Rebelde Way 2×070: Anti-Climaxes

We start where we left off: Vico finds Sol’s letter revealing Manuel’s cheating. Mia wants to know what’s in the letter, but Vico hides it from her, and Manuel lives to have his messy affair another day. Dammit, Vico. She pretends the letter is from her drug-dealing not-boyfriend, and Sol is confused to hear Vico covering for her. As Sol waltzes out, Feli tries to get her to thank Mia for letting Sol be a cheerleader. “Thanks,” Sol snipes. “Why is she so proud?” Feli wonders. “Honestly, I don’t care,” Mia says. She’s in a good mood because she’s just like, thinking about how awesome her relationship with Manuel is, and Vico’s like, “Yikes.”

Dunoff tells Martavio about someone breaking into his office and peeing all over the floor. He wants Martavio to find out who it was, and Martavio’s like, “Well, it was definitely not my dog, that’s for sure!” Dunoff is sure that Marizza was involved — he’s not wrong — and demands that Martavio start his investigation with her. You know, Dunoff probably wouldn’t be that bad of a detective if he would just bother to do his own legwork.

Vico confronts Sol and snaps that she won’t let anyone ruin Mia and Manuel’s relationship, much less over a lie. “It’s not a lie,” Sol says. “Sabrina told me. You can ask her.” Vico’s all, “No puede ser!” and Sol’s like, “Have you MET Manuel?” and Vico’s like, “Okay, maybe puede ser.” Heh. She threatens to beat the crap out of Sol if she tells Mia about Manuel and Sabrina.

The boys come back from their rugby game, all pleased to have kicked the rival rugby guys’ asses. Blas says that they’re going to talk strategy tonight, and the boys are all upset that Blas isn’t going to let them go out and get wasted. I mean…is that not what he would told them would happen when they first started playing?

Over in Marizza’s room, she’s yelling at Lujan for being dickmatized by another guy, again. Kind of. Lujan’s upset that Fake Luciano hasn’t called her, and Marizza’s like, “It’s because he’s a guy, and guys are jerks!” which feels like a weird conclusion to leap to. Like, they know they sent him into Blas’s mafioso headquarters, right? They could be a little more concerned. Anyway, then Laura comes in and asks where Martavio’s dog is. “He’s real comfy,” Marizza chirps, and Laura’s like, “Good, ’cause the boys just came back.” The smile drops off Marizza’s face real fast.

Pablo, Guido, and Tomas go to their room and find Martavio’s dog hanging out on Pablo’s bed. He’s chewed up all of Pablo’s trophies and generally made a big mess, although he hasn’t peed on anything, so consider yourself lucky, Pablo. Marizza comes in to fetch the dog, and Pablo’s like, “What the fuck?” He throws Marizza up against the wall, and the dog starts growling, and Marizza coos that it’s her guardian dog and won’t let Pablo hurt her. Unfortunately for her, it stops being funny after the dog won’t be quiet. Dunoff finds Francisco and wants to talk to him about a note that Gloria left — something about Francisco getting inappropriate with Laura Arregui? Francisco’s like, “Aw, hell no,” but then they’re interrupted by the sound of Martavio’s dog barking. Dunoff barges into Pablo’s room and is like, “The hell is going on here?” Pablo grins like he’s all ready to throw Marizza under the bus, but at the last minute he takes responsibility for the dog. THEN Martavio comes in and he’s like, “Actually, the responsibility is mine!” Damn, guys! Let Marizza suffer consequences for her own dumbass actions for once! Anyway, Dunoff’s like, “Fine, whatever, let me go back to yelling at Francisco.”

Maria Jesus comes by to talk to Lujan. She’s less interested in the part where Blas, a teacher, is stalking and threatening Lujan, a student, and more interested in whether or not her boyfriend’s name is real. Way to look after the children, Maria Jesus. Lujan tells Maria Jesus most of what she knows — that Blas’s real name might be Ricardo Fara, and he hangs out with criminals in his free time — but Maria Jesus stops her, saying it’s all too much. Fetch her the smelling salts!

