So despite half the characters getting personality transplants this season (most of them for the worse), we found ourselves back in familiar territory at the end of the last episode: Manuel creeping on Mia, sneaking up behind her while she’s unaware that he’s even in her house. The more things change, etc. Mia freaks out that he’s right behind her, as you might, and shrieks that he must be here to spy on her.
Manuel makes himself comfy on the couch and blithely tells her about his suspension, while Mia shrieks her head off that this is her house, not his. So we’re basically back where we were in season 1 with these two. I guess it’s better than watching him try to coerce her out of her pants all season. That said, this is kind of Mia’s own fault for having so much faith in her high school relationship that she agreed to let Manuel move in. She snaps at him that he needs to stay on his side of the house (wherever that is), and they’ll just ignore each other. Manuel’s like, “Sure, sure, whatever your boobs say.”

Marizza rocks by Pablo, and he takes the opportunity to needle her about how she can’t stay out of trouble. Maybe it’s her new, rebellious hairstyle, eh? Marizza snarks that she’d rather have white girl dreads than horns like Pablo. Oh snap! “No girl makes me wear the horns,” Pablo snaps, which is weird, because is that not what happened with him and Vico all the way back in season 1? Whatever. Marizza snarks at Pablo that it’s 3 PM, does he know where his girlfriend is?

Sol’s at the comic book convention with Rocco, Feli, and Rocco’s friend who’s not nearly nerdy enough to be here. I can’t believe they didn’t invite Marcos along. Rocco asks how she’s liking it, and Sol shrugs that the people are kind of weird, but it’s not so bad. Aw! My kingdom for Sol lowkey being a nerd, although I’m sure that’s not where this is going. Then Pablo rocks up and yells at Sol, although he doesn’t explicitly call her out for cheating, maybe because that would be embarrassing. Instead he’s like, “How dare you do this to me! You, here, doing this thing that I do not like!” Feli and the other guy (Alex, it sounds like?) are like, “Awkward, peace out,” and hustle off to somewhere that’s not here. Heh. Rocco doesn’t get what Pablo’s damage is, and Pablo vaguesnaps at Sol some more before storming off. Sol and Rocco are like, “Whatever.”

Bianca’s mom comes by the school with supplies for Bianca’s workshop, and Dunoff’s like, “What workshop?” Uh-oh. He’s like, “Ah, I see, Bianca lied to you, the way all children do.” “My daughter doesn’t lie!” Mama Bianca bleats. Dunoff’s like, “What are you, new?”
Vico goes to see her dad about her housing situation, and he blusters that her mom didn’t talk to him about this beforehand. Vico’s like, “Well, she didn’t exactly warn me that she was about to leave me homeless, so we’re both struggling here, buddy.” Papa Vico frets that he doesn’t have any room for her in his giant-ass house, and Vico finally snaps, “What, do you want me to live on the street?” Papa Vico loses all the parenting points in the world for his response, which is just to shrug and be like, “Idk.” Vico threatens to go to a judge and tell them that Papa Vico’s neglecting her, and he finally says he’ll think about it. “Think fast,” Vico advises.

“Should I turn my 15-year-old daughter out onto the street? Gosh, I just don’t know.”
Marizza and Lujan discuss Marcos’s fall, and Lujan is all emo that she can’t see him. Marcos’s dad is supposed to call her as soon as they have news, though. Spoiler alert: he doesn’t.
Fernanda goes to yell at Tomás for not accompanying her to the horse show. Oh, the indignity of not having a plus one at the biggest event of the Season! The ton will surely cut her now! Tomás snaps that he doesn’t care about mingling with high society, and if that’s all that matters to Fernanda, they should break up now. Fernanda’s all pissed that Ana’s made Tomás less shallow and less weak-willed. Wow, is Tomás, of all people, the character undergoing the most positive development in this season? I’m both pleased and unsettled by this.

Lola, Bianca, and Laura all come back to school. Francisco’s not with them; no word on whether or not he’s still stuck under that bus by the lake. Lola tries to threaten Laura into spilling which boy she was with, but Laura’s sick of Lola’s crap and tells her to fuck off. “I have something that’ll cheer you up,” Bianca says, and shows Lola the Elite Way keychain she found. Wait, but if they have the key, how the hell is Francisco going to get back? Whatever. Lola realizes that they just have to find the key’s owner, and that’s their guy.

