Rebelde Way 1×126: Do Not Pass Go

Opening monologue: We have to confront reality, and be strong enough to face our fears.

So Mia and Manuel finally owned up to their UST and made out. It fades out into her recounting the night to Vico and Feli, all twitterpated. Feli tells them that she’s decided to give her ticket to Luna as well, and Mia squeals. Everything’s coming up Mia! Everything’s coming up Feli, too, as she managed to attract the attention of Marizza’s cousin last night. As we all know, attention from boys is the most important thing in life. Back to Mia’s love life: she sighs that she doesn’t know what she’s going to do, but she’s all in love with Manuel again.

Over in Manuel’s room, Nico is whacking his roommates’ beds with a bat to wake them up. Jesus Christ, Nico. Don’t punish them just ’cause you were the only one who didn’t get any last night. Lujan comes in and says that she and Marcos have to go for a walk and exercise and all that horrific stuff that I personally avoid with all my being. Marcos agrees with me, which makes me think that he might be my dream boyfriend. Lujan just picks him up and carries him out of the room. HEE! God, I love them.

Nico and Manuel talk about the party last night; Nico’s like, “Honestly, I kinda wish you didn’t want to stab Colucci in the face, because he seems cool.” Manuel’s like, “Yeah…he’s really nice and his daughter is super hot.” Nico’s like, “Maybe he didn’t kill your dad?” and Manuel’s like, “Stop saying words.” He’s all emo over not hating the Coluccis anymore, and decides that if he doesn’t find proof that Papa C killed Papa Aguirre, he’s just going to peace out of Argentina and leave them behind. He doesn’t want to see them again, ’cause it would be hella embarrassing for him if he left behind his friends and family and repeated 10th grade all for nothing. (Hey, he said it, not me.)

At Casa Colucci, Peter’s all like, “Omg, how is Mercedes, I am BEREFT that I had to leave her in the woods!” Papa C’s like, “No, Peter, I am sure you had nothing to do with leaving her there and are innocent of all accusations!” Mercedes storms in and yells that Peter planned the whole thing with Sonia, and if Papa C doesn’t fire him, Mercedes is going to move out. Peter’s like, “Nah man, this is too much drama. I’m quitting.”

I mean…Mercedes is telling the truth, though. I know she’s evil and a telenovela villain and all that, but it’s stupid that we’re still supposed to be against her here. To quote the Witch from Into the Woods, “I’m not good, I’m not nice; I’m just [still] right.”

Anyway, back at school, Marizza’s hanging out with Guido for some reason. Why doesn’t she love herself? Then Simon rocks up and shows Marizza the booking for the Gran Rex. Erreway’s show is sold out! The Gran Rex wants to book them again! I’ll remind you that the Gran Rex is one of the largest venues in Argentina. I like how Erreway has somehow become the biggest band in the city without any of their parents or classmates noticing. They start making out, and then Papa B rolls up. He’s like, “What are you two doing, trying to swallow each other’s tongues?” He’s not wrong. Papa B wants them to tell Pablo he’s here, and Marizza’s like, “Nah bro.”

Pablo’s still in his room, being emo over Simon and Mariza. Tomás, helpfully, is like, “Yeah, Marizza’s totally crazy about him.” Heh. Pablo’s like, “No way, I’m her designated love interest, and I know it.” He insists that Marizza’s just going out with Simon to get over him. I mean…he’s not wrong, but dial back that ego there, Pablo. Pablo admits that he’s in love with Marizza, and Tomás is like, “No way, I did not see that coming!” Poor dumb Tomás.

Feli comes by to cutely tell Manuel how happy she is that he and Mia are having a thing. Manuel insists that Mia was just drunk, and Feli’s like, “Mia hates alcohol, it’s bad for her skin.” Manuel’s like, “So she wanted to kiss me? OMG.” Like she hasn’t been pining all over him for the last ten episodes. Come on, man.

Luna excitedly tells Nico about her trip with the girls (it turns out they’re going to Disneyland), and as usual, Nico’s incapable of being happy for his girlfriend. Whatever, Nico! It’s not like she’s moving away permanently! He tells her that his family is going away for vacation as well, and he wanted to invite her to come with him. Uh oh! I wonder who Luna will choose!

Mia’s still trying to get dressed, all worked up over what she should wear to see Manuel. Aw! I mean, it’s incredibly pathetic of her, but she’s so cute. Someone knocks on the door, and Mia freaks out that it’s Manuel. Of course, it’s not: it’s Blas! Surprise! Mia won’t let him kiss her on the mouth (good for her!), and he’s immediately all pissy that she’s not excited to see him. Mia tells him that his trip gave her time to think, and she doesn’t want to date him anymore. “I only love you as a friend,” she tells him. I wish she’d yelled at him for being a creepy predator, but I’ll take what I can get. Blas immediately realizes it’s because of Manuel, and he’s like, “I can’t believe you would rather date someone your own age instead of a pervy yard teacher!”