Vico storms up to Manuel and snaps at him for sleeping with Sabrina. Yes! Destroy him, Vico! Manuel flips out on her, like it’s her fault for finding out instead of his fault for not being able to keep his dick in his pants. They go somewhere to talk it out, and Manuel gets all weepy, begging Vico not to tell Mia — it’ll break her heart to hear it from someone else, and he already feels like trash. “Yeah, you are trash,” Vico says. HEE! Still, she agrees not to tell Mia. Manuel thanks her and puts his hand on her shoulder, and Vico flinches. Manuel notes that she seems to be hurt, but she blows him off and changes the subject back to his love drama: “Be careful. Because if Sabrina told Sol, she could tell Mia, too.” Manuel’s dumb ass seriously seems to not have considered this.

“OMG…do you think like…Sabrina WANTS me and Mia to break up?”

Francisco storms into Laura’s room and yells at her for accusing him of rape/molesting her. He would have a point, except then he’s like, “Why don’t I make the accusations true?” and kisses her before storming out. Why is Francisco so creepy? Are we supposed to be into him? Nothing makes sense.

Sol tells Feli that she knows she wasn’t very grateful to Mia — it’s just that she doesn’t have close friends like Feli, and she doesn’t know how to act! If only she were less beautiful and self-conscious, then maybe people would like her! As usual, Feli’s dumb ass falls for Sol’s pity party, and she assures Sol that she likes her. FELI, WHY. Then Sol’s like, “Oh, by the way, is your friend Vico having violence problems or is she just always like that?” and Feli’s like, “Say what?”

Gloria is out on a date with the Uruguayan coach, who has not put in any effort at all and is wearing the same outfit he wears to school and on the field.  He BSes to her that he doesn’t really even like rugby or know that much about it — he’s just gotten lucky being a coach! Gosh, it sure would suck if a rival team found out that the Uruguayan team had no idea what they were doing, huh? It’s too bad Gloria couldn’t help him out and tell him what Elite Way’s strategy is, that way he wouldn’t look so dumb on the field. Gloria agrees to help him. Stop thinking with your vagina, Gloria! Look where thinking with your genitals led Manuel!

Martavio hustles his dog out of school, and Marizza snipes at him that just because her ransoming of his dog didn’t work, that doesn’t mean she’s gonna give up her investigation. Martavio tells her that yes, there is something weird going on, and he’ll tell her someday, but not today. Probably not tomorrow, either. Then Francisco walks in, and Marizza’s like, “Oh, hey, Fran, sorry to accuse you of sexual assault and all! By the way, it was me, not Laura. And Martavio here can explain it all, bye!” Francisco and Martavio are equally confused by this, as am I.

Maria Jesus needles Blas that they need to talk, and Blas is like, “Hush, silly woman, nothing is more important than my strategy talk for a high school rugby team.” “Really? Because Blas Heredia being a false name seems pretty important to me,” Maria Jesus snarks. Blas gets all nervous and blusters that Lujan is lying, then blows her off. Maria Jesus has the sense to be suspicious.

Blas runs off to go over their rugby plays or whatever the hell, I don’t know, I hate sports. The boys are all overconfident that the rival team sucks eggs, but Blas makes them go over their plays anyway. Gloria hides in the corner and takes notes.

In her room, Mia is trying to think of a cute, rugby-themed note to write for Manuel on game day. She’s so cute! Manuel doesn’t deserve her! Also, I remain confused over this rugby season’s scheduling! Pilar comes in and Mia asks her, because apparently Pilar knows a lot of about rugby (since when?), but Pilar’s all emo over her parents and blows Mia off. Feli comes up with a cute saying for the card, while Vico sits in the corner and doesn’t contribute because she knows Manuel’s a cheating fuckboy now. Mia and Feli turn their attention on her and ask what Tato wrote in the card. Vico’s like, “Uh, he was all, thanks for letting me ditch you in the park while I dealt drugs. Now leave me alone.”

To prove just how over Tato she is, Vico gets out her lighter and is ready to set the letter on fire, but then Sol waltzes in and chirps that Vico’s lying — the letter wasn’t from Tato! Mia and Feli are like, “Okay, who was it from, then?” Sol is ready to spill everything, but then Vico sets her hair on fire. Dang, Vico!

In the cafeteria, Marizza asks Pablo why he covered for her, and he’s like, “Idk.” Then Lola rocks up and gives Pablo a CD, and seeing them together makes Marizza all emo. Lola mentions Sabrina taking promotional pictures of Erreway, and Pablo freaks out for some reason. You’re not even in the pictures, Pablo!

