Opening line: We all have to help each other, even if we don’t want to. Reaching out to other people is the only way to grow as a society.
So when we last left off, Tomás of all people came up with a plan for Pablo to win Marizza back. Pablo’s supposed to meet Marizza in the sad trailer to talk about him returning to the band, but — gasp, shock! — Simon shows up instead. He snarks that it’s cute that Pablo’s trying to fight for his love and all, and he wishes him luck, but Marizza’s never going to get back together with him. She likes Simon now! Pablo’s like, “I know the opening credits haven’t been shown in a while, but you know you’re not in them, right?” Marizza shows up and Simon condescendingly leaves them to it. Pablo agrees to play the Gran Rex if Marizza gives him another chance to date her. Marizza agrees. Wow, that was easy.
Feli’s date with Camilo goes well, and they agree to meet up tomorrow. Mia and Luna roll up, and Mia asks how Feli’s date with Marizza’s cousin went. “What cousin?” Luna asks. Uh-oh! Mia drags Feli off to give her all the details, leaving Luna behind to look perturbed. Feli’s dad interrupts her dishing to Mia to yell at her for sneaking out. He wants to meet Camilo, and Feli’s like, “My God, we haven’t even had a second date yet.”
In the cafeteria, Nico and Manuel wonder how Blas found out everything about Manuel. Did…Manuel not tell his mom to stall Blas by telling him everything? For some reason, Manuel’s like, “No way he got it all from my mom.” Okay, if you say so. For some reason, Manuel thinks his only hope is for Mia to go back to dating Blas, so Blas will get off Manuel’s back. Seriously, why does everyone make these plans that hinge on Mia putting herself in the path of a sex offender? She’s too good for all of them.
The next day. Mansilla somehow is trying to convince Gloria that he wasn’t talking shit about her, because…she thought he was? When did that happen? Well, whatever. Hilario walks into the office with flowers for Hilda. Because see, after being told repeatedly that she wasn’t interested, he’s like, “I just have to work harder to win her over!” Mansilla’s like, “What a good idea!” Shut up, you two. Hilda walks in and sees Gloria with the flowers, and snarks that she hopes Gloria enjoys them. Mansilla’s like, “Hilda’s jealous! That means she likes you! Even though she’s said repeatedly that she doesn’t!”
Pablo hits on Marizza in class; Nico and Manuel are like, “Not now, man, we have to focus on our impending fame and fortune!” Marizza assures them that she’s cool with Pablo’s advances, leaving them confused. Manuel gets all up in Mia’s face and tells her to deny that she and Manuel are dating OR ELSE! I can’t believe Manuel managed to fuck up his relationship more quickly than Guido. That’s hella embarrassing.
At the theater, Sonia is still trying to wheedle info about Mama C out of Peter. They’re interrupted by Nacho, which made me scream in horror. Why can’t they send him to boarding school? But not like Elite Way, like another boarding school that doesn’t have its own show. Also, Pepa is all salty that Peter’s replacing her in Sonia’s affections. I don’t know who to root for here, they’re both equally incompetent!
Mansilla tells the kids Pilar is coming back to class. Was she ever kicked out to begin with? Anyway, she’s back just in time for the end of the year, and for their final project! I like how there was never any indication of months changing or events happening to show that we were approaching the end of the school year. I feel like Elite Way is some kind of purgatorial hell, where time has no meaning and you just find yourself repeating the same drama and sanctimony day in and day out. BUT ANYWAY. The final project is for the kids to get Hilario and Hilda together. Wait, so if they respect Hilda’s wishes and don’t force her into a relationship with Hilario, they…fail sophomore year? What the hell? “Are you sure we heard that he was leaving?” Vico whispers to Guido. Marizza predictably overhears this and flips out.
At Casa Colucci, Papa C’s all emo over Peter leaving him. Then Mercedes tells him that Blas is on the phone for him, like his day can’t get worse. Papa C’s like, “I need Manuel’s stalking skillz!” and heads off to Elite Way.
Mia tells Blas that she’s not going out with Manuel. “But then why did you leave me?” whines Blas. “Because you’re a creep and seriously need to go to jail or at least date someone your own age,” Mia doesn’t say. She ends up crying all over him about the letter from her mom, and how confused she is. Then Sonia and Peter show up. Oh, good, everyone’s just gonna reconvene at school, then. Sonia says Peter can explain the letter, and Peter says he was the one who sent it. Say what? There’s a bizarre interlude of Gloria fussing around the books until they kick her out, and finally Peter explains that Mama C wrote it when Mia was born, to be given to her when she turned 15. Jesus, Peter, we could’ve avoided so much drama if you’d gotten off your ass and given it to Mia yourself.
