Previously on Rebelde Way: Pablo confessed to Marizza! He lit candles and bought flowers and everything, and asked her to be his girlfriend for real. Marizza is about to agree, but then she remembers Javier telling her that Pablo said he was going to confess to her “as a prank.” She tells him that she can’t be with him if he’s just messing with her. Pablo insists that he isn’t, but Marizza won’t believe him.
So like, just to clarify: Marizza won’t believe that a boy that she’s known for two years likes her, but she WILL believe everything that Javier, who she met two weeks ago, says. Marizza is a bad judge of character.
Anyway, Tomás and Guido come by because Pablo and Marizza have been in there for “five minutes.” “He needs more time than that!” Guido bleats, and Tomás is like, “Pfft, no he doesn’t.” Yikes. I feel sorry for Pilar. Then Javier swings by and tries to enter the room. Tomás and Guido stop him, telling him that Pablo is in there with Marizza.
Javier does not like that at all, so what does he do? If you guessed, “Cries to someone about it and makes them feel bad for him,” then you are correct. He pretends to be on the phone with his mom, and starts talking VERY LOUDLY about how HE WOULD LOVE TO GO TO HIS ROOM but PABLO IS IN THERE WITH SOME GIRL and HE WON’T LET JAVIER IN, AND IT’S MAKING HIS LIFE SO VERY DIFFICULT. Blas overhears this and storms off to go yell at Pablo.
Pablo’s all ready to take the blame for whatever Blas thinks they’re doing — I mean, they’re both standing up with all their clothes on, jackets included, so it really doesn’t look that damning. Whatever. But Marizza steps up to take the fall, insisting that she showed up to Pablo’s room because she wanted to.
Mia and Feli listen to a voicemail from Vico, who assures them that she’s totally fine and nothing is wrong. Like, she can’t see them in person or even leave her house, but for totally non-suspicious reasons. Totally. Feli sighs that Mia was right, and things with Vico aren’t as dire as she thought. Mia’s like, “Of coures I was right.” Oh, Mia. Then Papa C shows up and Feli skedaddles. Mia flips out on Papa C for telling her that he was on a business trip, because she knows full well that he was off with his secret girlfriend. She snaps that she’s tired of everyone treating her like an idiot.
Marizza’s waiting for Dunoff in the lobby, and Javier shows up to comfort her. He can’t believe she would take the fall when Blas was all ready to punish Pablo by himself. Marizza insists that she didn’t do it to defend Pablo, but because Blas thought that Pablo forced her into his room, and Marizza doesn’t believe in lying. Javier’s like, “Truth? What’s that?” He says that he would lie for love. If by “love” he means “for any reason at all, just because he feels like it,” then sure, we’ve seen that.
Pablo comes out of the office and Marizza heads in. Once she’s gone, Pablo tries to shove Javier against the wall, but then Papa B walks in. Pablo storms out, and Papa B sighs that Pablo is always fighting with people. Not like Javier, who is a paragon of moral virtue! Javier says that Papa B shouldn’t talk about his son like that, and tries to hug him. Papa B’s like, “Don’t touch me.” Heh. Also, Javier, you don’t have to be nice to Pablo when he’s not around. He’s not even good at being evil.
Manuel and Mia see each other at their lockers, and stare longingly at each other, and it’s really uncomfortable. Like, at least APOLOGIZE FOR ASSAULTING HER, MANUEL. Pablo pops up and asks Mia if she thinks Marizza like-likes him, because he like-likes her but he just doesn’t know if she feels the same. Mia correctly points out that Marizza and Pablo fight and make up so often, that Marizza might just be scared of getting hurt again. Pablo’s like, “So, what you’re saying is…she does like-like me.” PABLO, CAN YOU FOCUS.
