Opening monologue: It’s okay if you fuck up, because every step we take makes us more mature. Forgiving people is the only way to live. Hmm, I’m not sure Marizza will see it that way.
We pick up where we left off, with Pablo confessing his love for Marizza. Meanwhile, Avril Lavigne wonders why we’ve gotta make things so complicated. Pablo asks Marizza to be his girlfriend, through sickness and health, till death do them part, et cetera. She shoots him down, but then changes her mind: “I’m a really complicated girl,” she says. I see what you did there, show! I must admit, of all of them, Marizza is the most likely to want to “crash the mall.” She babbles on about how things were before between them, and Pablo’s like, “But I don’t remember anything about you!” LIES. Anyway, he says he loves her and she says it back. The music switches from Avril Lavigne to “Dos segundos” and they make out. Pablo winks at Tomás, then he and Marizza leave the club and make out some more.
Mansilla drags Renata out onto the dance floor. She gets into the dancing, then realizes people are watching her (duh, Renata, you went to a club full of your pupils) and runs away. Mansilla follows her and is like, “You ran away because you have hidden pain! AND I WILL TRY TO FIX YOU!” She says she was just embarrassed at dancing like that in front of her students, and Mansilla’s like, “You’re lying! You must have some kind of deep dark secret I can help you with!” He eventually gets it out of her that she was rejected by the Etchamendis (being illegitimate), but then she snaps at him to stop meddling in her life. “Why don’t you focus on your own life instead of mine? I have a boyfriend and a project. What do you have?” Oh snap!
Tatiana rocks up to Vico and Feli and asks where Nico is. They don’t know, and she goes off to whine to her dad. They still have that computer weirdly placed on the bar, by the way:
The guy in the foreground is just as confused as I am.
Tatiana begs Mauricio to get Nico to the club in whatever way possible, and he agrees. A better dad would remind her that she’s 15 years old and will have other boyfriends, but then again, this is Rebelde Way.
Back at school, Lujan asks her tutor to come see her. Lujan confesses to Manuel that she’s scared, and he’s like, “No worries, I’m with you!” That wouldn’t comfort me at all, but alright. She’s freaked out over her tutor being mixed up with Blas and Angelita, and Manuel’s like, “Whatevs, it’ll be fine.” Comforting! They meet up with Luna and Nico and tell them about what they’ve discovered, then Lujan runs off to wait for her tutor. Gloria comes in and tells Nico that Mauricio is on the phone for him, and whines that she has to answer the telephone on top of all her other duties. Uh, you’re kind of the receptionist, Gloria. Of all the things you do at this school, answering the phone is one of the few that is actually your job. Manuel stays behind to hear what Mauricio has to say. Luna’s like, “Aren’t you gonna go with Lujan to meet her possibly evil tutor?” and Manuel’s like, “No, my teen pop band is more important.”
Papa C and Mercedes come back from dinner, and she tries to convince him that canceling Mia’s quince was the right thing to do. He muses that he thinks she might be having a party after all, and Mercedes is confused: how is Mia going to have a party if Papa C won’t pay for it? Then she realizes Sonia must be behind it, which they’re both as happy about as you would expect them to be.
Lujan confronts her tutor about him knowing Angelita, and he gets all threateny about how she’ll be sorry if she doesn’t tell him everything she’s been up to. You know, Lujan’s life is pretty horrific, when you think about it. She has absolutely no adults looking out for her, and her guardian is mixed up with something shady and threatens her with bodily harm. She’s like a Baudelaire orphan. Not-Tutor gets violent and tries to drag her off with him to his orphan-murdering dungeon or wherever, and finally Manuel swoops in and saves her. He threatens to call the the police, and Not-Tutor immediately backs down and starts begging them not to. What a fail villain. Manuel tells him to go get Blas, and Not-Tutor runs off with his tail between his legs.
Also, they’re still running ads for the Erreway show, even though it was the ~very last weekend~ to see it like, ten episodes ago.
