Mia and Marizza spot Papa C and Sonia making out. The parents realize that their kids have caught them, and then they all decide to mutually pretend that didn’t happen. Denial is what keeps us all together!
Anyway, then Marizza and Mia tell Papa C that they need some kind of signatures for the rugby team and Papa C is confused and so am I. I thought they were just going to Papa C and Sonia to complain about the team.
Back at school, Javier’s messing around with the giant plastic watch in Pablo’s room. I hate Javier but you gotta admit, that watch is pretty fucking weird. Pablo calls Papa B to complain that Javier wants to hang out with him, but of course Papa B’s all, “He’s the son I never had! You two ought to get along swimmingly!” Javier offers to leave, and Pablo and Guido gleefully kick him out.
Laura tries to be nice to Lola, but Lola’s not having any of it and storms out of the cafeteria. Marcos is like, “Let me give you some advice, as someone who used to not get along with my sibling, until he died horseback riding under the influence and his death tore my entire family apart.” I don’t know how applicable Marcos’s advice is to this situation, but okay.
Tomás and Pilar relieve Gloria of cafeteria duty, and she basically runs away shrieking “FREEDOM!!” Heh. Rough life, Gloria. Tomás tells Pilar that he has to clear up some things before they start working together: he knows she’s into him, and he doesn’t want to hurt her, but he doesn’t like her like that and she really needs to stop sending him creepy anonymous notes. Pilar’s like, “What?” and Tomás is like, “Please, I know you’re obsessed with me.” Pilar bursts into tears and runs away. Nice going, Tomás. Naturally, Dunoff walks in five seconds later and wants to know how things are going. “Great!” Tomás chirps, knocking over a jar on the counter. Dunoff: “We’re starting off badly, Ezcurra.” Hee.
Sabrina comes back to Elite Way, wearing yet another ugly hat. Manuel sweatdrops when he sees her, but goes over to discuss the band with her. She tells him that her dad is backing off on Erreway now, as there are too many issues with Pablo and his dad not letting him play. Manuel asks her to convince her dad to keep Erreway on, and they’ll work on Pablo’s dad. Mia and Marizza walk in just as Sabrina is patting his cheek. Marizza tries to hold Mia back, but Mia greets Sabrina like they’re old friends. Marizza’s like, “Okay, that’s not how I would’ve reacted, but okay.” Oh, Marizza. We know.
Javier goes looking for Marizza, and coincidentally happens upon Diego and Francisco discussing her. He eavesdrops on Diego wailing about how he could’ve ever fucked up his cheating game so badly.
Marizza and Mia go to the cafeteria together. Mia says she’s cool with Sabrina now because Manuel gaslighted her into thinking that her jealousy was unfounded. Marizza says, “I still don’t like her.” Mia says that she’s so in love with Manuel, she trusts everything he says and does. That’s just the saddest thing I have ever heard. You’re too good for him, Mia! Marizza is a little more jaded at this point, rightfully so, and tells Mia that Diego was cheating on her, ergo, she doesn’t trust men anymore. Mia looks really surprised by this, like it never occurred to her the boys in this school are all a bunch of cheaters.
Then Diego comes in and tries to talk to Marizza. She storms out, so he writes a note and asks Mia to give it to her. Javier watches all of this from the window, for some reason.
Lujan tells Marizza that she thinks Ricardo Fara is Blas’s father. They’re all wondering what to do with this information, when Gloria calls Lujan to Dunoff’s office. Dunoff presents her with a prize for the literature competition, and says Lujan ought to write more stories. Lujan — whose interest in literature has literally never been brought up before now — says she doesn’t want to write again. Blas says she has to, and Marizza and Lujan storm out. On the way out, Martavio grabs Marizza and says he’s thought of a way that Elite Way can get back into the rugby tournament, but they have to work together. Marizza snaps that she doesn’t know if she even wants to help the stupid cheating rugby jocks anymore, and FUCKING MARTAVIO TAKES DIEGO’S SIDE IN ALL THIS. He derps that maybe Diego is really in love with Marizza, and he just didn’t know how to end his other relationship! Martavio, were you watching Diego and Paloma together? Because I was, and that was not what was happening.
Javier sneaks into Marizza’s room like a TOTAL CREEPER and steals Marizza’s binder. Then he cuts out a bunch of words from the binder and traces over them — why did he have to cut them out? Wouldn’t she notice that? — to create a note. The camera work is really shitty and I can’t see what the note actually says from this angle, though.
Marcos asks Laura out. She immediately goes to tattle to Marizza and Lujan, but Lujan says she’s fine with it and tells Laura to go for it. She tells them all of Marcos’s business and how his parents don’t love him and are ditching him here in Buenos Aires, so he could really use a distraction. Then Mia comes in and gives Marizza Diego’s note. He wants to meet her tonight, and Marizza says she won’t go. “Of course you have to go, and tell him what a piece of garbage he is!” Mia says, all indignant. “I never thought I’d say this, but Mia is right,” Lujan says. HEE!