Back at the butcher shop of Adorable Parents and Sons Who Do Not Deserve Them, Papa Guido wants to know why Guido’s hiding from his friends. He suggests once again that real friends won’t care how rich Guido is or isn’t, and that money doesn’t buy happiness. Guido’s like, “Of course it does!” Then he adds, “Do you know why I’m unhappy? Because I’m poor. Know why I’m poor? Because of you.” Oh, fuck off, Guido.

Bianca runs into her mom in the office, and Dunoff blows her story about a class workshop wide open. Bianca’s mom is all, “Did you lie to me? But you would never! You are too well-bred!”, because sometime between seasons, Elite Way became a haven for members of the British aristocracy circa 1820. Bianca’s mom wants to believe that Bianca’s been introduced to unsavory habits by ruffians, but Bianca’s like, “No, I was ~rebelde~ all on my own! This is who I am, mom!” Mama Bianca gets all threateny that they’re just going to forget this little episode, and from now on, Bianca’s going to do what she says.

Sol and Rocco come back to school, and Sol rather cutely apologizes to Rocco for Pablo making a scene. I really like Rocco and Vico together, and I know this show will make Sol an unredeemable villain, but dammit, Sol and Rocco are actually pretty cute. She goes off to her room, and then Pablo comes up and demands that Rocco answer for stealing his woman. Uh, if Rocco managed to steal your girl, maybe that’s a sign that you’re doing something deeply wrong, Pablo. Pablo throws Rocco on the stairs and starts beating him up, and Marizza has to break up their fight. Dunoff comes up and says that as fighting is not an admirable quality in a student council president, whoever started it is going to be disqualified from the race. Fair enough, actually.

So Pablo, Marizza, and Rocco all get dragged to Dunoff’s office, but of course Marizza decides to cover for Pablo, claiming that they were putting on a play — a play where a guy discovers that his girlfriend is banging another dude, and then they fight! Of course! “Do you actually expect me to believe that?” Dunoff asks, and for a brief moment I thought maybe he was getting wise to these kids’ antics. But then he gets distracted by the plot of the play, and starts shrieking his head off about how he must stop this “HORMONAL AVALANCHE!” that’s overtaking the school. Hee! He decides to start with Rocco, because anyone with painted nails is clearly a deviant, and drags him off to un-goth his look a little. Pablo and Marizza are left alone, and Marizza snaps at Pablo that she only covered for him because she wants to win fairly, not because he was disqualified. Pablo’s like, “Whatever, you liiiike me.”

Alex and Feli are having fun hanging out, and he tells her that he thinks she’s super cool and pretty. Feli’s like, “Naw, me?” Alex wants to keep hanging out, and volunteers to come with Feli to visit Mia, or at least walk to her to the door. Feli keeps shooting him down, for some reason. He likes you, Feli! It could not be any more obvious! She gets her shit together enough to say “yes” when he offers to call her, at least.

I’m just now noticing this, but what’s up with his arms?
Laura fantasizes about making out with Francisco, and confesses to Marizza about her shady agreement with him. Laura thinks she might still like Francisco for real, but either way, she can’t date him, on account of Lola — and if Lola finds out that Laura was already out with Francisco this weekend, she’ll be pissed and tattle on Laura to their mom. Marizza, as ever, has a madcap solution to Laura’s problem: she should just invent a fake boyfriend! It’s working out so well for Lola, after all.

Sol tells Pablo that she only hung out with Rocco at a nerd convention, which was not sexy at all and therefore not a date. She offers Feli up as a witness, and calls her to tell her to come back to school and convince Pablo. Feli’s over at Mia’s, and she has to make up a BS excuse to leave. Mia walks her to the door and they pass Manuel — Mia is pissed just seeing him, and of course Feli’s like, “OMG, Mia, why are you so mad at him? Yeah, he kept trying to push you to have sex with him, and he dicks you around emotionally, but he’s a really good guy!” I swear to God, Mia’s friends are useless. Anyway, in the five seconds it takes Mia to walk Feli out, Nulieta shows up at Casa Colucci and jumps Manuel’s bones. Damn, Nulieta, love yourself.