Mauricio tries to get Nico to come to the club, but Nico shoots him down. Tatiana’s not happy at all. Then Mauricio presents the next part of the competition, where all the girls parade around in bikinis. I guess it’s a beauty pageant or something. Why is this going on at the club? Mauricio’s starting to seem kinda pervy to me. Anyway, Vico and Mia realize Guido’s disappeared, and Vico feels all guilty. Then Feli runs up and tells them Blas had to leave, to deal with a “family issue.” She and Vico look to Mia for answers, but Mia doesn’t know anything about Blas’s family. Vico’s like, “Does that not strike you as a little weird?”
There’s some wacky hijinks of Papa C sneaking into Sonia’s room and trying on one of her wigs while he waits for her. He accuses her of helping Mia with her party, they get into another shouting match, he tells her to stay away from Mia and threatens her with Mercedes’s lawyer skillz if she doesn’t. Ha! When was the last time Mercedes even went to work? Last I checked, she spends all her time macking on Papa C and making evil telenovela villain faces.
Then they get all up in each other’s personal spaces, as usual.
Blas shows up at school, and reveals that Not-Tutor is just another person hired by Blas, to stop Lujan from digging for information about her tutor and life, et cetera. Manuel’s like, “You have no shame, sir!” and Blas is like, “I’m messing with a 15-year-old orphan and I’m a sex offender, what did you expect?” He tells Manuel to go back to his room; there’s nothing else he can do. “There’s one more thing,” Manuel says, and he punches Blas. YES!!!!
I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS DAY.
Blas goes to Lujan’s room, and….apologizes to her. Wait, what? Next thing you know, he’ll start dating someone his own age. He tells her that she’s ~not like other girls~ — she’s strong because she’s an orphan and nobody cares about her. Comforting! So that’s why…it’s okay for him to abuse her? Blas gets weirder and weirder. Lujan says that she’s not alone, she has friends, and Blas starts ranting that friends are temporary. It becomes very clear that he’s talking about himself, but he brushes it off when Lujan brings it up. He tells her to forget her tutor and just accept that she’s alone in the universe, because it will make her stronger.
I guess that was supposed to make us ~understand~ Blas more or some shit. I still hate him.
Everyone else comes back from the club. Tomás is being emo over Pablo winning over Marizza, and Mia assures him that they’ll break up soon, hating each other and all. Poor dumb Tomás lets it slip that that’s not going to happen, and Feli’s like, “Pablo’s tricking Marizza!” Mia and Vico are like, “Ohoho, impossible!” Come on, you guys.
Vico goes to the cafeteria to product place Pepsi. Once that’s done, Guido pops out of the shadows and tries to make her feel bad about embarrassing him. Vico rightly is like, “Hello, you lied about me to the entire school.” Guido’s like, “Accepting responsibility is for squares!” and Vico storms off.
Marizza and Pablo come back to school, and Marizza asks him not to tell anyone about their relationship. Sure, that always works out well. He agrees, and Marizza skips off to her room. Tomás rocks up and asks where Pablo and Marizza disappeared to, and asks if they got into a fight. Pablo’s like, “Yeah, totally. I’m gonna dump her tomorrow.” He is very clearly not telling the truth.
Meanwhile, Marizza and Luna eat Gogurt and squeal over her relationship with Pablo. Lujan is less than enthusiastic, so they change the subject to her tutor. Lujan tells them about Blas and how she has no other way to find out who her tutor is. Marizza says they could track down the director of the orphanage and ask her.
The next day. Nico brings Luna a bunch of books to start studying Judaism. Pablo and Tomás come into the cafeteria and Nico tells Pablo about Papa B swinging by.
Marizza dances and sings her way down the hall where she runs into Mia. Mia snippily informs her that she’ll deign to share her party with Marizza. She already called Sonia and everything’s being organized, so Marizza shouldn’t mess things up, okay? “I’ll mess up your face,” Marizza mutters. Hee. Pablo rocks up behind her and says he has to leave for the day. He’s really awkward about it, and Marizza tells him he doesn’t have to explain it to her. Pablo changes his mind and asks her to come with him, and they run off together. Aw.
Mia finds Blas in the lounge, and she sees a (not at all visible) bruise on his face from being punched. Let’s just rewind to that glorious moment, shall we?
Beautiful. They should put this in the Louvre.