Dunoff reams Marizza out for getting caught in a boy’s room, and says that he’s brought someone in to talk to her. Marizza’s like, “Ugh, is it Etchamendi?” Heh. Etchamendi trying to give a sex talk would be hilarious. No, it’s Sonia. Marizza gets all pissy and says that she won’t talk to her, but Dunoff tells her to sit her ass down. Marizza refuses to talk to Sonia, and eventually Sonia gets all weepy and gives up. Dunoff’s like, “You can’t leave! I was very convinced that this mother-daughter thing would work!” Marizza makes a snide remark about how Sonia doesn’t really have room to be telling Marizza to stay out of boys’ rooms. Sonia’s like, “I won’t be insulted like this!” and Dunoff says that he’s ordering them to have an hour-long meeting every day until they get over this. I mean, I appreciate the effort at getting this family into therapy, but you should probably send them to an actual therapist, Dunoff.
Javier tells Papa B that he thinks Pablo is really lonely, and Papa B should spend more time with him. Papa B’s like, “Parents should spent time with their children? Sounds fake to me.” I continue to be confused by Javier trying to fix Pablo’s life for him.
In the cafeteria, Mia sighs that seeing Manuel and then her dad was just too much. “Can you just forget about them for two minutes?” Feli asks. Jesus, Feli, can you let her recover from being attacked by Manuel last episode? Damn. Michi rocks up and she’s like, “Uh-oh, someone looks upset.” Mia snipes that they’re personal problems, and Feli’s like, “Yeah, she’s sad about her dad and ex-boyfriend.” Oh, Feli. Michi tells Mia that not all men are the same. “Some are worse than others,” Mia bitters. Heh. I love this new man-hating version of her. Michi: “Maybe so. But also maybe sometimes you just need some good food to cheer you up, how about it?” Hee.
Sol comes into the cafeteria, and upon seeing that Mia is there, takes out her phone and pretends to be talking to Sabrina. She goes on VERY LOUDLY about how SHE JUST DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY, IT SURE IS CRAZY THAT MANUEL WON’T STOP CALLING AND TEXTING SABRINA. It must be because HE REALLY LIKES HER, HUH? This makes Mia all emo. Don’t be sad, Mia! Let him be Sabrina’s problem! Michi brings over food for Feli and Mia, and Mia’s like, “I don’t want to go to Taco Bell! God, Michi, you’re so stupid!” and storms off.
Feli sighs to Michi that she doesn’t understand how this could have happened to Mia. After all, nothing bad happens to skinny people! Bad stuff only happens to fat girls like them! Michi’s like, “Okay, you gotta stop categorizing everyone by whether they’re fat or skinny.” She tells Feli that being fat or skinny doesn’t determine someone’s happiness, and Feli’s like, “Oh, really, then how come bad stuff is always happening to me on this show?” Michi’s like, “Admittedly, this advice applies less on a telenovela.” She reassures Feli that, despite her weight, she still gets tons of attention from guys, which perks Feli up. Validation from boys is all that matters!
Marizza storms down the hall, all in a bad mood because her meeting with Sonia. She runs into Mia, who squeals at her that Pablo came to her for girl advice — “And he never comes to me for advice!” Aw, Mia. She gushes that Pablo wants to change for Marizza, and Marizza snaps that she’s already had it with people today, and she doesn’t want to hear it. She’s like, “I have a mental pit and Pablo’s in it, and Sonia, and Diego, and you too if you don’t stop talking.” Mia sighs that if she had a pit, there would be two people in it: Manuel and — “Me?” Marizza asks. Aw. “No, Sabrina,” Mia says. She bitters that Manuel and Sabrina are still texting, and Marizza’s like, “All boys are the same. They’re idiots.”
Proving her point, over in Pablo’s room, the boys are playing monkey in the middle with Javier as the monkey. Papa B comes in and shoos them out so he can talk to Pablo. He tells him that, starting from now, he wants to make some changes. They can be a real family! Pablo’s like, “Does that mean you’re going to let my mom come back from her exile in wherever the hell she is?” (England? Man, I don’t even remember.) Papa B’s like, “Okay, let’s not get crazy now.” No, he just wants Pablo come live with him at home. Pablo’s like, “That completely defeats the point of me going to boarding school, but okay.”