Guido…wanders sadly around the city? What is he doing? Whatever, I don’t really care. He ends up going back to Elite Way, and bursts into Pablo’s room wailing that he has to help him — Augustina wants Guido to meet her dad, and Guido doesn’t want to, so if Pablo could help hide Guido, that would be gr8. When did this happen? Whatever, I don’t care (again). Pablo’s like, “So…we’re just pretending that you didn’t lie to me and Tomás for the past three days or what?” Guido gets all contrite and says that he wants to apologize to them and tell them the truth now.

Despite trying to get Mia out of her pants for at least 20 episodes that I had to sit through (send help), Manuel is actually pretty uneasy with Nulieta trying to bang him on Papa C’s couch. She whines at him that she just wants to make out with him REAL BAD, and then he’s like, “Oh, okay,” and they go back to making out, so basically this entire scene was unnecessary. For some reason, he says they have the house to themselves, which is blatantly untrue. Naturally just as they’re getting down to it (the shoes come off!), Mia comes back in. Manuel and Nulieta manage to hide, but they leave their pile of clothes in the living room.
In the cafeteria, Francisco tries to talk to Tomás about his girl problems — Tomás still thinks Francisco shouldn’t be getting serious with any of the girl at Elite Way; Francisco’s all, “Laura’s not like those other girls!” I can’t say I care very much about Francisco’s girl drama, but I care even less about Guido, who rocks up with Pablo to apologize to Tomás.
Sol thanks Feli for covering for her with Pablo, and they bond some more as Sol manipulates Feli under the guise of being her new bestie. Poor Feli 🙁
Papa Vico does the absolute minimum and decides to let Vico move in. New Wife is overly snippy and huffs that their infant child is used to having his own space, like the kid even knows where he lives. Then, I guess in an effort to make all the adults in Vico’s life terrible, Papa Vico gets all abusive and starts threatening that if she can’t deal with Vico living with them, he’s going to make her deal with it, if she’s getting his drift. The baby starts screaming his head off, and Vico walks in. Papa Vico calms down and tells her that she’s coming to live with them — Vico’s pleased that her dad gives even a modicum of a shit about her, but is also weirded out by the disturbing scene she walked in on.

Guido confesses everything to Pablo and Tomás; predictably, they don’t care that he’s poor, they just care that he lied to them, because they thought their friendship was real, man. Guido tries to pay Pablo back, but Pablo doesn’t want the money anymore. What? Pablo, he still stole like 200 pesos from you! Anyway, Guido asks them to keep his low birth a secret — somewhat weirdly, he mentions that his family is poor again, as though they were ever rich to begin with. I mean, I guess at some points they implied they were kind of new money (and they lived in that big-ass house) but Guido was always lowkey trying to get out of paying for stuff and making a fuss over money, so I did not get the vibe at all that he was supposed to be rich. Whatever. Anyway, Pablo and Tomás think that he should set himself free and tell everyone the truth, but they agree to keep his secret.

What prompted Guido’s change of heart, anyway? Did he see something inspirational when he was running around the city at night? I’m gonna assume that he did, but if you think I’m gonna go back and willingly rewatch a Guido scene just to confirm, you are dead wrong, my friend!
Then Sol rocks up and has Feli confirm that nothing happened with Rocco. Pablo’s like, “K, whatever,” and then he, Tomás, and Guido are like, “Bros before hos” and go off to bond over hating women or whatever.
Fernanda and Belen creep out of the shadows like total weirdos, and Belen’s like, “Tomás doesn’t seem too broken up over your relationship, are you sure you dumped him?” and Fernanda’s like, “Of course I, Fernanda, 17th Viscountess Byron, First of Her Name, dumped him!” Then she gets a call from some high society lady, inviting her and Marcos to tea, and Fernanda’s like, “Who needs Tomás?”
Francisco waltzes into Laura’s room and says their weekend isn’t over yet. Marizza saves Laura by swooping in and saying that Laura’s boyfriend is calling. Francisco hunts Laura down later and wants to know about this boyfriend, who Laura claims is named…Mauro (nicknamed Mumi? That’s a stupid nickname and I won’t be using it), because every third guy on this show is named Mauro. She BSes a whole ton about this supposed boyfriend, and claims they’ve been dating for years. Francisco flips his shit that Laura was leading him on, which is kind of fair because they genuinely dated for about five minutes there. He storms off and Laura feels all bad. Eh, don’t feel that bad, Laura. Francisco needs to learn to back off.
Manuel and Nulieta hide out in Mia’s room. Making out on your ex-girlfriend’s bed? That’s low, even for Manuel. Nulieta keeps trying to get Manuel to sex her up, but he’s like, “Ew, you actually want to have sex? I much prefer to guilt my girlfriends into sleeping with me!” And then, of course, Mia walks into her own room. I don’t know why they were expecting her not to. She starts shrieking her head off and shoving them out of the house, which, honestly — I don’t blame her at all. That was gross.