Night falls, and Tomás is spilling his girl troubles to Pablo and Guido. He’s all, “You guys, I don’t LIKE Pilar, but I kind of do, but her dad is the principal, but I want to go out with her, but I don’t want to like, be her boyfriend.” Guido, for some reason, ships Tomás and Pilar — I mean, so do I, but I wouldn’t have thought Guido’d be on that train — while Pablo thinks Tomás shouldn’t date the principal’s daughter. Then Javier comes back, and Pablo reluctantly invites him to the club with them. Javier says he’s not into clubbing, which is code for “I’d rather stay behind and stalk your ex-girlfriend.”
Sol whines to Fernanda that everyone is against her, all for her crime of being too pretty. How Fernanda still puts up with her, I do not know. Feli walks in as Sol is insulting her, and FINALLY has enough backbone to snap at Sol that she was a shitty friend and nobody likes her. Sol tries to get up in her face, but Feli shoves her back. That was pretty tough, for Feli.
Manuel takes Mia to Pablo’s apartment, while “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera plays in the background. Ohhh, I’m having war flashbacks to grammar school. Remember that Rolling Stone cover where Christina was naked and covering up her bits with a guitar? That scandalized the hell out of me and my friends in like the fourth grade. Anyway, Manuel’s taken the time to cover the apartment with paper hearts and rose petals, and it’s incredibly corny but kind of cute. I mean, when I was in high school, a boy once tried to woo me by talking about Dragonball Z all the time, so at least Manuel’s putting some effort in.
Mia’s like, “OMG, we’re so in love! Marizza’s so crazy to think that you and Sabrina have a thing!” Manuel’s like, “OKAY, changing the subject now!” Mia gushes that she knows Manuel would never cheat on her, because they have so much trust and security in their relationship. AWKWARD. That effectively kills Manuel’s boner, and he tells Mia that he can’t do this. Mia starts bawling her eyes out and asking if it’s because of her, and then Manuel starts bawling HIS eyes out and wibbling vaguely about how he doesn’t want to fail her or some shit. They start crying all over each other all, “I’m sorry!” “No, I’M sorry!” and my God, are there uglier criers in history than Felipe Colombo and Luisana Lopilato? It’s terrible.
Feli tells Marizza her plan to use the raffle money to buy clothes and books and stuff for the orphan home. Marizza chews her out and tells her to just donate the money straight to the charity, and they can figure out how to use it. I mean, she’s right, but damn, she didn’t have to go in on Feli like that. Marizza asks Feli to fork over the money, but of course it’s missing.
Vico goes to meet her dad, and she gives the money to him. He tells her that he’s quit his job, and Vico cottons on that he’s going to gamble the money away. Okay, no offense, Vico, but literally everyone could see that coming. He’s like, “How very dare, I am going to use the money for NOT gambling!” and poor Vico wants so badly to believe him that she goes along with it.
Pablo, Guido, and Augustina go to the club. Pablo wants to go inside and find the Uruguayan girls, but Guido’s been bought into Augustina’s plan, so they’re stalling to keep Pablo outside until Lola gets there. She shows up, and Pablo’s like, “What the fuck?” He asks if they can have this conversation tomorrow, but Lola wants to talk it out now. Pablo kind of tries to reject her, but then she plants a kiss on him, and Pablo is weak, like all boys on this show.
Javier’s stalking finally pays off, and Marizza bumps into him in the halls. She whacks him on the back of the head for being a stalky douche, and he immediately starts crying that she hit him on where he got surgery on his head once and OH, HOW IT HURTS, physically and emotionally, man. Marizza feels bad for him. Marizza, he pretended to be blind. I feel like at this point you can disbelieve any ailment he has without being a douche.
Anyway, Javier says he was waiting for his half-brother, Pablo, but Pablo stood him up. He’ll go home now, but he needs someone to go with him, because he’s so fragile and ill. Marizza falls for this. MARIZZA, HE PRETENDED TO BE BLIND JUST SO HE COULD GRAB YOUR BOOB.
Manuel and Mia come back to school. She’s like, “Don’t feel bad about what happened tonight, it happens to all guys!” Yeah, all guys cheat on their girlfriends and then have mental breakdowns during sex. Feli tells Mia that she has bad news for her, and Mia says that it can’t be worse than what happened to her. No, hundreds of dollars for charity being stolen is definitely worse than your boyfriend feeling too guilty to get it up, Mia.
