Happy post-Christmas, dudes! Or Happy Boxing Day, if you do that. I hope you all had a great holiday season, and that you didn’t get stuck between the doors on your city’s public transit like I did on Christmas Eve.
Previously on Rebelde Way: Lujan is totally over Marcos, and she is never going to talk to him again! Oh, wait, now something terrible has happened to his mom, and Lujan’s all, “MUST MEDDLE!”
Marcos goes to the hospital with his dad, and the doctor’s like, “Yeah, your mom still doesn’t give a fuck about you. She did want to know about a girl, though.” Marcos realizes that his mom was asking after Lujan. Man. That feel when your abusive mom prefers both your ex-girlfriend and your dead brother over you.
Meanwhile, Lujan runs off to meet with Marcos’s mom. Wait, what happened to his mom? She looks fine. Anyway, Lujan convinces Marcos’s mom to talk to him, and so Marcos goes off to talk to her, and…we don’t get to see that, I guess.
Back at school, Marizza storms around looking for Lujan, but no one knows where she is. Then Martavio interrupts her, and drags her off to the art room. He’s being all weirdly needy about how he wants to know what she thinks of him, and does she think he’s a good teacher, and does she like his art class, and hey, would he make a good father? Marizza’s like, “Ugh, it’s so annoying how teachers think their subject is actually important. None of us care about art, we just care about all the drama going down in this school constantly.” Martavio then proceeds to completely rip Marizza apart, about how she whines constantly about everything that happens here, but she never fights to fix it — look how easily she gave up the student council position! Marizza does not like that at all, and Martavio quickly backpedals that he just wants to talk to her more and get to know her better, but Marizza’s all, “How dare you call me a poser!” and storms off. Don’t be sad, Martavio! You weren’t wrong!
Outside the classroom, Marizza promptly runs into Sonia, and she’s like, “What’s up with you, I know you have been acting weird.” Sonia BSes that it’s because she broke up with Andres, and Marizza’s like, “Whatever, you didn’t like him that much.” Hee. Then she spies Martavio walking by, and bitters that she can’t stand him. Sonia’s like, “You can’t stand him? That’s great news!” and Marizza’s like, “Oookay.”
Tomás is all salty with Pablo and Guido for telling him about Sol. They both think it’s time for REVENGE!, but then Sol comes in and starts making out with Tomás, and the boy is weak, so very weak.
Blas comes in and sees Maria Jesus, and starts flashbacking to Etchamendi telling him that he needs to get laid. She’s whining about how she needs to form a team for the girls like Blas did with the rugby team, and Blas offers to help her. With his penis.
Carmen tells the class that they’ll have a test tomorrow, and everyone starts whining that they already have a test in another class, and they can’t have two tests on one day! That’s too much work! College is going to hit these kids like a scooter to the ankle. “But when are we going to study?” Pilar whines. Uh, maybe you could use that time that you guys are gossiping/sneaking out to go clubbing/making out under the stairs? Marizza takes the opportunity to try and overthrow Pablo: he can’t get them out of their homework, so they deserve a student council president who can! Viva la revolución!
Meanwhile, Guido’s slowly been working on taking apart Pablo’s phone. What? I call bullshit. I bet Guido barely knows how to dial back. He finds the little chip Papa B’s been using to tap the phone, and is all like, “Uh, Pablo? Pablo?” but Pablo’s too busy ranting about how he’s gonna kill Marizza.
Gloria and Hilda are all hype that Sonia went out for dinner with Papa C. They’re all, “Tell us more! (Like, does he have a car?)” Sonia admits that it went well, and Hilda’s like, “Woo! I ship it!” and Sonia’s like, “Don’t be silly, it will never happen!” Hilda’s like, “But I’ve already written the fanfic!” Martavio walks by and overhears them shipping Papa C/Sonia, and gets all salty.
Marcos and Lujan come back to school. Lujan BSes to him that she was out doing stuff that was totally unrelated to him and his mom. Marcos’s dumb ass buys this, but he tells her that he got to talk to his mom, and Lujan’s all, “OMG, really, tell me everything!” Marizza swoops in to save Lujan from herself, and she’s all, “Lujan doesn’t care about you or your relationship with your enstranged mom! Bye!”
Mia tells Sol to back off of Feli, snapping that she knows that Sol planted the idea about Manuel and the cheerleaders in Feli’s head. Then Tomás rocks up and says he and Sol have to talk, and drags her off to break up with her. He says he’s met another girl, and you know, dating just one girl is cramping his style, because he’s always been a player, you feel? Oh, Tomás, you’re so sad. Sol starts crying that he can’t do this to her when she gave up so much for him! “I rejected half the boys in school for you!” she wails. She was half a virgin when she met him! Tomás says he knows she’s cheating on him, and Sol starts blubbering that it’s so HARD being so beautiful, because people spread such lies about you! Tomás is like, “That’s true,” and doesn’t break up with her. Poor dumb Tomás.