Marizza is still reading that Rodin book that Martavio gave her. It’s like 60% pictures, Marizza! It’s not hard! She starts to get her rant on, but then she realizes Lujan is being emo over Marcos. Lujan sniffles that she hasn’t heard anything from his family, and Marizza’s like, “Just go force your way into his house and talk to them face-to-face, duh.” Honestly, it’s alarming Lujan hasn’t come up with that herself yet. She’s really losing her touch.
Over at Marcos’s house, he’s conscious and seems fine, although unhappy over his crazy mom. He and his dad sit down to have a talk about her, and his dad explains that his mom has a form of dementia, and she must not have taken her meds when she escaped from the clinic. Marcos wants to see her anyway, but his dad shuts that idea down.

Tomás and Guido decide to celebrate their renewed friendship by going to the club, and they invite Francisco along. Sol also wants to go to the club, but Pablo blows her off and says he has to stay in and help Guido lick his wounds. But Guido just suggested…oh my God, these two need to get their communication together. Anyway, Feli rolls up and tells Sol about her not-date with Alex. She starts freaking out that he’s not going to call or that he’s changed his mind in like the four hours since they’ve seen each other. Sol’s like, “Oh my God, chill out,” and goes off to get Alex’s number from Rocco, so they can call him and calm Feli down.

While he’s gone, Mia calls Feli, crying over Manuel and Nulieta. Mia wants Feli to come comfort her now, but Feli lies and says that she’s at her house, and her parents won’t let her go out. She promises to come see Mia tomorrow. Why doesn’t Mia just go back to school? I mean, Manuel’s not even allowed to set foot there while he’s suspended, so that’s the one place she could guarantee avoiding him at.
In the background, Pilar’s been eavesdropping on this entire conversation. Damn, Pilar, how many inspirational speeches does Marizza have to give you before you learn?

Back at Casa Colucci, it starts to storm. Manuel calls Mia begging to be let back in the house, as he doesn’t have a jacket or anything. “A bath might do you some good,” Mia snaps at him. Hee! Then she launches into a bizarre dream sequence of Manuel dancing with Nulieta, and then she and a bunch of other girls come in with plastic guns and Mia replaces Nulieta under Manuel’s umbrella, and it makes as much sense as any of the other dream sequences, which is to say none at all. Theory: these dream sequences are determined by them digging a bunch of costumes out of storage and trying to get one last use out of them.

Sol calls Alex and gets him to say that he’s definitely, positively going out with Feli tomorrow. Aw, that’s nice of her. (Yeah, yeah, I know she’s evil. But she’s so charming! Dammit, I want to believe.) Feli’s like, “Omg, I can’t believe we’re doing that thing that he said we were going to do!” Pilar waltzes in and sees them together: “Oh, am I interrupting?” “Yes,” they snap at her. Heh. Pilar’s all pleased to confirm that Feli’s hanging out with Sol behind Mia’s back.

Meanwhile, Mia’s yanking the sheets off her bed to throw out. I don’t blame her, I would probably burn them too, just to be safe. Her phone rings and the music gets all creepy, and not gonna lie, for a second I thought it was gonna be Blas all like, “I’m watching you through your window” or some shit. But no, it’s Pilar, who’s like, “It’s 10 PM, do you know where Feli is?” For some reason, Mia doesn’t recognize the voice — goddamn, Mia, you only live with her — and Pilar creeps that Mia should come back to school to see how Feli’s betrayed her.
Lujan goes over to Marcos’s house, and walks in on him having wacky funtimes with Fernanda. The betrayal!