Sol runs to the bathroom to fix her hair, and she whines that Vico really has to be more careful where she points her lighter. Vico’s like, “You dumbass, that was a warning.” Sol’s all, “OMG, you lit my hair on fire on purpose?!” Vico warns Sol that she’s capable of anything, especially to protect her friends. Mia comes in and wants to know why Sol lied about the letter. Okay, this show is just fucking with me now. Sol sees the gleam of violence in Vico’s eyes, and BSes that she was just tired of hearing about Vico’s boyfriend. Mia tells Sol to leave them alone, and once Sol leaves, she rounds on Vico for setting Sol’s hair on fire. Mia is too good for everyone in this school. Mia tells Vico that there’s other ways of dealing with Sol, and Vico snaps that the only way to get what you want is by FORCE. Ohhh, we’re doing a whole thing about how Vico’s dad is making her a mean person. I thought I was just gonna be laughing at Vico scaring the shit out of Manuel 🙁 Mia reaches out to touch Vico’s arm, and Vico freaks out at someone poking her bruise again.

Sonia and Papa C are happily cuddling and macking on each other over breakfast, until Sonia brings up Martavio. She mentions that he keeps trying to tell Marizza that he’s her father, and he’s always trying to push Sonia to agree by saying that they can’t hide it forever. Papa C’s like, “Okay, he’s not wrong,” which Sonia is not at all pleased to hear. Aaaand they’re arguing again. Hilda’s having breakfast with them, and she bails right on outta there. Hee. Sonia correctly points out that Martavio’s had no involvement in Marizza’s life so far anyway, to which Papa C points out that even so, Marizza’s growing up under the lie that Spirito is her real father. Sonia’s like, “Uh, don’t talk to ME about raising my daughter under a lie,” in case you’ve forgotten that Mia’s mom is alive and Papa C’s been lying about that, right after he lied about her mom leaving him. Burn, Papa C!

He knows it, too.

Marizza tells Lujan that she can’t stop thinking about the whole mystery with Martavio — she muses that Sonia must be mixed up in it somehow, since she keeps going back and forth on whether or not Marizza should investigate, and Marizza’s only walked in on Sonia and Martavio arguing like eighty times by now. Slowly it dawns on Marizza that the whole mystery around Martavio must be about HER. Yes, Marizza. For once, it really is all about you. So what could this mystery be about this guy who’s old enough to be your dad, who knows your mom, and who seems weirdly obsessed with you? Marizza? Marizza?

Sol runs off and tattles to Rocco, of all people, about Vico setting her hair on fire. She says that she thinks Vico’s picked up some unsavory habits from Tato, and she wants Rocco to talk her down. Rocco’s like, “This is weird,” but simultaneously can’t resist the prospect of getting all up in Vico’s business.

Over in Dunoff’s office, Martavio cleans up all the mess and apologizes for the whole thing with the dog, and Marizza, and Laura, and Francisco. And also for Marizza in general. Dunoff rants that he’s had it up to here with Marizza, and Martavio’s like, “Yikes.” He leaves, and Blas comes in. He tells Dunoff that, like, everyone hates Maria Jesus on account of her being a cheer-tator, and Dunoff really ought to fire her. What the fuck, Blas!

After Blas, Pilar comes in, because it’s just a regular carousel of visitors in here. She asks if he and Mama D are going to work things out, and Dunoff’s people pleasing habits kick in. He’s all, “Of course we are! I know your mom said she wanted to get a divorce and all, but her opinion doesn’t count for anything in this marriage, so that’s not gonna happen.” Poor Pilar is all happy to hear it.

Manuel confronts Sabrina about telling Sol that they slept together. He snaps at her that he thought she was a good person, but apparently he was wrong, which he would’ve known if he got his head out of his dick twenty episodes ago, but whatever. He tells Sabrina that he never wants to see her again, and Sabrina loses her shit, because I guess she was really banking all her happiness on Manuel leaving Mia for her? That’s pretty sad.

In the cafeteria, Lujan’s ranting that they have to destroy the Uruguayan rugby team. Oh, look, it’s Lujan’s personality trait of being a tomboy, I had almost forgotten about that. They chat a bit about rugby, but then Sonia shows up and says that she got Marizza’s message. Marizza nervously asks Lujan and Laura to leave. Or…Marizza, you could have this meeting somewhere that’s not a crowded cafeteria, you feel? Anyway, Marizza tries to bluff Sonia by saying that she knows everything, but Sonia bluffs right back all like, “What do you mean, ‘everything’, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Marizza gives up and admits that she still doesn’t know anything, but SHE WILL!