Some actual clever framing! What a rarity.

Papa B wants Pablo to do more campaign-related stuff with him today, and on his way out, he stops to get a dig at how he saw Marizza playing tonsil hockey with Simon, which bums Pablo out. Never stop being a dick, Papa B! Since he won’t be around, Pablo enlists Tomás to follow Marizza everywhere and confirm what she’s doing with Simon. Because after all, when in doubt: stalk the person you like.

Manuel comes to see Mia, and Vico tries to keep him out of the room. She’s no match for Manuel’s pushy, stalkery ways, and eventually is forced to admit that Blas is in there with Mia. You can just see on Manuel’s face that he’s jumping to the most dramatic conclusion. Ugggh, I bet I’m going to have to watch Mia and Manuel fight for another ten episodes now.

In the cafeteria, all the girls talk about how many hot guys were at the quince. Where were these guys, huh? All I saw was Manuel, Pablo, and creepy Simon. (The girls needle Vico for agreeing that there were hella hot dudes, and she snarks, “Looking is one thing, is another to, you know, touch.” HA! Oh, Vico, you can still do better than Guido.) Sonia, Marizza, and Simon all roll up, and the girls ask Sonia what she did to get rid of Mercedes. Marizza for some reason gets all upset by Sonia meddling, like she’s not the head meddler of Elite Way. Feli gets a call from Peter, wanting to tell Mia that he’s leaving, and Sonia’s like, “Whoops, my bad.”

Speaking of meddling: say hi to Mansilla! He and Renata talk about the party, and Mansilla tells Renata that she looked very nice last night. Renata’s all twitterpated; I can tell because Avril Lavigne starts playing over the scene.

She goes to find Mama D and asks her to convince Mansilla to stay, seeing as they have a ~history~ and all. “I have a history with Santiago? Who told you that?” Mama D asks. Renata’s like, “Awkward” and runs away.

Vico tells Mia that Manuel was crazy jealous when he found out Blas was in her room; they squeal that Manuel must like Mia as much as she likes him. Manuel comes to see Mia, and he gets all passive-aggressive and pissy about Blas. He snaps at her that this is the last time she messes with him and storms out. Wow, I think they lasted even less time than Guido and Vico the first time around.

Marizza takes Simon to the sad trailer and complains about her mom. Simon’s like, “Stop saying words, I’m just here to make out.” Then Tomás runs in and JUMPS ON BOTH OF THEM. HEE! I love him. He’s like, “What up, nice jacket, where’d you get it?” “Brazil,” Simon says. “Well, you know, Brazil’s pretty big. Did you get it in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro…” Oh, Tomás. The rest of Erreway, sans Pablo, comes in, and Simon and Marizza tell them about selling out the Gran Rex. Tomás points out that Pablo can’t do it, on account of his dad. Then he suggests that only Marizza will be able to convince Pablo to perform. Damn, was that Tomás actually managing to be slick?

Pablo comes along with Papa B to meet the owner of some theater. Papa B wants to rent the theater to hold a campaign event, so he can tell everyone that he wants to make Argentina great again. The theater owner’s like, “Sorry, we’re booked, ’cause Erreway is playing.” I’m sure you’re shocked! Whatever, they can’t have Papa B’s rally afterwards? Erreway only has like three songs to play.

Marizza’s cousin-slash-waiter (I think his name is Camilo?) comes back to the school, and Feli agrees to go out with him. He seems like a nice enough guy, even though his voice is really whispery. Project, bro!

Nico brings Luna a bunch of statistics and he’s like, “Did you know that this many people DIE in airplane crashes every year? If you go on vacation with Mia instead of me, you’ll die too!” Shut up, Nico. He sees Manuel come into the cafeteria all pissed off, so he runs off to go placate him. Sandra’s like, “Luna, do you ever think your boyfriend’s a bit touched in the head?” Heh. Luna tells her that she’s in a pickle: Mia invited her to Disneyland, but Nico wants her to go with his family to San Clemente. Sandra’s like, “Fuck San Clemente, Disneyland is the SHIT, son!” I’m just sayin’, Nico can’t compete with the happiest place on Earth. Also, Disneyland has Dole Whip.