Meanwhile, Sonia and Papa C meet up in the faculty lounge, for some reason. They commiserate over their daughters hating them, and Papa C thinks that they should just suck it up and tell Mia and Marizza they’re dating. Sonia’s like, “But if I tell Marizza the truth, that would like, require confrontation.” She won’t let Papa C tell Mia, either, because Mia can’t keep a secret to save her life. Heh.
Over at Vico’s house, her dad is still refusing to let her leave. He gets a call from his friend about some gambling opportunity or another, and goes out to meet him. Vico tells him that he’s going to lose all their money, and her dad’s like, “Stop saying words.”
Mia tells Pablo that Marizza’s been burned way too many times by him and all other boys, and also by Sonia and Martavio, and now she doesn’t trust anyone. Except for like, Lujan, presumably. Lujan is loyal! Pablo bleats that he practically ripped his heart out and handed it to her, what more does Marizza want? “I don’t know, you’ll have to do something more serious,” Mia says. Hey, violating fire codes was pretty serious!
Rocco comes to see Vico, and she starts crying all over him about her miserable life. Okay, for real, they’re cute together, but Vico’s constant need to be saved by him is starting to get weird.
In the cafeteria, Manuel is whining about how hard his life is. “Yeah, I’m upset, the girl I love won’t forgive me!” he rants to some rando boys at his table. Shut UP, Manuel. Pablo comes in and pulls him aside, and tells him that he has to win Marizza back with a grand gesture. Grand gestures never go badly! Manuel muses that if Mia told Pablo this, then that means that MIA will also love a grand gesture. Or MAYBE she would love for you to respect her boundaries and stop whining about how you deserve her forgiveness. “There’s just one problem,” Pablo says. “This is my last night here.” He tells Manuel that Papa B wants him to live at home from now on. “Congratulations…?” Manuel asks. Pablo: “No.” HEE! Manuel is incapable of reading the goddamn room.
The girls are all hanging out together in the lounge for some reason. Why are Mia and Sol hanging out together? They hate each other! Whatever. Feli is telling the girls about how Michi gets tons of guys, despite being, you know…”Fat,” Marizza supplies. All the girls laugh. Seriously, what is with Marizza’s need to body-shame Feli? Hardly any of the other girls do it. Anyway, none of them believe that Michi is a happy, complete person despite not being skinny. Fat people can’t live normal lives!
Some guy rocks up to them, and introduces himself as Luca Something-Or-Other. He’s the son of the lawyer Marizza called for Lujan — his dad is busy, but he came by to see what they needed. I like how these people are always willing to pay personal visits to the school so that the show doesn’t have to build new sets or anything like that. Anyway, Lujan bails for some reason, so Marizza has to talk to him. She’s like, “You know, I called your dad because he’s like…an actual lawyer.” Luca says that he’s a law student, and Mia elbows her way in all, “Fascinating! Hey, if you wanted to find out what someone is up to, how would you do that?” Luca suggests hiring a detective, and Mia’s like, “Oooh, can you recommend anyone?” What? Mia, you’re your own girl detective! Marizza tells Mia not to go crazy and have Manuel followed, and Mia snaps, “I don’t need a detective for Manuel, I need an undertaker.” Ha!
Lujan tells Blas that she knows that he’s her tutor. He’s all, “Well, THAT is just the most RIDICULOUS thing that I have EVER heard…also, quit looking in my stuff.”
Over in Manuel’s room, Manuel is assuring Pablo that his wacky scheme won’t fail. “And girls like this?” Pablo asks. Yeah…I definitely wouldn’t listen to Manuel about what girls like. Tomás barges into the room and tells Pablo that they’ve found Javier, and Pablo ditches Manuel to go yell at Javier some more. “But…” Manuel says, as the door shuts on him. HA! Suffer, Manuel.
