back, which relieves Guido. He’s less relieved, though, when she tells him that her dad still wants to talk to him. Heh.
Marizza and Javier rant about their respective family situations — Marizza’s all, “I’m never going to talk to my mom ever again, because I hate her the most!” and Javier’s all, “I hate Pablo the most for making my parents think I need to change schools!” Marizza’s like, “Hold up, that was mostly Papa B’s fault,” and Javier’s like, “NO. PABLO IS THE ENEMY.” Marizza isn’t weirded out by this, even though she should be. She reminds Javier that they’re running away together, and he beams at her. Gross.
Ines and Papa B show up to school, and shoo Marizza off so they can talk to Javier privately. They tell him that Pablo’s graciously letting him stay at Elite Way after all — just like he wanted! Javier’s like, “UGH, parents, I’ve managed to finagle Marizza into an even better and creepier situation with me, KEEP UP.”
Lujan rants to Marcos that Blas was obviously the one who bought the book before she could get to it — that white-haired lady was probably yet another member of his troupe of traveling actors. Lujan, I love you, but this is kind of your fault for telling Blas your plan. Marcos once again tells Lujan that Blas wouldn’t be getting so shifty if Lujan wasn’t close to the truth. If he bought all the copies of that book, then they must be in his apartment. He tells her that he’ll help her, again, some more. “Why are you doing this?” Lujan asks. “Because I love you,” Marcos says — platonically, of course, but Lujan is all aflutter.
Guido meets up with Not Nicolas Cage in the cafeteria to discuss his dumping of Augustina. Guido BSes that he just doesn’t have time for school and a relationship. Not Nicolas Cage is like, “You’re stressed, I understand. You know what always makes me less stressed? Shooting stuff.” He offers to take Guido hunting with him. Guido’s like, “Not sure I want to hang out with you while you’re holding a loaded gun,” but Not Nicolas Cage is like, “I’ll let you drive the truck,” and for some reason that overrides all of Guido’s concerns. What? It’s just a truck, Guido.
Rocco yells at Vico, again, some more, for not handling her abusive home life the way he wants her to. She snaps at him to let her live and storms off.
Manuel drives to his new job at a restaurant, where he’s working as the valet. Ah, that’s why he had to learn how to drive. He runs into Sabrina in the parking lot, and she chirps that she’s here for moral support — and she’s made him lunch, too! Manuel is all twitterpated by the way Sabrina coddles him. You’re a grown-ass adult, Manuel! Make your own lunch! Also, Sabrina is 500% that girl that posts about being “wife material” on Instagram.
Lujan watches Marizza pack, and she’s like, “As someone who is actually an orphan who’s lived on the streets, may I suggest that this is not a good idea?” Marizza’s all, “I can’t stand living with my mom anymore! I am the only teenager in the world who has ever had a fight with her mom!” Lujan asks what Marizza expects her to say when they inevitably come looking for her, and Marizza’s like, “IDK, if you could just improvise and deal with the consequences of my actions for me as usual, that would be great.”
Lujan brings up that they might let Javier stay after all, so all this drama could be for nothing. But then Javier comes in, wailing that his parents are FOR SURE pulling him out of Elite Way, and it’s all Pablo’s fault! And they have to leave now, before anyone tries to stop them! Marizza and Lujan have the same dramatic parting they always have every time they leave each other for five minutes, and then Marizza and Javier leave together.
Like, two minutes after they leave, Sonia, Papa C, and Martavio come in looking for Marizza. Lujan sweatdrops as Avril Lavigne plays in the background. That’s how you know it’s serious! Lujan BSes that Marizza’s gone out to see a movie with some friend that’s not Lujan, and she won’t be back for a while. The adults leave — cutely, Papa C thanks Lujan and calls her by her nickname, “Luji.” Aw! I live for adults being nice to Lujan!
Pilar is emoing over her mom leaving, and Tomás tells her that they can visit her mom in the south together. Aww, I love them. Pilar’s parents interrupt them and tell Pilar that Mama D isn’t moving to the south after all. They’re still divorcing, but Mama D is going to stay in the city, and they’re going to both try to be there for Pilar. Aw. Everyone in this episode is trying really hard to act mature, and I appreciate it.
Lola asks Laura how things are going with Marcos, and Laura chirps that Marcos told her that he’s only hanging with Lujan out of pity. So everything’s fine! He doesn’t like Lujan, he just thinks that she’s pathetic! Naturally, Lujan picks that exact moment to walk in, and she overhears everything.
Francisco and Feli go to see Amarte duele. Francisco is all snippy about seeing a romantic movie. I don’t remember it that well — I watched it in like, freshman high school Spanish — but I mean, at least two people get shot, so it’s not THAT boring, Francisco. At the theater, Francisco keeps pressing Feli for details about where Mia and Lucas have gone, and Feli’s like, “This is weird.”
Vico goes home and has an awkward dinner with her dad. It gets even more awkward when Rocco shows up with a bottle of wine. Vico’s like, “Don’t do it, dude,” but Rocco offers it to her dad and gets him drunk. Eventually, her dad passes out, and Rocco and Vico sneak out.
Mia and Lucas go on their date, and it just so happens to be at the restaurant where Manuel works. What a coincidence! Mia’s like, “What are YOU doing here?” and Manuel’s like, “I work here.” “Great, can you go park the car?” Lucas asks, throwing him his keys. HEE. I mean, that’s such an asshole move, but Manuel deserves only bad things in life, so I can’t bring myself to care. Then Sabrina pops up, and Manuel’s like, “What are YOU doing here?” again, some more. Sabrina’s like, “I have nothing better to do than waste hours at a guy’s job, stroking his ego.” They exchange barbs, and Mia and Lucas stalk off.
Marizza and Javier are at a train station, buying tickets to run away. Pablo calls Marizza’s cell, and brags to her that thanks to him, Javier is staying at Elite Way. Marizza’s like, “Say what?” and Pablo tells her that Ines and Papa B went to go tell Javier the good news today. A scare chord goes off as Marizza finally, slowly, grasps that Javier might be a lying serial killer. Pablo’s like, “Marizza? Are you still listening?”, and the episode ends there. Dun dun dun!
Then, weirdly, we get a music video for “Que estés“, where they’re all happy to be going on tour together. Show! Read your own room!