Nico’s all like, “I can’t believe Mia went back to Blas!” and Manuel’s like, “Me either!” Well, if you don’t believe it, maybe don’t be going around accusing her of doing it, Manuel. Then Blas comes in and needles Manuel that he found out some very interesting things about the Aguirres while he was in Mexico. And he’s going to make Manuel regret taking Mia away from him! Manuel’s like, “Wait, what?” Blas is like, “Yeah, she told me she was dating one of her classmates and not letting me perv on her anymore! It was some bullshit!” Manuel’s like, “Whoops.” Blas gets all threateny that he knows Manuel’s secret, which makes Manuel freak out. Yikes. Poker is not his game. Blas cackles at Manuel’s panic, and says he’s going to dangle what he knows over Manuel’s head until the time is right to bust his cover.

Papa C gives Mercedes her surprise, which of course is not a ring. It’s a bracelet, and she’s all like, “The fuck?” Then she quickly pretends to be happy, they complain about Sonia some more, etc. Sonia herself comes storming in, and she and Mercedes start fighting, as usual. Sonia accuses Mercedes of sending the letter to Mia, which Mercedes denies. Do you think maybe these events will teach Marizza and Sonia something about doing irreversible things with no evidence? Pfft, of course not. Papa C kicks Sonia out, and she self-righteously excuses herself. Peter shows up to escort her out, and she chirps that Peter works for her now. Love yourself, Peter.

Feli tries to sneak out by leaving with the caterers, but Renata busts her. “Go back inside, you’re punished,” Renata says. “Okay,” Feli says. Then she runs out the door anyway. Hee!

Also, her sweater is super cute.

Renata calls Feli’s parents to tell them that Feli snuck out of school. Mansilla overhears her and gets all snippy that Feli could’ve had ~reasons~ for sneaking out, and Renata shouldn’t tell her parents until she gets the story from Feli herself. Uh, Mansilla, Elite Way is a boarding school. The school is responsible for Feli when she’s not at home, so yeah, they’re required to inform her parents when they don’t know where she is. Even at non-boarding schools, you know, for plebes, schools have to inform the parents if the student skips class or is otherwise not there when they’re supposed to be. The sanctimony in this episode is killing me. Anyway, Renata changes the subject, and snaps at Mansilla for making her think he had a thing with Claudia. Mansilla’s like, “Why do you care? Is it ’cause you liiike me?”

After getting Mercedes stranded in the woods, yelling at her, and hiring Peter out from under Papa C, it occurs to Sonia that maybe Mercedes didn’t send the letter after all. She wonders who could have done it, and Peter’s like, “Well, that is a thing that I definitely do not know.” Sonia cottons on that he knows more about Mia’s mom than he’s saying.

Simon’s all salty that Mia will have to talk to Pablo about the band, but she convinces him that it’s no big deal. They make out yet again. Tomás tries to cockblock them, but then Luz shows up all pissed that he ditched her last night. She fake-slaps Tomás and half-heartedly pushes him to the ground, and she deadpans, “And you’ll never go out with me again.” Man, this girl is not a good actress.

Manuel comes in and yells at Mia for telling Blas that they were dating. Because when Blas told him that he and Mia broke up, it somehow did not occur to Manuel at all that Mia broke up with Blas to be with him? OH MY GOD, MANUEL. He yells at Mia for using him as an excuse to dump Blas, and now Blas has it out for him more than ever. MANUEL IS THE WORST. Everyone at this school does Mia so wrong, man.

Pablo comes back to school panicking that his dad can never find out about Erreway, and Tomás tells him that he got Marizza to talk to Pablo about the band. They’re going to have to meet tonight, in the trailer, alone…Pablo is all pleased by this. I can’t believe Tomás of all people is the one coming through in this episode.

Mercedes and Papa C come to the school to tell Mia that Mercedes didn’t write the letter. Mia’s still angry at her, and is all, “Did you forget that she told me about my mom?” I mean…was Mercedes excessively cruel in how she told Mia about Mama C? Sure. Did she lie to her at all? No. I’m just sayin’, everyone’s reactions to Mercedes don’t match what she’s actually done at all. Mia and Mercedes both overdramatically cry and yell at each other. “If it wasn’t Mercedes, then who was it?” Mia wails. The scene cuts to a hand stroking an article about Mia’s quince in a magazine. “She looks so pretty,” a woman says. Who could this mysterious woman be? I WONDER.

Night falls on Elite Way, and Vico meets up with Guido. He’s all whiny that she spent the day with Mia instead of him. Cry more, Guido. He’s also concerned about Mansilla’s love life, for some reason, because he noticed Mansilla and Renata were acting weird. He and Vico see Mansilla go to talk to Mama D, and they spy on the conversation. Mama D asks if it’s true that Mansilla’s leaving the school, and Guido and Vico are SHOCKED.

Pablo waits in the trailer and lights some candles for Marizza. Aw, Pablo. Sadly, Simon shows up instead and he’s like, “I knew you were trying to get with my girlfriend!” Nobody cares, Simon.
