UUUUUGH DUDES, I HAVE BEEN ON AN EMOTIONAL JOURNEY OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS. So I thought it would be a good idea to clean up my files by deleting a bunch of drafts that had since been finished, except when I deleted the draft versions on my phone, it…ended up deleting the completed posts that had been posted from my computer. I think I only lost one actual, full post that I’m going to just have to rewrite, but…sadness. This must be what Taylor Swift felt like when she had to rerecord Fearless.
Anyway, if you notice a post missing or a broken link, feel free to let me know via comment/email/Twitter. SIIIIIGH.
(And then, at one point, I restarted my computer, and for the first time in eighty years WordPress hadn’t autosaved my post during the three days that I left it open. So I had to rewrite this post from scratch too.)

Anyway, there was a lesson in all of that about backing up my work, but much like a telenovela character, I am probably going to forget what I’ve learned in the next two weeks. So! Previously on Rebelde Way: Sol has found out that Feli’s pregnant! Just kidding, you know this show wouldn’t end an episode on a cliffhanger with actual consequences. Marizza and Mia quickly just pretend that they had a bet going that they could make Sol believe that Feli was pregnant. And it worked! How wacky! It worries me how often these kids think about gambling.
Sol tells the girls that Maxi is outside, waiting for everything to be explained. The girls say they just need to divvy up their winnings from the “bet”, and then they’ll definitely be right outside to clear things up! Marizza’s like, “Yeah, I’m out,” and jumps out of the window. HEE.
Marcos comes back to school and Lujan immediately starts worrying over him. So, what, now she wants to be friends? Just because he told her about Marizza cancelling the Erreway tour for her? I don’t know. Anyway, he’s all emo over Manuel and blows her off. Lujan is hurt.

Meanwhile, Tomás and Guido are stuck inside the office. Tomás is wailing about how he regrets sending Pilar’s bikini photos to her dad now that they’re back together again. Guido’s like, “Can you shut up and talk about my problems?” He’s all in a tizzy because like, the other night, when he was comforting Laura, he like…felt things? And he like…wants to hang out with her, and not just get in her pants? But he also kind of wants to get in her pants, too, even though she’s a nerd? What is this mysterious feeling, where you’re attracted to someone but you also like their personality? Tomás is like, “IDK, bro, but that’s how I feel about Pilar, if that helps.” Guido’s like, “Nah, that doesn’t explain it at all.” Oh, Guido.

Despite insisting that nothing Lalo wrote in his letter will change her mind, Feli confronts Maxi about the letter anyway. Maxi’s like, “How did you even find out about that? Damn, everyone in this school is so gossipy.” Hee. He’s not wrong. Feli tries to flirt the letter out of him, but Maxi refuses to give it to her.

Mama D berates Pilar for modelling in a bikini and bringing dishonor to her entire family. She asks if Pilar did it to impress Tomás, and if so, her plan backfired majorly, because Tomás was the one who ratted her out to Dunoff. Pilar refuses to believe it, but then Michi rocks up and confirms it.

Francisco tries to quiz Marcos on chemistry, but Marcos is too angsty to study and storms off. Lujan sees this go down and tells Francisco that she thinks Marcos is upset over some girl. She asks Francisco to find out who this mystery girl is. Francisco’s like, “I don’t really want to, but I guess I have nothing better to do.”
Sol runs up to Belen in the library and tells her that Pilar’s not pregnant — it’s Feli! She’s like, “The other girls made up some dumbass story about a bet, but I know they’re just covering for her!” Hee. Belen’s like, “Hahahaha, nice one Sol, but we all know that Feli is going to die a virgin.” Unlike Francisco, she refuses to help, and Sol’s like, “Bullshit! I know you have nothing better to do!”

Marizza visits Pablo at work, but Pablo pushes her away and refuses to get too affectionate in case Leti is watching. Marizza is all hurt.
Over in his hospital room, Manuel flashes back to when he first met Mia. Oh, back to those innocent days when this show used Alicia Keys on its soundtrack instead of Avril Lavigne. Then he has another flashback to when they made out in the Galapagos (before Manuel got them stranded on an island, like Lord of the Flies), and he starts crying. Yeah, if only he didn’t try to pressure Mia into sex, cheat on her, then physically assault her when he heard a rumor that she’d hooked up with someone else. Perhaps it was one of those things that caused their relationship to fall apart. Somewhere in all his flashbacks, I guess he remembers his mom and tiny lisping sister back in Mexico, because he decides to write them a letter.