Mia, sadly, does not find it as glorious as I do, and strokes Blas’s ego and tries to give him sympathy. He lies that he cut himself shaving, and shuts her down when she tries to ask about his family. He changes the topic to her and suggests they spend the weekend going on a creepy, illegal date. Mia tells him she has band practice. You know, I just realized it’s been a while since we had anything focusing on Erreway. We haven’t had an episode of them lip-syncing one song at the club in ages. Anyway, Blas says he has another family affair in the afternoon, and Mia wants to come with him, but he shuts her down again. She is perturbed, as she should be. Manuel’s been watching their entire conversation, and snarks at her that she doesn’t realize her boyfriend is a criminal. Mia slaps him and tells him not to talk about Blas like that. I mean, he’s not lying, Mia! “Did you know he used to run with a group of con men and criminals? Did you know that mark on his face is from when I fought with him, because he was messing with Lujan?” Mia doesn’t believe him, and Manuel’s like, “Well, shall we stalk him together, to this ‘family meeting’ he’s having? Or are you scared?” Naturally, that convinces Mia to go with him.
…man, now that she finally has the opportunity to see how creepy he is, he’s going to be doing something totally innocuous. That’s always how these things work out.
Guido’s messing around in the cafeteria, and Sandra suggests that he study. “Oh, the guys told me there’s no need to study,” Guido chirps. I mean, at this school, that’s true. Then Vico comes in, and Guido apologizes to her. He tells her she was right when she yelled at him last night, but everything’s been worked out. It has? Okay, whatever. Vico forgives him in like two seconds. I’d have let him twist some more, but I know she don’t love herself.
Marizza rants about the party to Pablo, and says that Mia will get to be the queen because she’s pretty and blonde and all that jazz. Pablo says that Marizza has to share the party, or it’ll look like she’s scared to compete with Mia. He’s like, “You have personality,” which is the most backhanded compliment from a boyfriend I can think of. He does look pretty charmed by Marizza ranting about ripping out Mia’s hair, though. Hee! I hate how cute Pablo and Marizza can be, because they’re inevitably going to fuck up their relationship.
Mia assigns Feli to take over party planning with Sonia, as she’s out learning the ways of stalking from Manuel. Feli gets way into planning the menu, and Sonia says that Feli must have had a nice quince. Feli reveals that she didn’t have one; her parents just gave her money, on account of her mom being too embarrassed to bring Feli out in public. Man, that’s harsh. Sonia drags Feli over to the mirror and waxes on about how pretty she is. Aw. Sonia is good people. She gets a call from Marizza agreeing to share the party, and Feli says that Pablo must’ve changed her mind. “What? She hates him,” Sonia says. “Oh, you’re not up on the latest news,” Feli tells her.
Sandra sees Luna and Nico studying in the not-library and gets suspicious, as Guido told her they didn’t have anything to study this weekend. There’s a random interlude where Papa B pops in to threateningly ask where Pablo is, then Sandra hustles them off to the cafeteria. Once they’re gone, she looks at all the books about Jewish history and is all suspicious. What, is it weird for Luna to want to know about her boyfriend’s religion?
Guido takes Vico on a date to the arcade. They play DDR and make out.
Feli manages to blow off Sonia’s questions about Marizza and Pablo. They meet with Sonia’s photographer, who she wants to take pictures at the quince. He says he can’t do it, but his nephew is free and he’s really good. And his nephew is Simon! Wow, I actually did not see that coming. I barely recognized him without the douchey sunglasses. Feli wants his body and pours the entire jug of sugar into her coffee.
Meanwhile, in some shady part of town, some guys pull up to Pablo and Marizza and haul Pablo off at gunpoint. Whoa, that’s pretty dramatic. Surely there’s no more emotional point to end the episode on? Ha, just kidding. Let’s just move on!
In the same shady part of town — what, is all the crime in Buenos Aires just going on behind this one brick building? — Blas drives up. He took off his shirt and he’s wandering around in a wifebeater, so you know he’s up to no good. Manuel and Mia follow him to a door (that has a bunch of duct tape on it, because in bad neighborhoods, even the doors are broken) and peek inside. “No puede ser!” Mia gasps.