The rest of the girls are…randomly having cheer practice in the stairwell, because why not. Sonia comes up and chirps that they can practice more today, and all the girls start whining about their grand total of two tests. Sonia’s like, “Okay, I guess you have to study,” and that’s that. This scene was unnecessary.
Pablo and Guido go to Ana and they’re like, “Tomás is breaking up with Sol at this very moment!” I bet he’s not. So if she could help them cheat on the test tomorrow, that would be awesome. Pablo has a plan — and let’s be real, a Pablo plan is only marginally better than a Guido plan — and it’s needlessly complex, as with all things Pablo comes up with. I can’t be fucked to describe it, just trust that it’s stupid. They’re all like, “You should go along with it because we’re getting Tomás to dump Sol, and then he’ll go out with you!” But then Tomás comes in and he’s all, “Sol is a pure angel, how dare you guys lie to me!”
Papa B wants Etchamendi to do something shady with the school funds, but Etchamendi frets that someone will find out. They should make Dunoff do it instead! That way if something terrible happens, they don’t have to care!
Blas and Maria Jesus come into the classroom, and tell the students that they’re going to devote the rest of the day to PE. The kids all protest that they have to study, and really, that’s fair. Besides, the cheer coach said they could practice tomorrow. “I didn’t say anything,” Maria Jesus says. Oooh. “Sonia Rey is the coach,” Mia says. “No, chiquita, I’m the coach,” Maria Jesus snaps. OOOOH. Blas and Maria Jesus waltz out, and all the kids start fretting over what to do.
Vico’s dad comes to the school, and poor thirsty Gloria falls all over herself at the sight of him. Raise your standards, Gloria. Rocco spies on Vico while she and Mia are studying. Gloria tells Vico that her dad is here, and even though Vico tries to get out of it, Gloria and Mia convince her to go meet with him. Rocco runs in to the classroom and tells Mia to go with Vico. For once, this show actually manages to build dramatic tension, by cutting between Rocco telling Mia to go find Vico, and Vico going to meet her dad. Vico’s dad begs her to come back — she refuses, and he gets all threateny that he’ll pull her out of Elite Way. Mia finally cuts in, and Vico’s dad leaves, but not before telling Vico to think about what he said. Mia tries to talk to Vico about what happened, but Vico blows her off.
Ana frets to Marizza that she doesn’t know if she should help Pablo cheat or not. They betrayed her on the whole Tomás thing, and also his plan sounds a little bit bullshit, and also how the fuck is she going to get together a whole literature test by tomorrow, but on the other hand, she has no spine, so how can she say no? Marizza tells her to go ahead and help them, because Marizza also has a plan.
Etchamendi and Papa B call Dunoff to a meeting. Dunoff’s like, “What could it be? Gloria, what do you know?” “Are you insinuating that I listen behind doors?” Gloria says, all indignantly. Then: “Okay, well, I didn’t hear much.” HEE! But then the fourth years come in all, “We have some demands to make, for great justice!” Dunoff’s like, “You guys, now is not the time.” Etchamendi comes out from the office, and he’s like, “Do I hear the sounds of rebeldía?” The kids are like, “You certainly do!” They insist that they don’t have enough time to study, especially with Blas imposing his last-minute PE class on them. Fair enough, actually. Dunoff, Etchamendi, and Papa B all face off against them, and Dunoff finally blusters that they have to go to their rooms before he punishes them all. Marizza’s like, “We’ll never back down!”, except everyone starts moving away behind her. Heh. These kids are not loyal.
Dunoff switches tacks and tries to blame the scholarship students. Mia comes in and backs Marizza up, saying it’s a decision made by everyone, not just the poor kids. Even Sol defends them. Papa B finally cuts in and says that he supports the kids having time to study — so they should study today, and sports practice should be moved to Saturdays. All the kids protest, even though plenty of extracurriculars take place on Saturday. They’re like, “We didn’t want you to agree with us like THIS!”
No one is too happy with Marizza, but they’re even more mad at Pablo, for completely ditching them. Pablo needles Marizza for making things worse. Marizza’s like, “At least I’m not spineless like you! I wonder if your dad’s proud.” And then Papa B comes up and says, “Son, I’m so proud of you!” Heh.
Rocco swings by and makes fun of Guido some more, and they almost rumble, then they don’t. Tomás is like, “Dude, what’s your damage with Guido?” and Rocco mocks Tomás for defending him: why would he stick up for a friend like Guido? After all, Guido’s not a very good friend to Tomás, what with hiring a guy to seduce Sol and everything. Tomás is like, “What the fuck? How would you even know about that?” “I know everything,” Rocco creeps.
Manuel sits down with Pablo and he’s like, “Man, it’s kind of fucked up that you didn’t stand up for any of us back there.” Pablo tells him that in this school, everyone has to look out for themselves. This makes Manuel all sad. Whatever, Manuel. You don’t have to go here! You’re like twenty years old!
All the kids gather again to talk over their situation. Fernanda immediately jumps on Marizza for speaking without thinking: “Right, Marcos?” Marcos is like, “Um, um, well, I think you both have very good points, and I mean, I’m mostly agreeing with the girl who lets me get to second base, but also Marizza is my friend, so,” and Marizza’s like, “Dude, grow a spine.”