Back at school, Mia is all emo for some reason. Vico asks what’s wrong, and Mia’s like, “IDK, I just have this feeling that something terrible is going to happen to Manuel.” Her telenovela senses are tingling! Vico tells Mia to forget Manuel and focus on making herself happy, but Mia wails that she can’t. Then Feli comes in, and Mia berates her for staying out late instead of resting. She’s like, “Don’t you care about how I’ll feel if something happens to your baby?” Feli snaps at her that she’s pregnant, not infirm, and the camera then pans to a tape recorder that Sol’s set up in her loft. Oh snap!

Manuel uses up all the paper in his room trying to write his letter, so he goes out looking for more. As he walks through the halls, he overhears two nurses loudly discussing how they feel SO SORRY for that one blonde kid getting brain surgery tomorrow, because that surgery is DANGEROUS and he is DEFINITELY going to die. Professional! Manuel is shook, but bizarrely for this show, he doesn’t do anything dramatic. Instead, he just calls his mom and tells her that he’s going on another tour with Erreway, so she shouldn’t expect to hear from him anytime soon. What the fuck? Surely now, when he thinks he might die, he should tell his mother what’s going on? Isn’t it a thousand times worse for her to think that he’s just going on a trip, so she won’t be prepared at all if he dies?
Look, all I said was that Manuel doesn’t do anything dramatic, I didn’t say it’s not still stupid.
Anyway, before he hangs up, Manuel assures his mother that he’s been happy in Argentina. He’s like, “Even though all I left my entire family and life behind and all I accomplished was having a short-lived musical career and repeating 2 years of high school, I regret nothing!”

Back at school, Marcos prays to God not to let Manuel die. He’s like, “I know I stopped praying after my brother died and my mom went all crazy, but Manuel is way more important than my immediate family.” He starts crying and Francisco overhears him. He tries to comfort Marcos and asks if he’s crying over Lujan. Marcos BSes that he’s crying over a girl who totally goes to a different school and Francisco doesn’t know her, so there.

After Pablo’s shift ends, he starts to leave and Leti’s all, “Don’t forget you’re taking me out on Friday!” and Pablo’s like, “Say what?” and Leti’s like, “Because we’re dating!” and plants a kiss on him. Pablo is understandably disturbed by this, and when he gets back to school, he muses to Marizza that he wants to quit his job. Marizza’s like, “You’ve literally only worked there one day.” “It’s because I’m being sexually harassed, damn,” Pablo doesn’t tell her.
Instead, Pablo notices that Marizza’s on the Guzmans’ (their former managers, Sabrina and her dad) website, which has a big photo of Erreway plastered across the top. So…there are photos of Erreway out there? And a web page with their names? So anyone who wanted to know who Erreway was, like, say Papa B, could have just…googled them? Oh my God, whatever. Anyway, Marizza is suspicious that there’s no page set up for Manuel’s solo act.

Mia comes in and tells Pablo and Marizza that she couldn’t sleep, either. She has a terrible premonition, perhaps to do with Manuel! Her telenovela senses are tingling, but she brushes it off as being pissed that he ditched them to go solo. Marizza brings up her conspiracy theory that Manuel has not, in fact, gone solo, but Pablo and Mia both scoff that Manuel has quit on them and that’s that. Mia sniffles that, obviously, it’s totally unthinkable for the three of them to continue on or indeed form a new band without Manuel (because there must ALWAYS BE FOUR), but she’ll never forget the good times with Erreway. I mean…the three of you still go to school together, Mia. You can still hang out, right? Right? Mia?

The next morning, Michi finds Guido and Tomás still in the main office, having slept there overnight. She’s like, “Why are you still here? Pilar was supposed to unlock the door for you guys when you were done!” Tomás is like, “Oops.” Pilar yells at Tomás for sending her photos to Dunoff. So…I guess they’re broken up again?