Pilar comes back to the cafeteria, and Tomás apologizes to her for being a dick. PIlar apologizes to him, and says that she does like him, although not in the stalky way that Sol made it sound like. She offers to quit the cafeteria job so that she won’t bug Tomás. Tomás says she doesn’t bug him, because he likes her too, he was just scared of her dad and her nosy, shit-stirring ways. They make out. I wish they had taken a little more time to get together, but this is cute, too. Then Dunoff sees them and is pleased that he has leverage against Mama D now.
Dunoff walks in and interrupts them, but he plays it like he’s not mad at all. “You’re a big girl, and Tomás is a good guy,” he says. Hilariously, Tomás is like, “Me?” Heh. To be fair, compared to some of the other guys in this school, Tomás is an altar boy.
Lujan smugly types away at the computer, “I know you’re the son of a criminal!” I can’t tell if she’s really writing an email to Blas, or if she’s working on a story because Lujan is suddenly a writer now. Blas walks by and wants to know what she’s up to, and Lujan quickly covers that she’s writing a story. She turns the monitor off, and Blas is all, “The computer is off!” because we didn’t know the difference between computers and monitors in 2003.
Mia and Manuel have flashbacks to their trip to the Galapagos and cry over their relationship. I like how they’re focusing on the fun swimming parts, and not the bit where they got stranded on an island and nearly went Lord of the Flies on each other.
The next day, Feli runs up to talk to Vico. Vico is pissy with her, and says she doesn’t want to talk to Feli, because she knows Feli probably just wants to meddle in her life some more. Feli says that it’s important. “What, did you break your diet?” Vico snipes. Jesus, Vico! Feli chooses to ignore that, and says that plenty of stuff is going on: for one, there’s the thing with the money box, and two, Mia was bawling her eyes out last night. Vico, who knows about Manuel’s indiscretion, immediately jumps on that.
Fernanda rocks up to Pilar and Tomás in the cafeteria, and snipes that they seem very into each other. Tomás is all ready to tell everyone that they’re dating, but Pilar wants to keep it a secret. She tells Tomás that she doesn’t want Sol to find out, because Sol is psycho, but Tomás says everything will be fine. Still, he’s okay with keeping it a secret, as long as they can sneak off to make out every now and then. Pilar’s like, “Obviously.”
Marizza’s telling Lujan and Laura all about Javier’s medical condition and how hard his life is. Laura’s like, “He pretended to be blind to make out with you,” because she’s the only person in this school who takes sexual assault seriously. Laura is ahead of her time. Marizza is pissed because Diego stood her up last night, when she went to meet with him. Diego walks in and she confronts him, and he derps that she told him she didn’t want to talk to him. “I got your note,” he says. Ahhh, that’s what Javier was doing.
Vico apologizes to Mia for blowing up at her constantly, and asks her if she’s okay. Mia starts crying that she doesn’t understand why Manuel doesn’t want to have sex anymore. Vico’s like, “Okay, this is really intense, you should probably talk to someone else.” Heh. She tried!
Diego goes to show the forged note to Marizza, but it’s disappeared from his room. Dang, Javier really planned all this out. He swears it was there, and Marizza snaps that she’s never going to believe him again. Pablo walks in on this, and he’s like, “I don’t know what’s going on, but I side with Diego.” Heh. Also, God, I hate Javier for making me like Diego. Marizza’s taste in men is so tragic! Then Papa B comes in and starts yelling at Pablo for leaving Javier hanging last night. Marizza’s like, “He did leave Javier hanging! Javier was so alone!” Why does Marizza do this? I get that she wants to needle Pablo, but she could draw the line at doing it around his abusive dad.
Martavio runs in and tells Marizza that he has an idea about getting Elite Way back into the tournament. Pablo’s like, “Tell me more!” but they kick him out of the cafeteria.
Papa C and Sonia are making out and cooing that Marizza probably wouldn’t take the news of their relationship well — and she’s going through a rough time right now — but Mia will be thrilled that they’re dating. Papa C’s like, “Yeah, I totally have the better kid. No offense.” They’re all lovey-dovey until Sonia brings up that Mia’s also going through a lot right now, what with her totally about to lose her virginity to Manuel. Papa C flips his shit at Sonia bringing it up, and they start fighting.
Hilda interrupts them and says that Mia’s here, and she’s really upset. Papa C has to go hide, lest Mia find out that he’s here. Mia comes in and wails that she has to talk to Sonia about sex. Sonia’s like, “YIKES.”
Elite Way’s plan to get back into the tournament is apparently just to roll up to one of the Uruguayans’ games, and stand on the field demanding the truth. I mean…it’s a noble effort, but I wouldn’t call it organized. You slept on it all night and this is what you came up with, Martavio? Anyway, Etchamendi is at the game stroking the Uruguayans’ egos, and he’s like, “What the hell is going on?” Yeah, someone explain it to me, because I have no idea either.