From his office, Dunoff watches everything on his TV — which is suddenly in black-and-white — and cackles that everyone’s turning on Marizza. Then Etchamendi and Papa B walk in, and tell Dunoff that they need him to sign some checks, on their behalf. Dunoff is hesitant, and Etchamendi and Papa B lean on him all mafioso-style until he agrees. Yikes.
Meanwhile, Sol is still dicking Feli around. Feli admits to Sol that she told Mia that Sol was the one who said Manuel didn’t want Mia to join the cheerleaders (goddamn that is a complex sentence). Sol chirps that this doesn’t change their friendship, and Feli’s like, “OMG, Sol, you are so giving of spirit and generous of personality.” LOVE YOURSELF, FELI. Sol tells Feli that she needs a favor: she wants Feli to go tell Tomás that Sol didn’t cheat on him, and that Sol is in love with him, and then Feli has to go dump Mateo for her. “Uh, is that true?” Feli asks. Sol: “Duh, of course not.” Feli says that doesn’t think this is a good idea, but she’ll do it anyway, for Sol. Oh my God, have some principles, Feli.
Maria Jesus picks a fight with Sonia about the cheerleading practice. She snarks at her that Sonia doesn’t make the rules, Maria Jesus does, because it’s her squad. Sonia storms off to go yell at Dunoff about this, but he’s in a meeting, so she has to settle for fighting with Martavio. Martavio tells Sonia that Marizza’s having an emotional crisis.
Manuel tells Mia that he wants to “study” with her at Pablo’s apartment. Mia comes armed with her books and binder, while Manuel stretches out on the floor all, “Sooooo…you wanna…do something else?” Mia eventually gives in and they start making out, but she panics when Manuel tries to take her top off. Again, some more. Mia cries that she’s not ready, and Manuel’s like, “But, but, I totally thought you were ready! Even though you’ve already told me that you aren’t! Repeatedly!” He starts whining at her that sex is beautiful and natural and she shouldn’t be ashamed. Oh, this is like the exact speech from Spring Awakening! Run, Mia! Mia says she’s not ashamed, just not ready. Manuel very grudgingly accepts this. Jesus, Manuel, if sex is this much of a dealbreaker for you, then just break up with her and date Sabrina instead of constantly telling Mia that it’s fine, and then trying to pressure her into it five minutes later.
Marizza rants to Sonia about how everyone betrayed her, and Sonia gives her an inspirational speech about how strong she is. Blah blah she’s so rebelde blah and Sonia’s so proud of her. It’s cute, but it happens like every other day, so whatever.
Feli tells Tomás that Sol’s still in love with him, and she totally didn’t cheat on him (“Keep it down!” Tomás bleats), so everything’s fine. Tomás is like, “Cool,” and wanders off. Feli tells Sol that it looks like everything went over well, but when Sol tries to sweet talk Tomás later, he snaps at her that he knows she cheated on him. He never wants to see her again! Would these kids quit saying that? YOU GUYS LIVE TOGETHER.
Oh, look, it’s Sabrina, popping up in the last ten minutes of this episode. Her dad is channeling Nico and Tatiana’s dad all, “Erreway is so good, but only if there are four of them! THERE MUST ALWAYS BE FOUR!” Sabrina tries to convince him to kick Mia out, but her dad’s like, “FOUR! FOUUUUURRRRR!!!!!”
Marizza and Pablo show up to rehearsal first, and take the opportunity to start fighting with each other. Marizza needles Pablo about standing up to his dad, and fighting for great justice and all that. She snarks that he’ll end up being a corrupt politician just like Papa B, and Pablo insists that he’s going to be a musician. Marizza’s like, “Uh huh, sure. You’ll never fight for what you want, because you don’t know how.” Pablo snaps that he totally is independent — he pays for this whole apartment by himself! Oh, and here’s the landlord right now, to collect the rent, which Pablo will pay himself. Except not, because Papa B’s already paid it for him. Marizza’s like, “What were you saying about being independent?” Pablo snaps that if he’s so irritating, why was she into him last year? Marizza says it’s because she feels a need to take care of weak people, but now she realizes that she didn’t love him after all. Pablo’s all gutted by this.
Sonia thanks Martavio for telling her that Marizza needed help. Is he watching out for Marizza because he liiiikes Sonia? Martavio’s like, “No, I did it because Marizza’s my daughter,” and Sonia’s like, “Oh. Right.”
Feli goes to some cafe looking for Mateo. His friends are dicks to her, but Mateo comes to her rescue. Feli is all twitterpated by him. Oh, dear.
Sabrina catches Manuel walking around by Pablo’s apartment, and offers to give him a ride. Yeah, I bet she does. He tells her about his relationship woes, and Sabrina says, “Can I be honest? From the start, I thought she was too immature for you. You need a real woman,” and then she kisses him. Manuel’s dumb ass kisses her back. THE WORST.