In the cafeteria, all the girls puzzle over Mansilla leaving the school. “Well, if he likes another place better, then he’s gonna leave,” Feli opines. All the girls are like, “A school better than Elite Way? IMPOSSIBLE!” I mean, Elite Way is the only school that would let Mansilla get away with forcing two teachers together as a final project, so he really shouldn’t test his luck. Then Marizza storms in and starts reaming Vico out for…asking Guido about a rumor that they both overheard. Vico shrugs that she heard Mama D mention it, and Marizza starts getting her sanctimony on about how Vico doesn’t know the truth. Again: Vico literally whispered the rumor to Guido, the only other person who was there to overhear it. She’s not spreading it around the school at all. Actually, Marizza’s the one spreading it around by yelling about it in front of the entire cafeteria. Pilar offers to eavesdrop on her parents, but Marizza snarls that she’ll do it herself. She’s so unnecessarily aggressive about this whole thing.
Feli frets about introducing Camilo to her parents, and Luna follows her out of the cafeteria. Feli confesses that she doesn’t want her parents to know that she’s dating a waiter (the horror!), and Luna’s all offended. She’s like, “You have to fight for your love!”
Marizza goes to ask Mansilla if he’s leaving, and he weasels his way out of answering: “How can I leave so close to the end of the year?” he asks. Marizza takes that as a no, and hops off all happy. Renata’s like, “Wow, way to lie to your students.” I was hoping she’d make a crack about ethics, but she doesn’t.
Pablo can’t keep his mouth shut and brags to Simon that he’s taking Marizza to dinner. Simon’s thrown off guard for half a second, then Papa B shows up and drags Pablo off, and Simon’s like, “At least my dad doesn’t abuse me! Ahahaha!” Nevertheless, he gets his insecurity all over Marizza: “Your history with him isn’t over,” he says. Nope! There’s 200 episodes left, Simon! (Please kill me.) He eventually accepts that Marizza will have to go on a date with Pablo, and she marvels at how mature he is. Because he’s like a college student, Marizza. A college student who spends all his time hanging around a high school, for some reason.
Outside, Papa B tells Pablo that he wants him to be at Papa B’s event, coincidentally on the same day that the band is playing. Papa B says that he’s going to bribe someone to let him have the Gran Rex, so Erreway will have to play elsewhere. Pablo’s like, “Yikes.”
Sonia and Peter walk and talk about how they didn’t want to lie to Mia, but it was the only way! Oh, are we saying that Mia’s mom didn’t write that letter fifteen years ago? GOLLY, I WONDER HOW IT GOT HERE, THEN. Mia rocks up and enlists Sonia in helping Hilda and Hilario get together, because if there’s anyone who loves to steamroll over other people’s wants and feelings, it’s Sonia.
Nacho shows up to school, but tells Marizza he can’t hang out with her, as he’s doing something “very important.” Is it disappearing into the ether where the background characters go? Please, God. Nope, it’s actually messing with Sonia’s car so Peter can’t drive it, because Nacho is on Team Pepa about this whole thing. I mean, if I had to choose, that is not the team I would be on.
Anyway, Papa C runs into Peter in the parking lot, and they have an awkward exchange. It’s always hard right after the breakup. Papa C suggests that Peter come back and work for him, on account of Sonia being crazy and all, and Sonia rolls up and starts shrieking her head off about how dare Papa C steal her chauffeur, and this whole thing is Mercedes’s fault, blah blah blah. Because she’s not crazy.

Mercedes calls Papa C and tells him that the maid was told to pack up Mia’s things so she can move to Sonia’s house. Drama! I guess. I’m so over this, you guys. Papa C confronts Mia and Sonia, and Mia snips that since Papa C never gave her Mama C’s letter, she doesn’t want to live with him anymore. Sonia has the grace to look ashamed by this. Then…bizarrely, it cuts to him thanking her for covering up about the letter? Look, I don’t know. He still doesn’t want Mia to move into Sonia’s house, and Sonia gets in a jab about how everyone Papa C loves is always leaving him. That’s low. Then Marizza rolls up, and Sonia defends her decision to take Mia in. “Then congratulate me,” Marizza says. “For what?” Sonia asks. “I don’t know, but congratulations,” Papa C says. HEE! Marizza says that she’ll move into Casa Colucci, and Papa C cheerfully welcomes her. Man, I do enjoy Papa C and Marizza together, I think because they tend to gang up on Sonia when she’s being ridiculous.