Tomás and Pablo find Javier skateboarding around outside, doing some minor flips and stuff. Pablo muses that there’s no way Javier would be doing any of this stuff if he really had a hole in his brain. Tomás suggests bringing Marizza over here so she can see this proof that Javier is lying. Whatever, Marizza wouldn’t believe the truth if it were staring her in the face. She’s like a Javier-related flat earther. Pablo shoots the idea down, saying Marizza won’t come outside just because he says so, and then Tomás pulls a random log off a wheelbarrow and is like, “So give her a reason!” WHAT? Tomás, you ridiculous idiot. I don’t even know what that was about. Anyway, Pablo muses that they could film this and show her the proof, but Tomás points out that Rocco’s been suspended, so they don’t have access to his camera. Hee. 2003, man. Anyway, Pablo sends Tomás to go find Vico and see if she knows where Rocco is. After he leaves, Pablo gets a thoughtful look on his face, and throws the log out into Javier’s path. Javier tries to do a jump over it, but he wipes out and goes sprawling.
Is this what Tomás meant by giving Marizza a reason? Because all that did was give Javier a reason to cry wolf about his injuries some more. Poor dumb Tomás.
In the cafeteria, Lujan and Marizza talk to Luca. Lujan is afraid of messing with Blas, and also she has no money for a lawyer. Luca’s like, “This is kind of a child neglect case, and the child in question doesn’t usually have to pay for it.” He asks for all the information they have on Blas, and they’re like, “LOL, we have nothing.” They run off to go look in Gloria’s office for his paycheck or something, and Mia takes the opportunity to swoop in and ask Luca about hiring a detective again.
Pablo tells Javier to stay away from him and Marizza, again, some more. Javier’s like, “You’re just mad that everyone likes me better than you,” again, some more.
Rocco and Vico have wacky times together at her house, but eventually she tells him to leave, as her dad is coming back soon. Rocco tries to convince her to come back to school with him, but she tells him that things will end badly for her if she leaves. Then Vico’s dad comes back, but instead of blowing up, he invites Rocco to stay. After presumably a snack or whatever, Rocco leaves, and Vico’s dad drops the hospitality. He yells at Vico that she’s just as sl*tty as her mom, bringing boys around at all hours. Honestly, it’s kind of dumb for Rocco be coming around when he knows it’ll end badly for Vico.
In the cafeteria, Michi is cleaning and singing and generally living her best life. Feli comes in and once again is blown away by the fact that Michi doesn’t hate herself. Michi tells her that it’s a question of attitude, and points out a guy who’s just walked into the cafeteria: “Watch and learn.” She hits on him, and he actually seems pretty charmed by her. Feli’s like, “OMG, maybe you CAN be overweight and not alone forever!” They have a wacky chat together — Michi’s like, “Oh, you’re a lawyer!”, so I’m guessing this is Luca’s dad — until Dunoff comes in and breaks it up. He snaps at Michi that they’re going to have a long talk about her entertaining random dudes in the cafeteria. Whatever. Never forget Gloria going on a date with a male prostitute on campus that one time.
Luca introduces his dad to Lujan and Marizza. Lujan asks how much this will cost, and Lawyer Dude says he’s doing it for free, since any friend of Sonia’s is a friend of his. Javier comes in all emo over his skating injury, so Marizza sends Lujan off so she can stroke his ego some more.
Mia hangs around outside by some tree. She keeps hearing a voiceover of Sol saying that Manuel and Sabrina are talking all the time, and — ahhh, that’s what she wants the detective for. Nicely done. Just then, Sabrina rocks up to the school — for whatever reason — and Mia asks her if it’s true that Manuel keeps calling her. “He never calls me,” Sabrina bitters. That’s probably a good thing, Sabrina. She walks off, and Luca shows up. Mia asks if he has the detective’s number, and Luca says he doesn’t — but if Mia gives him her number, he’ll let her know when he finds it. I see what you’re doing, Luca.
Manuel sees Mia talking to Luca, and gets all up in her face asking who that was. See? He doesn’t deserve forgiveness, because he has learned LITERALLY NOTHING about respecting her or thinking about anyone besides himself for five seconds. Mia just snipes at him that he should go hang out with Sabrina, because she was looking for him.