Gloria doesn’t show up to work, and Hilda promptly loses her shit. Gloria has nothing to live for besides work! If she hasn’t shown up, something terrible must have happened! Dunoff’s like, “Whatever,” so Hilda runs off to investigate herself. Then Mama D shows up, and Dunoff shows her the check he got from Papa B. He’s like, “So we cool now, right?” and Mama D’s like, “This whole thing literally started because you took money from Papa B, so no, not really.” She tells him that he’s weak and doesn’t have any morals, which isn’t untrue, but like…wasn’t she the one that only cared about money? Weren’t we supposed to get that vibe in season 1? I don’t know anymore. Anyway, Mama D tells him that she wants a divorce.

Gloria’s off at the rugby field, giving all her notes to the evil and not really that hot rugby coach. He thanks her and tells her that he thinks she’s super pretty. “You’re so beautiful that it hurts me to look at you sometimes,” he says. It hurts me to look at Gloria, too, because she’s so damn thirsty. Even still, she turns away when he tries to kiss her, and rambles that she hasn’t been on a date in such a long time. The rugby coach asks her out, and she accepts.

Manuel and Mia are hanging out together, being romantic, and by “romantic” I mean “gross.” She tells him that she thinks Vico’s hiding something, to which Manuel starts choking on his cookie. Suffer, Manuel! Pablo and Marizza rock up, and Pablo tries to yell at them for not telling him about the photos, but then Feli shows up before he can really get going and cuts that whole confrontation short. This show has no sense of pacing at all. Feli gives Mia an envelope from Sabrina, and Manuel freaks out that it might be a letter owning up to their affair. He tries to wrestle it away from Mia, but he can’t, which is really sad when you think about it. She’s like a twig! Anyway, Mia hangs on to the envelope. She also folds it in half, which seems dumb, since she thinks they’re photos.

Manuel passes Marizza a note, asking her to get that envelope from Mia by whatever means possible. Marizza goes along with it, because she is weirdly loyal to Manuel despite all evidence that he is a terrible person. Marizza picks a fight with her, and slips the envelope out of her pocket while they wrestle. Is Manuel worth this, Marizza?!

She gives the envelope to Manuel, and warns him that he’s fucking up his relationship with Mia. “What you and Mia have happens once in a lifetime,” Marizza says. Sadly, Marizza, I think you’ll find that teenage boys being douchebags and taking advantage of their girlfriends happens every day. Anyway, Manuel takes the envelope and scrams. Mia comes storming up and wants to know what the hell that was all about, and Marizza says that she needed to get Mia out of the classroom so that Mia can help her with her parental mystery. Mia agrees, because she’s too good for them all.

Manuel opens the envelope, but all he finds are the photos and a goodbye note from Sabrina, with zero mention that she and Manuel slept together. And now he feels like a dumbass, as he should. He goes to call Sabrina (way to stay away from her, Manuel), but she’s not at home, and he’s all shocked by whatever her parents tell him.

Mia goes to spy on Sonia, and overhears her and Martavio talking. Martavio refers to “our daughter”, and Mia’s like, “HOLY SHIT.” Wow, just think, Marizza probably would’ve solved this mystery much sooner if she had just eavesdropped on her parents instead of wasting her time kidnapping dogs. Mia goes to tell Marizza what she discovered: “Promise me you’ll take this calmly,” Mia says. What? Marizza’s never done a thing calmly in her LIFE, Mia.

Thank you for updating!! With your updates I know what’s going on in this show.

So did Vico agree not to tell Mia because Manuel said he’ll fess up to Mia himself? Or was it for another reason?

Vico burning Sol’s hair… Yikes. Not OK at all.

i think it was something like that – manuels dumbass whined and cried to vico about how “he had no idea how it happened” so she agreed not to tell mia

      1. Em Avatar

Yeah, pretty much, he just was so whiny and pathetic about it that Vico agreed not to tell. She says some weird stuff about how she knows how girls in love are, so I guess she also thinks Mia won’t believe her.

        Thanks for reading!! 🙂