Pablo calls Sabrina to try and get more info on Manuel, but whoever picks up the phone tells him that Sabrina’s gone out of the country. Pablo is suspicious.
Over in Marizza’s room, things are awkward since Lujan and Marizza still aren’t talking. Laura starts crying and tells them to just make up already, because if they’re not friends, then friendship isn’t real! Jesus Christ, Laura, pull yourself together. In fairness, she’s also upset because she wants their emotional support now that Lola’s gone. She cries to them that she worked so hard to make up with Lola and overcome their abusive childhood, and now Lola’s leaving like it’s nothing. It’s almost like you’re on a telenovela with shitty writing and no emotional payoff, Laura! Marizza hugs her while Lujan makes passive-aggressive commentary about how even the strongest person is never ready to lose someone they love. The girls almost hug it out, but then Sol barges in. Laura and Lujan hustle out, and Sol plays Marizza her tape of Feli saying that she’s pregnant.

At the hospital, a nurse comes in to prep Manuel for the operation. Manuel asks if she thinks he’s going to be okay, and she tries to assure him, but Manuel notices that she doesn’t look directly at him. Nevertheless, he doesn’t say anything and lets her cut his hair off to get him ready. Ah, and we’re finally rid of both of the tragic hairstyles that have plagued Manuel and Marizza this season. All is right in the world!

The private detective calls Sonia with an update about Mama C, but she doesn’t pick up.
Marizza frantically tells Mia that Sol knows about Feli’s pregnancy, and they’re going to have to figure out a way to put her off. The two of them run around like chickens with their heads cut off for a minute, and then Marizza decides to buy Sol’s silence with the promise of a fashion career via Sonia.
Lujan sees Marcos leaving school again and tries to needle him about where he’s going and what he’s doing. Marcos is all, “Oh, now you want to be friends?” and storms off. Francisco rocks up and Lujan sniffles to him that Marcos really must be into his new girlfriend. Francisco’s like, “Yeah, he was crying over her last night and everything.” Lujan presses for more information, but Francisco just shrugs and says that she goes to another school. Even though that is obvious High School Speak for “She doesn’t exist,” Lujan isn’t suspicious.

Papa C visits Manuel before his operation. Manuel reveals that he knows that this operation might fuck him up real good and cries all over Papa C. It’s quite emotional and affecting, so I’ll refrain from commenting on his giant baker’s hat.

Lola leaves for Jujuy and there’s much tears and hugging. Bye, Lola! I probably won’t miss you, but you and Agustina were kind of funny sometimes and you had a nice platonic relationship with Pablo that I enjoyed when the show bothered to acknowledge it. Speaking of Agustina, I wonder if she’ll be the next third year to be mercilessly bumped off the show.

Marizza pretends to call her mom and get her to put in a good word for Sol with some agent or other. Sol’s like, “So when am I making my debut as the most famous model in all of Argentina?” Marizza’s like, “I mean, it’ll take a couple of days to get the message through?” I’m not sure how she’s planning to go through with this without telling her mother about it at all. Anyway, Sol snipes that this isn’t good enough, and she adds that she wants to have her name on the front cover of the magazine or something. Marizza says that in that case, she wants Sol’s silence and for her to fork over the letter from Lalo. Sol agrees, as long as Marizza makes her famous.

Guido spies on Laura’s goodbye with Lola and sees her crying. He’s all like, “OMG, am I…actually caring about a girl’s emotions?” He somehow manages to get a big bouquet of flowers delivered to Laura’s desk in the next five minutes before class, but Laura assumes that they’re a prank and yells at everyone to leave her alone. Guido is crushed. Whatever! It’s what he deserves!

Lujan sneaks out of school to find out where Marcos is going, and upon realizing that Lujan’s not in class, Marizza leaves, too. Bless. Lujan manages to tail Marcos to the hospital, but the receptionist actually manages to respect patient privacy and refuses to tell Lujan who Marcos is here to see. Then Sonia comes in and Lujan hides, eyeing her suspiciously all the while. Could Sonia and Marcos be here to see the same person? Yes, Lujan, yes they could.

Back in class, Javier sucks up to Hilda and asks if they can start class with the “battle for independence” (did Argentina only have one?) and everyone throws things at him for being a nerd. HEE! Hilda says that, as usual, there will be no studying at Elite Way: instead, she wants them to pray for everyone who’s suffering and whose lives are in danger right now. All the kids are like, “Is this about someone specific, or…?” and Hilda’s just like, “Stop asking questions.”

The scene fades out into a montage of Manuel getting ready for the operation, Papa C and Sonia hugging him, etc, while a slowed-down version of “Resistiré” plays in the background. The the nurse wheels him away into surgery, and the door clicks shut behind them. Do you think Manuel might really die, guys? I don’t know about you, but I’m on tenterhooks!