Meanwhile, Dunoff is yelling at Michi for hitting on the lawyer dude. So what we’re getting here is, Michi flirting with some guy who’s not affiliated with the school, as either a parent or teacher: bad. Blas manipulating underage female students: totally fine. Michi tells Dunoff to chill out. Hee. Then Mama D comes in and tells Dunoff that she’s taken a new position teaching English down south (aka the end of the earth, if this show is to be believed — and Argentina’s own tourism department, to be fair). She wants to take Pilar with her. Dunoff is like, “You’ll never take my daughter to the South! There are hillbillies there!”, or whatever’s in the south of Argentina. Mama D snipes that she’ll just have to ask Pilar.
Cut to: Pilar, who’s absolutely thrilled to be in the middle of her parents’ divorce again, I’m sure. She doesn’t want to move to the south, but Mama D tells her to think about it.
In the cafeteria, Sabrina whines to Sol that she can’t believe Manuel doesn’t still want to sleep with her. Sabrina, for the love of God, come up with a new goal in your life. Go to college or something. Sol’s like, “No, you dumbass, you gotta act like Manuel still likes you, because that will destroy Mia emotionally.” Mia overhears them and runs out all emo, and Sabrina and Sol cackle. Then Sol tells Sabrina that Manuel is being sad in his room, and he would definitely welcome some manipulative sex right now.
Sabrina goes to see Manuel under the guise of talking about how popular Erreway is. Whatever, they’re already the biggest band in Argentina while putting zero work in. How much more famous could they be? Manuel’s like, “Wow. Great.” Sabrina’s like, “You should be more excited,” and she’s not wrong. Manuel is twenty years old and a junior in high school, like, this band is pretty much all he’s got going for him right now. He asks how she can be so chipper, and Sabrina says, “I do what I feel,” and puts her hand on his knee. Manuel’s like, “Okay, boundaries.” Oh, sure, he understands boundaries when they’re his, not Mia’s. He tells Sabrina that his heart is still with Mia, and Sabrina says that if Mia doesn’t forgive him, then Sabrina will still be here. Waiting. Forever.
Sabrina is a sad, sad girl.
Javier convinces Marizza to open up to him about her sad home life, and she confesses to him that she just found out that Martavio is her dad. She asks him not to tell, and Javier’s like, “I would never give away your secrets to benefit me!” I mean, I guess Marizza has a choice between telling him herself, and having him find out when he breaks into her room to sniff her underwear and read her diary. Javier thanks her for trusting him and tells her she can count on him. Then he grabs her hand. Ew, you don’t know where those hands have been, Marizza.
Pilar goes to talk with Dunoff, but Gloria blocks her, saying that Dunoff is busy interviewing a new teacher. What? How can they be having a new teacher? The school year’s almost over! Oh, right, Martavio got fired. Dunoff comes out with some nerdy dude, and says that the guy will start teaching art class tomorrow. Pilar looks all offended. Whatever, he literally can’t be a worse teacher than Martavio. Like, I’m assuming this guy at least has a teaching license.
Vico finally makes it back to school, and catches up with Mia and Feli in their room. Feli’s got a mobcap on like she’s an 18th-century housemaid or something.
Mia gushes that they’re going to have a spa night. Pilar and Belen come in, and Mia invites them, too — everyone’s invited! Except Sol and Fernanda, because fuck them. (Fernanda, hilariously, wants to join them. “DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!” Sol yells at her.) Then Lujan and Marizza come in, and Pilar decides that since everyone’s here, she should tell them the big news: “You know my parents are about to get divorced, right?” she asks. “Yeah, that’s not a secret,” Marizza says. Pilar: “No, I know.” Hee. She’s about to tell them about the new art teacher, when all of a sudden a bunch of fireworks start going off.
All the girls run outside, and Mia and Marizza stare at the sky: “I can’t believe it,” Marizza says. What, no “No puede ser”?