Sonia brushes Hilario’s hair, and they’re like, “Now you’ll definitely bring Hilda to the yard!” I mean, did they bother to fix his creepy, pushy personality at all? Then the boys come in to give Hilario a makeover, by which I mean they basically put him into the same uniform they’re wearing.
He’s pretty much just dressed up as Tomás.
Mama D talks Pilar into going to see a psychologist, and Pilar asks her if Mansilla’s really leaving. Mama D confirms, but makes Pilar promise not to tell anyone. So…the entire school is going to know within the next five minutes.
Mia flounces off to brag to Marizza that they’re going to be roomies. Hee! I don’t know if my enjoyment of Marizza’s discomfort weighs out my irritation of Mia’s behavior, but it’s still funny. Then Feli, Camilo, and Feli’s dad all rock up at the same time; Mia takes it upon herself to introduce Camilo. “He’s Marizza’s cousin!” she chirps. Marizza’s like, “Say what?” while Simon cackles. Simon’s such an enabler, and he’s a total douche to everyone who isn’t Marizza. Why doesn’t he have anything better to do than follow a high school girl around? Anyway, they leave Feli, Camilo, and Feli’s dad alone, and Feli and Camilo BS that he’s a distant cousin of Marizza. Feli’s dad buys it. Camilo’s all like, “You lied because you’re ashamed of me!” I’m confused. Did Luna or Marizza or someone not shuffle Feli off by saying Camilo was Marizza’s cousin? Whatever. Camilo says he never wants to see her again. He’s taking this kind of personally, for a second date.
Hilda thinks Hilario’s makeover makes him look pathetic. She’s not wrong. The boys ask how it went, and Hilario’s like, “Badly, as always.” They’re like, “Wow, maybe Hilda really doesn’t appreciate having Hilario foisted on her. Maybe we should let her make her own life decisions.” Just kidding! They’re like, “We’ll just have to try harder!”
Papa B and Pablo kick back after a long day of taking photos and kissing babies. When Papa B leaves the table, Pablo steals his phone and deletes all his messages. Papa B’s like, “Huh, I was supposed to hear about the situation with the band today.” Except then he gets a call on his other cell phone and finds out everything with the band anyway. So that was pointless. Pablo tries to convince Papa B to go to another theater, but Papa B’s like, “This is the greatest injustice I have ever suffered!” He tracks down Papa Tatiana’s club to try and find out more about Erreway. Papa Tatiana’s on vacation, but the janitor guy helpfully remembers that Sonia Rey was repping the band. Uh, I thought their manager was Nico? I guess it would’ve been less climactic if the guy was like, “Oh yeah, their rep was this clingy weird teenager who has them play like one song at a time.”
Pilar tells all the girls that Mansilla is leaving for real, then Marizza snaps that it’s not true. Nobody believes Pilar over Marizza, and Pilar runs out of the cafeteria. Well, they’re gonna all feel like dicks. All the boys come in and say they have to move to Plan B, which involves using Gloria to make Hilda jealous. The girls try to rope Gloria into their madness. Unsurprisingly, she doesn’t really wanna pretend to be the girlfriend of a septuagenarian. Mia BSes that they’ll pay Gloria in a date with Hilario’s hot younger nephew. Gloria, sadly, agrees to this.
Nico is passive-aggressive and pissy with Luna until she tells him that she’s forgoing the trip to Disneyland to go on vacation with him. Man, that is not a fair exchange. Love yourself, Luna. Nico runs off all twitterpated, and Luna overhears Feli crying. Feli tells her that Camilo ditched her because he realized she was embarrassed by his job. Luna thinks they can still work it out, but Feli wails that she’s just going to be alone forever. But she legitimately thought he was Marizza’s cousin…? Oh my God, nevermind.
Nacho tries to make Peter think that Sonia’s going to fire him. I literally can not think of a more boring set of characters. Nacho, Peter, Sonia, and Pepa? It’s like the character equivalent of paint trying.
Nobody asked for this.
Gloria loudly invites Hilario to a club while Hilda’s in the room, and tries to needle her over it. “Doesn’t he look nice?” she asks Hilda. “Pathetic and ridiculous,” Hilda snipes. BURN. The boys are all like, “She’s playing so hard to get!” Their girlfriends should all dump them.
Manuel keeps trying to ask Mia if she told Blas that they weren’t dating, and she keeps blowing him off. Eventually he corners her, but then Papa C walks in on them. Manuel tells Papa C that Mia broke up with Blas, and Papa C’s like, “Excellent news!” I feel that, Papa C. He’s so relatable in this episode. Anyway, then Blas rocks up and tells Papa C that he found out something VERY INTERESTING in Mexico. Manuel’s like, “Yikes.”
